Summary: BEST VAMPIRE FILM!!!!!
Review: This movie scared me when it was on TV.I had nightmares for weeks.I now own it on video and it still gives me the chills.A suave antiques dealer moves into an old hilltop house looking over the small town of Salem's Lot.The antiques dealer is a sinister man who lives with his nosferatu buddy,a vampire.Together they start killing the town off,and making the population vampires. Not unless a brave teenager and a writer stop the two before they too, become the undead!Great cast, story, setting, music!Based on the novel by Stephen King(It,Carrie).Cast-David Soul,James Mason ,Lance Kerwin ,Bonne Bedella, and Lew Ayres.

Summary: One of the scariest vampire movies
Review: Unlike some "modern" vampire movies that uses gothics an style, no-one can scare the pants off you like steven king who seldom uses these techniques.

Salems lot is truly a "SCARY-POPCORN-FLYING-SCREAMING-NIGHTMARE-HAVING-AFRAID-TO-WALK-IN-THE-DARK" flick. You gotta see and own this great and classic horror flick.

The video quality isnt the best (c'mon its over 10 years old) but its worth it. A re-mastered edition with more extras would've made it a five-star flick.

Summary: yes ineed scary
Review: i would have to say that this is a scary movie but i would have to disagree with tha last reviewer about being the best vampire movie. "Interview With The Vampire" to me is the greatest vampire movie of all time. but this movie is worth the money. so go and get it.

Summary: The "King" of all vampire movies.
Review: I'll make this short but sweet. The mini-series is the best vampire movie ever, period. The book by King is his best yet. There are 2 versions of this movie one is barely 2hrs. long. I don't know why they did it, all I do know is, it should be avoided. I actually bought it and as soon as I watched it I realized what a butcher job they did to a great movie. They cut out most of the plot and character development so by all means avoid this edited piece of [junk]. If you find the mini-series on tape or on t.v. watch it. As far as acting and story line go, you simply will not find a more brilliantly made horror movie. This is King story telling at it's best and as I said it's the King of Vampire movies.

Summary: great movie
Review: Ok so the book is better andit's to long almost, It does slow down in parts and all but once the action starts ot roll near the end you will be on the edge of your seat! I remember seeing this movie on TBS and always wishing for a clear version and this dvd is it, with a very clear pictutre and good sound this is a well made dvd. But it has no extras at all and while some may not like it i say that for the price it's a steal extras or no!

If you like Vampires then give this a try and waste a few hours.

Summary: Fun Fright Film Despite Gaping Plot Holes!
Review: I was 12 when I first watched the miniseries and it was pretty scary. Stephen King's novel is one the finest vampire novels. Enough time has gone by that it should be remade, keeping some changes thta were made for the TV movie, but adding other elements from the book, including fixing some of the plot holes. The major one is (and I can't believe I've never heard anyone else mention this) that Susan Norton and Mark Petrie are captured by Straker. Mark escapes just as Ben and Dr. Norton (in the TV movie) are arrrving. Ben kills Barlow as the sun sets and then sets fire to the Marsten House, burning the vampires inside. So, how does Susan appear at the end as a vampire? Barlow never got out of his coffin. And, if somehow the other vampires got her, (we see them waking up and Susan is not in the cellar)she would have burned up with the others. No, this was overlooked because Barlow was not dispatched in the novel much later, at Eva Miller's Boarding House. But with the condensing of the book to TV, this major gaff got by everyone involved. Still, it is a good TV movie with man fine moments. I just wished that the film makers had paid more attention to the details.

Summary: Horrid and Lame
Review: I have only seen the movie once and that was when it was originally shown on T.V. It was so bad that I have never wanted to see it again. I am a huge Stephen King fan and, as a matter of fact, the first book that I read by Stephen King was "Salem's Lot". The hairs on the back of my neck stood on end. And did likewise when I read it the second time. Which is one of the reasons, if not the main reason, I was looking forward to the film adaptation. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. As mentioned in other reviews, from the old saying - books don't translate well to film. But, maybe one should try to judge o film on its own merit....BUT NOT THIS ONE.

Summary: YOU'LL BE MEETING MR. BARLOW SOON ENOUGH
Review: This is the version of this movie to see. When edited this movie becomes confusing. But in this version, long the way it was meant to be, every caracter is easily understood, and it is one heck of a scary movie.
