Rating: Summary: A Decent Atempt To Make A Good Horror Movie Review: Let's be honest, this is not the greatest horror movie to come out in years like others have been saying. I must say though that it is much better then all of those cheesy teen slasher flicks that have been shamelessly labeled horror movies. The plot is simple, weird monster trying to eat a brother and sister on their way home. The movie is pretty creepy throughout but when the monster is finally shown it all starts to go downhill from there. I actually think it would have been better if we never see what it looks like but that's just my opinion. There is a weak atempt for a twist ending and the character of the psycic is just annoying and pointless because if you look back she serves no purpose and does not help to answer any questions. This movie was a good attempt and has many things that could have made it a really good movie but in the end it just leaves you wanting more. But with all the crap that is being released today, it does enough to leave me satisfied.
Rating: Summary: Creepy creature! Creepy story! Creepy deluxe! Review: It's been a long time since we've seen a movie that can shock us with a dark and suspenseful atmosphere. I like movies that can take me for a ride but I also like movies that can take me for ride not knowing where the movie is taking me and leaving me in the suspense and the anticipation of surprise. "Jeepers Creepers," succeeds quite effectively where other horror movies fail miserably. First thing; we have two unknown actors who play brother and sister, you're given a little bit of back-story, you start the movie with some character development and it's kinda slow. This is the first rule in making a great movie! Not just horror movies but all movies! IMPLEMENT SOME CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! Make us care about the experience these characters are going through. Victor Salva does a great job making these points clear in the film and to the audience. Second thing; the audience must have moments where they need to squint their eyes when being drawn into a scene that doesn't give everything away immediately. Great examples of this can be found in classic horror films like John Carpenters, "The Thing," and of course "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Part of the successful fear factor those movies presented were the outstanding way the director presented things, "darkly." Third thing; give us an ending that isn't Hollywood fluff, where the heroes triumph and the villain is cast away failing his/her mission! This is one of the biggest mistakes in horror movies because it dilutes everything the story was made from, "sheer terror!" The terror must keep going even as the credits are rolling and the people are leaving the theatre. I think the "The Blair Witch Project," was successful because you knew before even starting the movie the three filmmakers were reported missing. In John Carpenters "The Thing," you have an ending that is quite simply the creepiest ending I've ever seen. Aside from horror, "Titanic," called to the masses because everyone knew it was a doomed voyage, even though, "Titanic," isn't a horror movie, people are magnetically drawn to doom-possibly because everyone one of us knows our days are numbered:( The similarity from those movies and, "Jeepers Creepers," is that in all of this, you're seeing a story of doom on the horizon and it's inevitable. That's what makes a great horror movie! It must have doom and the doom must be inevitable from the get-go. So there you have it! "Jeepers Creepers," is most certainly not the greatest horror movie of it's genre but it definitely reinvigorates conventional Hollywood horror flicks by following the essential rules above. Bravo!
Rating: Summary: Horrible Review: One of the worst movies ive seen in a long time. Really not a whole lot else to say. Thin plot, bad acting, and a horrible ending. Definately did not live up to the hype.
Rating: Summary: Jeepers Creepers Review: This was the WORST movie I have seen in a long time!!! Where do I begin? The plot was weak, the writing was awful, and the editing was terrible. Let's start with the first encounter with the Creeper on the highway. Although the Creeper rams the car repeatedly it appears without a scratch several times during the chase sequence. This was the first clue that I was watching a really bad "B" movie. The writing--Most of the audience wasn't sure if they should be laughing or if they were supposed to be screaming. There was nothing scary about this film. It was unfortunately funny in places I don't think the director intended. The anti-climactic ending sucked also. I wish I had my money back on this one........I could have done something better with it like burn it!!!!! That would have been more productive.
Rating: Summary: i dont know about you but 40s music doesn't scare me..... Review: ....but if it does by all means watch this movie. bacially the movies about these two siblings who, instead of running away from some devil dude that wants to eat them, stare at it with their mouths hanging open for half the movie. ya know a movies bad when the whole theater starts a "run away you ... chant. Add in all that and the really old "jeppers creepers where'd you get those peepers" song and you got yourself one bad movie. not to mention an ending that ends so abruptly you'd sware the produciton just ran out of money. so if you want to be scared go watch The Others instead and stay away from Jeepers.
Rating: Summary: Creepers? Review: I went to see this film after I heard it was the best horror movie in years. I was sorely disappointed. The idea for the story isn't bad. And I thought the acting was fine also. But it's one horror cliche' after another. And I didn't think it was suspenseful or scary. But if that is what you're wanting to see then it's the movie for you. But if you're expecting it to be the Halloween, Friday The 13th or Nightmare on Elm St of this era then you're gonna be disappointed. IMO...........
Rating: Summary: Creepy Review: Jeepers Creepers is one of the scarier movies to come out in the past few years. It may not have had the best storyline, but it was very suspenseful. The plot: Brother and sister (Trish and Darry) are travelling home from college taking the backroads and constantly bickering when they almost get run off the road by a strange truck. Later on they pass this truck parked at an old run down church and see a large person throwing what appears to be wrapped up bodies down a pipe. Soon after passing, the truck takes off after Darry and Trish again, this time running them off the road. At this point, the characters become almost typical naive horror cliches and decide to go back and see what he through down the pipe instead of just getting the heck out of there. The suspense really builds when he enters the pipe and what he finds is very freaky. The film builds a lot of suspense from this point on and doesn't have any real boring parts all the way through and the door is left wide open for the Creeper to become the next horror franchise. Overall I found the story to be ok, but the films ability to horrify is definately strong. 'Jeepers Creepers,' especially the last scene, freaked me out.
Rating: Summary: You must be kidding... Review: This movie was an atrocity. You're much better off with a classic Jason thriller or Psycho, even Freddy... Leave this one alone...
Rating: Summary: Plenty of Nothing Review: What ever happened to the idea of having an interesting story to tell? This movie is terrible. It ended before whatever "story" was finished. (I think?) There was no point; there was no purpose; there was no [real] development; there was no message; there was no resolution. The only really frightening thing about this movie is that somebody might actually like it! Two naive college students--perhaps I should say dumb--(brother and sister) driving home from school through the countryside in perpetual fading sunlight stumble upon a monster(?) driving an old "souped up" truck that any cop or by-stander would spot a mile away as ridiculously suspicious. Of course, we discover this creature has been killing hundreds of people in horrible ways for years, but the local police or towns folk aren't missing anybody. Naturally this thing gets interested in killing these two lost lambs and gives chase. The only reason this movie gets one star is that the lighting is interesting and some of the sets are well done and effective. The landscape looks to be tidewater South Carolina or South Louisiana and offers a haunting and spectral beauty full of giant hardwoods with hanging Spanish moss. The shadows are wonderful. The visual effect--excluding the monster, who is about as believable as someone in a halloween costume--is impressive. The old 1940s hit "Jeepers Creepers, Where'd ya get those Peepers" is also a plus. Too bad it has to be associated with such a shallow effort. The critter turns out to be all powerful. Concentrated automatic weapons fire can't kill him. Being run over repeatedly by a car doesn't stop him. (So why hide from an old lady and two helpless kids by pretending to be a scarecrow in a cornfield?) He has the ability to fly. (So why drive an old truck anyway?) He can magically appear from nowhere and even land smack on top of a speeding cop car to brutally dispatch the two fully armed troopers. However he can't do that with our two hapless "heroes" in their sputtering jalopy because then the movie would be over before it starts, right? Come to think of it, it is over before it starts. The audience just doesn't know it yet. I kept wondering what good movie I could be watching. Hey, save your money; save your time; save your effort. Take your peepers to see something else.
Rating: Summary: Worst movie of the year Review: This movie was worse than Pearl Harbor. Absolutely unbelieveable, unscary, and underwritten.
