Summary: In a word, WOW!
Review: I have rented many direct to video horror movies, and few even pass as anything compared to this. Rather than focusing on the deaths of the characters, (if you seen a slasher movie, you know what I mean) this film focusses on getting to know and care for the characters before they're torn up by werewolves. But don't let that fool you. This movie contains some awesome action sequences. Rent and or buy this. It's worth it. ARRRROOOOOOWWWW!

Summary: A whity irreverent take on the horror genre
Review: Being an ex-squaddie myself i was worried that the humour of this production would not be up to the standards of the British Army; how wrong I was! The humour was totally top notch, I was laughing my as5 off throughout the entire film. Some of the cultural references will be totally missed by anybody who hasn't spent a great deal of time in the UK, but that does not mean that this film cannot be enjoyed by all. Furthermore whilst many films struggle to provide anything remotely resembling tension and excitement Dog Soldiers provides many genuinely scary moments. Great acting throughout (especially Sean Pertwee) and to those who say the film is a rip off of some great sci-fi/ horror films - er that's the whole point!

Summary: Six men. Full moon. No chance.
Review: I picked up DS as part of a special offer and wasn't expecting much, I'm glad to say I was wrong!.
A band of British soldiers are on a training exercise in the Scottish wilderness when they stumble accross the blood splattered camp of a special operations team, complete with one survivor.
Night soon falls so they take a assortment of weapons from the camp and head of into the woods. It isn't long before before our happy campers are being hunted down by strange figures, and even worse, bullets don't seem to harm them. The soldiers do the sensible thing and run. As luck would have it they run to a road, with a young woman, Megan, driving along it. Even better Megan is a werewolf expert, and her friends have a house nearby where everyone will be safe.
Then the film turns into GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS when everyone arrives at the house of Megan's friends. The house is deserted, and it isn't hard to guess who the werewolves are. To make matters worse, the werewolves are coming home. Only one team are going to make it to morning, which one?

Review: I was a bit sceptical about Dog Soldiers when I first heard of it, but when I saw it on DVD I now think it's one of the best horror films of the last two decades! Being in the British Army myself I loved the way the film portrayed us, the acting was spot on.

The werewolves themselves are class in my opinion; too much makeup on a monster can make it look prettier not scarier. If you watch Alien 1 & 2, the alien models look far more sinister than their computer generated counterparts in the later alien films.

The gore level in Dog Soldiers is acceptable for a horror film. One gut wrenching scene involves an open gut wound and some super glue...nice!

By the way I noticed some reviewers referred to the incident where the unit whistled whilst on exercise as being odd. This was a subtle attempt to be captured by the SAS because they wanted to get back and watch a very important footie match, between England & Germany. Believe me I did the same with my squad once when we wanted to watch the rugby.

P.S. For all you yanks who don't understand the phrase "They think it's all over...it is now!", that is what a british sports commentator said before England beat Germany in the 1966 world cup final.

Summary: Once Bitten......
Review: Before I give my thoughts on this movie I would first like to make a couple points.
1 - This is a British film starring British actors using British accents - the dialogue and "slang" are understood by British viewers but perhaps not by US audiences.
2 - This is the first feature film by the director and producers and, as you would imagine, did not have a $100 million budget.
3 - Even though the film has werewolves in it, that does not necessarily make it a horror film - Alien was a horror film, Aliens was an action film - you get my meaning?

This film is everything which is good about film making.
It is well imagined, well scripted, well directed and well acted.
There's an enthusiasm about it which sweeps you up and carries you along for the ride.

If you find fault in films which pay homage to other films (and which modern film doesn't?), or cannot afford cutting edge effects, or doesn't star American actors - then that reflects more on you than this film.

If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
Outstanding.

Summary: Without much pretention: a moder horror classic from U.K.
Review: "Dog Soldiers" is a real jewel for the horror genre, a "Must have" movie. Putting werewolves againts a prey that can fight back is a really nice turn, maybe the scrip is somehow predictable in some parts, but then you have a few scenes that take away that. Made it with a low budget, this movie takes the most from it and use it in an efficient way, but the greatest achivement was in the cast, the actors are brilliant in their roles because you care about them, you feel them real. The sarge, Cooper, Spoon, Joe, Terry and Bruce could be any real soldiers, Captain Ryan is a real jerk and you enjoy hatin' him, only Megan was somehow a little off base. Great action, suspence, nice timed pressure valvles, and class actin' make a truly amazing debut. You must keep and eye on the director and hope that this magnificien cast gets more roles of this caliber.

Summary: Best Werewolf movie since Howling & Werewolf in London !
Review: I am an avid fan of werewolf movies. I have always been, especially since my first true movie was The Wolf Man with Lon Chaney Jr. When this was aired on the Sci Fi channel - I was totally blown away. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I watched it. And, while I was out shopping today, I noticed it at the store, and picked it up. Watching it for the second time, totally freaked me out. This is a great horror movie. Great scares, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoyed the Howling, and American Werwolf in London - then get Dog Soldiers to add to your horror collection. You will not regret it.

Summary: Not really that good
Review: Bottom line is that this movie is NOT as good as what most of the reviewers have said. I would not compare this movie to any of the Alien movies or Preditor. Not scary at all either.

One of the funniest parts is when the squad are all whistling a tune as they march through the woods. However, they are supposedly on a training mission to make it through without being detected by their commanders. No wonder why they stumbled upon on all this trouble.

Summary: A Nice Surprise For Horror Fans
Review: As Horror fans know all too well, it's been slim pickings lately. Hollywood seems to have turned it's back on Horror, so I've been trying some more obscure films to try to get my fix, and Dog Soldiers fits the bill quite nicely.

The plot is fairly simple: A group of British soldiers playing War Games in the Scottish Highlands becomes the prey for a pack of Werewolves. That's pretty much it. The film is elevated by good effects and strong performances by the Actors; They're all perfectly cast, and they seem like real individuals, instead of just (Potential...) meat on the hoof. The Werewolves themselves are pretty weird looking; They actually look more like Dogs than Wolves, but the effects are much better than I expected. The ending is somewhat predictable, but that shouldn't detract from your enjoyment too much. The DVD also includes a commentary track, a featurette, and two trailers. Horror fans will enjoy Dog Soldiers, and should definitely buy the DVD; Anyone making a good Horror film deserves the fan's support.

Summary: wow
Review: this movie was great. although it does have some humor like when the guys nailing the door and then starts nailing the werewolf's fingers or when the third to last guy alive starts stabbing the werewolf like hek it still was good for a horror/action film. I say this movie has the nastiest gore even though it is kind of cheap. I was so grossed out when i saw the dog biting that guys guts. this movie was good but i didn't like the soldiers European accent to much because it's sort of hard to understand but after the movie it became easier to understand the accent.
