Rating: Summary: Rob Zombie does it again Review: "House of 1,000 Corpses" is one of the more unique horror movies filmed. It combines 70's style horror movie, modern blurry effects, and porn movies. The set creaters creatively built the house and the gas station, giving the audience the extra pleasure. Though the style may be a little elaborate for the location for real life, but it's important for story expression. This movie teaches other B-movies how to allow one's mind to flow during production and writing. Hiring only unknown actors was clever. Well known actors would have ruined the effect. The heavy rock music and the old-time jazz creates a new twist rarely heard in horror movies. This combination allows the killers to look glamorous withour glamorizing murder.Rob Zombie fought long and hard to convince movie companies to release this movie that he wrote and directed. Many felt that it's too gory to appeal audiences. After watching this, one will realize that it was worth the fight. Those sensative to graphic nature may not find pleasure in this. Otherwise, one will not be disappointed, but one will be surprised when completed. Fans are recommended to watch "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" afterward as they will discover one of Rob Zombie's movie influences.
Rating: Summary: Liked it when i saw it 20 years ago Review: I'm a big fan of Rob Zombie's art and music; however, I was a bit disappointed with this film. In other ways, I was delighted. Rob's aesthetic approach is amazing and his directing spawns colorful, imaginative, and disturbing images throughout the entire film. While imagery is extremely important to me in a film, the story and plot must be original too and in my opinion, Zombie took an already excellent film and modernized it with his artwork and interpretation. If you know what movie I'm talking about (the mother of all horror flicks), don't bother watching this one. It's as if someone were to take a Monet and layer Photoshop work on top of it. House Of 1000 Corpses is beautifully done and VERY gory, but lacks any sense of storyline originality with the exception of one or two parts.
Rating: Summary: Worst movie EVER. Review: This movie was possibly one of the worst I have ever seen. I didn't go in expecting too much more than a cheesey horror flick, and was disappointed even then. The acting was atrocious, the special effects were vaguely good. The plot could have been very good, but it's execution was horrible, and thats being nice. I would recommend that NOBODY buy this movie ever.
Rating: Summary: WHAT THE HELL ARE U PEOPLE SAYING??????? Review: I could not BELIEVE all the terrible review critics and even FANS were giving this movie...It was the best horror movie in years! Spider Baby, Night Of The Living Dead, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Evil Dead...all of those were cult CLASSICS...All the new horror movies have SUCKED. None of them were actually gorey, or brought back the classic B- Horror movie vibe. Rob Zombie did that!!! It was GREAT!! It had a LOT of gore, violence, guts, and freaks...i LOVED that. It had LOTS of strangely comedic scenes, and i LOVED that! And not to mention, it had plenty of nudity...and who DOESN'T love that?? This movie was grade A+ material...but a B horror movie, but those are my favorites! This movie brought back that feeling of, "GROSS!!", and "HAHA!! YES!" and not to mention, "OH MY GOD...Should i be watching this??". And that is that!! OH! and one more thing! I thought is was AWESOME how ALL the good guys die, and how the killers won... THAT'S CLASSIC HORROR RIGHT THERE!
Rating: Summary: Best horror comedy sice Evil Dead 2 5 for being so funny. Review: This was much funnier than scary. Not much of a plot, just people getting tortured. The acting strinx, but Captain Spaulding and Dr. Satan make up for all of that. The ending was a little freaky, but overall this isn't that scary. Still this is the thought that pops into peoples mind when they think horror film. A movie with blood guts and gore and sinceless killing. Pure fun cuz after all we think the sight of people dying and being tortured is funny and amusing.lol.
Rating: Summary: What a great, effed up movie! Review: My favorite part of the DVD is Sid Haig's ranting if you stay on the main menu too long. He is hilarious! Of course, those with more refined senses of humor will probably find him repugnant, but nonetheless I feel he "makes" this DVD. The movie itself I loved, because I love all "gore" horror movies (i.e. Texas Chainsaw, Friday 13th, etc) so if you do too, get this movie! Plus, the soundtrack is excellent. This is worth buying just to watch that one night when nobody's home, it's dark and scary, and a bunch of psychopath neighbors just moved in next door!
Rating: Summary: It's Here, It's Finally Here !!! Review: Being a huge Zombie fan i wasn't at all disappointed when i finally saw this long delayed flick. It's like being on the backseat of a car being driven by THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE whilst navagated by NATURAL BORN KILLERS, I didn't find it that gory myself, i found it quite insane and claustrophobic which is a good thing. Others have filled you in on the story round here so i'll let u know that the special features include-Director's commentary, Making of featurette, Trailers, Audition & casting footage and more bits and bats. Disappointingly i haven't found any music videos BUT i have found 3 hidden little easter eggs (one of which is VERY FUNNY). Even the menus are fantastic with 3 characters from the film helping u along and explaining stuff. I don't really wanna go into too much detail and ruin the surprises for ya though. i will say that this has been worth the long wait and is a huge delight for myself a fan of old school horror classics. This one's got cult classic written all over it. BRING ON THE SEQUEL!!!
Rating: Summary: Rob Zombie Promised and Delivered This Great Movie! Review: Being a fan of Rob Zombie for many years now, I was extremely anxious to view his unorthodox and shocking film that had the critics and production studios turning their heads away in disgust. Being military and overseas, I was unfortunately unable to see this film on the silver screen, but jumped eagerly and cautiously at the chance to see it in my own home. I must say that this backwater slasher flick reminds me of the days of old, when movies didn't require well-endowed and well-known actors/actresses to fulfill the roles needed. This movie delivers a disturbing and provocative look into a situation we all dread: Two couples break down on a country road on Halloween Eve while going cross-country trying to write a book on roadside oddities. They are helped buy the hitch-hiking, very beautiful and talented Sheri Moon (Rob Zombie's real-life significant other), but instead of calling AAA she insists that the group come to her country house to visit with her family and let her brother do the handy-work. What lay before them is a house full of inbred, backwater, cheerleader-slashing hillbillies that refuse to let them leave until they fulfill their dark bidding. Sounds very familiar, right (Texas Chainsaw Massacre)? But it doesn't stop there. There's mystery, confused cops, a concerned father, a roadside freak-show attendant, and a local serial mangler known only as Dr. Satan, who is known for his dark and evil experiments on the mentally ill. This movie also has the talent of Sid Haig as the foul-mouthed clown, Captain Spaulding, and also the talent of Karen Black, playing the mother of the sadistic household, Madame Firefly. To those of you with real taste in cult horror films, you will be thoroughly pleased with Rob Zombie's masterpiece, and with the ending that only we could expect from the genius himself. For everyone else....go watch a Scream movie.
Rating: Summary: Should only be shown in ROB ZOMBIE's house. Review: Pretty much unwatchable. Loud, silly, and filmed in that amateurish music video style that is becoming so utterly common that it should have a genre of it's own, HOUSE OF 1K CORPSES was made by rocker ROB ZOMBIE obviously for ROB ZOMBIE. All shlock, no shock and certainly not scary, skip this hoaky hommage to 70's horror movies because it just doesn't work. Watch the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE again and revell in a more accurate view of horror in the 70's.
Rating: Summary: Fun and twisted Review: HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES takes you back to the horror films of the '70s; the great, classic old school ones, which is what Rob was shooting for. It's very much like THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE but alot better. The acting is good and it's fun, but it's just so unbelievably siiiiiiiiiiiiiick! Most of the gore is very unnecessary and the things that the messed up family do to the kids are just not right. But, it still was cool and enjoyable, so see it if you haven't yet. Also, the sequel is finished being written, most of the original cast members are set to return and it's ready start being filmed soon for a release sometime in April next year, if that's possible. My guess is that they'll need more time. But, anyway, I'll definately see it. You should, too!
