Summary: Wow! What a crappy movie!
Review: When I rented this movie, I was expecting a scary film that I would enjoy. However, I ended up getting...something...that had absolutely NO plot whatsoever, or any rational components. It was literally a jumble of random events and film clips that, while at first bad, appeared to be leading somewhere, however it did not. The beginning was confusing and pointless, and even though I hoped for conclusion in the end, all I found was more film clips - in negative form - as well as random, inexplicable characters that served no purpose and settings that did not make sense. My advice to anyone is not to rent this movie, unless you want to mercilessly mock a truly horrible film and waste a couple hours. In the end, all I can say about this movie is...riiight. Whoever thinks that this is art should really get checked out.

Summary: "A pointless disaster"
Review: I saw this movie way back in May and here is what i have to say."This movie was absolutle trash but trash is too good of a complement for a movie such as this one.House of 1000 corpses was what I call a "tragic disaster".It had absolutly no plot and was the worst rip-off of the texas chainsaw massacre i've seen to date.I sat and watched it and was wondering the entire time"why would you make such a movie?why was it even made?Such a waste of money. The characters were annoying and it has hardly enough gore. For people thinking this movie is going to be gory your dead wrong. There was nothing gory about this movie.Abolutely nothing. This is what happens when you have some poser-music video directer and give him a movie camera.WoW what a waste. Now i hear they are coming out with part 2.Please people do yourself a favor and don't see part 2,don't encourage rob to make more movies, hes terrible.

Summary: NO STARS
Review: This movie is pitiful. It makes no sense, has little if any gore, definitely not scary or even clever. People in the audience were leaving and those that stayed were routing for the chararcters to die so it would all end. I would rather have my teeth drilled than watch this ever again.

A story culled from the same legend that gave us Texas Cahinsaw massacre. Four teens pick up a hitchhiker and their van breaks down. Actually, the hitchhikers brother, we'll call him slobby, lays a tire-popping chain in the road, then arrives with his tow truck and tows the kids to the family residnece where we meet the family wierdos. Then slobby fixes their car and let's them leave, only before they can get all the way down the driveway the family goons come out and attack them and tie them up in the house. Now think about that. WHY THE HELL DID THEY FIX THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! To be funny, to play with them, or to waste the audiences time? Rob Zombie didn't know where this was going, he just shot it as he went.

On top of which, there are some missing cheerleaders who have already been captured by the family when the movie starts, and Zombie does nothing to let us know who is who. They all look alike, and i think he killed each one of them more than once, the more times they died they more times they appeared later in the film. I actually heard several people in the audience say "didn't she die already?" or "who's she, where'd she come from."

This movie is a mess, plain and simple. Not scary, nonsensical, boooring. An utter waste of time.

Summary: Unique and entertaining
Review: So it didn't live up to the hype. So what. What it DID do that many people do not want to give it credit for was thoroughly entertain for it's short 90 minute span. Rob Zombie may not be the greatest director since Orson Wells, but he DOES know how to put on a good show. His homage to the horror movies that obviously inspire his music and creativity, takes place in Texas in the '70s, and follow a group of....get this....lost young people on a road trip. Our stumbling band of youth then happen upon a family of lunatics, and mayhem ensues. For all the controversy over this films violence, it really wasn't anymore gruesome than your average horror movie. And most of the violent action is carried out by one of the wackiest cast of characters ever to grace a horror movie, that it's surely easier to swallow than say...the sadistic (and serious) violence of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I must admit that for all it's faults...I totally enjoyed House of 1000 Corpses. It is what it is. And boy is it fun. It's one of those love it or hate it movies, so I do caution those with weak stomachs to avoid. But if you like horror movies, or just feel like something TOTALLY different. Do try this one out. And if you've already seen it, and are thinking of buying the DVD, know that it is loaded with cool extras such as interviews, deleted scenes, and more.

Summary: What The Hell?
Review: This movie was pure redneck horror trash.....ok maybe I'm being a bit hard on this movie but Rob you really let me down on thise one....
It really took you that long to make this crap???? and all that time for what, nothing original, I mean the movie borrowed from everything from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Natural Born Killer type cinematics.... pluse all those cheesy flash backs made for a realy ...annoying movie. I gave it one star cuz it was more cheesy and disgusting than even close to the scary horror movie I was expecting.

Summary: Excellent Direction
Review: This movie had too much gore but the direction and editing were magnificent. The acting is excellent especially Bill Moseley. As Rob Zombie wanted, he did go back to the original horror flicks including the ending that goes back to the ending of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Even though the amount of blood in this movie was a little extreme, the overall effect of the movie was very good. However, I don't recommend this movie to those who can get nautious easily.

Summary: House of 1000 Corpses
Review: Not exactly a breath of 'fresh air', but it is a very watchable horror flick, that is quite comparable to "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (and is leagues better than the recent TCM remake). For the reviewers on here to discredit the story as trite and unbelievable, you'd have to say the same about Texas Chainsaw Massacre, because the storyline is practically identical (up until the final act of course)...
And what a final act! I won't reveal exactly what happens for those who haven't seen it, but it totally took me by surprise. For the entire movie up until that point, I assumed it was something that actually could happen (such as TCM) as opposed to something supernatural. Of course, given the title, the end makes perfect sense, but I had gotten into a mindset, so the end surprised me. I doubt it will (or has) surprised anyone else, but I just thought I'd share that... *ramble ramble*
For me, the movie, had an extreme sense of dread and hopelessness which totally made the movie work. The only blatantly negative thing I can say about this is the 'laughing girl' (I forget her name), which nearly ruined every scene she was in. If you tune her out though, you'll like this film alot better. :P

Summary: Trick Or Treat?
Review: It wasn't THAT bad! If you want to see a really awful movie rent "Showgirls." This film may not be a classic, and it may not be a critically acclaimed art-house gem, but it's still fun. If you can't enjoy a fun film every now and then what's the point of even going to the movies? I don't understand those who criticize this film for being so graphic and gory (which really, it isn't) and for being so bad. First of all - were you expecting "Citizen Kane?" Come on. And secondly, you should know from the title alone that there's going to be some mayhem and murder - why would you go to a movie like this expecting a feel-good, life-affirming motion picture? Yes, the film is disturbing but no more so than any episode of MTV's The Real World. Who directed this? Rob Zombie. Any person with half a knowledge of pop culture knows that this man has a fond spot for the strange and unusual. Pay attention people! Gosh. Anyway, this movie was much better than I expected, and much better than it is being given credit for. Rob Zombie has a kinetic, exhilarating flair for visual hocus-pocus and he does a fine job helming this little flick - I was very impressed with the feel of this film - from the way it milked horror movie plot lines to the use of soundtrack, camera angles and color and lighting. The film is a throwback to the splatter film conventions of the 70s and the storyline never really advances past a gross-out urban legend/"Texas Chainsaw" hybrid, but Rob keeps a few tricks up his sleeve and even tosses in some sci-fi elements. If nothing else, the movie manages to create a style all it's own, and it did indeed keep me interested. I give it credit for that. The cast is hilariously offbeat and Sheri Moon is especially memorable as one of the psychotic killers.

Summary: ZOMBIE'S ZOMBIES
Review: Two young couples terrorized by a family of inbred maniacs is taken to extremes in Rob Zombie's way over-the-top gonzo gore-fest, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES (Lion's Gate). Made under a deal with Universal, it was dropped when the suits saw the final cut (no pun intended). A genuine cult flick that's a throwback to blood-drenched 70s drive-in Italian imports.
