Rating: Summary: Ummmm...OK...I'm lost..... Review: Seems as though I'm the only one who HATED this movie.lol This movie made NO sense what-so-ever,had a brain-numbing plot and not enough GORE!!! If you're suffering from insomnia then buy this movie....you'll be counting sheep in NO time at all.
Rating: Summary: a good movie Review: this dvd was one of the best buys i've made.
Rating: Summary: My favorite for an afternoon in the snow!! Review: When the radio calls out that school is closed for that day-long winter snowstorm, shovel the walkway, make the hot chocolate and bunker-down for an afternoon with one of the best story tellers! Stephen King's creepy blizzard set on a small-town New England island in Maine (of course) is a great way to spend 4 hours snowed-in and on the edge of your seat. The direction and performances in SOTC are outmatched only by the fine special effects (the SNOW!), and if you happen to live somewhere where it doesn't snow, this 4 hour flick will make you believe you're in need of a bag of ice-melt and a snow plow! A true Must-See!
Rating: Summary: Craig R. Baxley wherever you are... be proud of this one. Review: This is an extremely good TV movie. Great cast, pace, suspense, cinematography. Steven King's so good with story. It could've been a half-hour shorter, but it's brilliant. It's so good, it makes me wonder what ever happened to Craig R. Baxley? He's a strong director. Craig, wherever you are... this is very good work.
Rating: Summary: What a STORM! What a CENTURY! Review: This HAS GOT TO BE one of the BEST EVER King movie's I have ever seen. I too saw the original Mini-series on Television and was entirely intrigued. I must say the Ending was a surprise to me and a FIRST! For those who haven't seen it, I SUGGEST SEE IT A.S.A.P. I was thrilled to see a movie where the "bad" guy actually walked away victorious.
Rating: Summary: "Born in lust, turn to dust. Born in sin, come on in." Review: ...so goes that creepy little poem that Andre so gleefully says. Despite being 4 hours and 16 minutes long, this miniseries is captivating all the way through. The ending will leave you emotionally hanged. And the commentary by King is fascinating. Truly, one of the best Stephen King tv movies ever!
Rating: Summary: " Good fiction is truth" from On Writing by Stephen King... Review: The above quote is from the only Stephen King book I have ever read ( On Writing is a non-fictional account of how King developed his writing craft). I liked it so much that I bought Storm of the Century. Boy what a dissapointment!! Storm seemed like a poor crossing of Cape Fear, Perfect Storm and Sophie's Choice. But what really let me down was the crass disregard for credible story telling. Two examples: 1) The bad guy freezes a door in order for the blood-stained, gunshot-carrying hero (can a hero be this dumb?) to be "forced" to escort an ultra dangerous psycopath killer through a supermarket aisle crammed with mesmerized island people ( who can't keep a safe distance); conveniently nobody thinks of even shielding a child in the room from facing the murderer nose-to-nose--- at that point, I said to myself, this scene is so unnatural, so forced ( not truth) that this child has to be the eventual victim. 2) Later a young woman horribly and openly kills her lover. Do the town-people take any precautions against further maniac actions by her? Island people could not think of such logic; instead they actually put her in charge of safe-guarding the same child! Mr. King can ask 200 islander (and their children, acquaintances, visitors, etc.) to forever keep this farce a secret, but I am one viewer that cannot. Okay, Mr. King, I will excuse you on this one, inasmuch as this was made for TV. I will see Shining and report back, hopefully cheerfully.
Rating: Summary: No Doubt This Is Kings Best Movie Ever!!!!! Review: This is a great movie with a perfect plot, great acting and a perfect ending(though somwhat off a very sad ending)but a great way to end it.Before the coming of the storm of the century a dark stranger arrives in town.A dark stranger that is nothing more than satan himself. He starts killing people and then leaving a messege in there blood saying "GIVE ME WHAT I WANT AND ILL GO AWAY" though noone knows what it means so he continues to reak havoc.Later he is then cought and jailed by the towns sherrif.Though even if he is tucked away in his cell he still som how manages to kill people using tellepathy(mind control)and has them killing them selfs. This the leaves the town very puzzled and they start to panic.Later the stranger escapes but starts leaving more clues and soon the sherrif puts this together but can he give the dark stranger what he wants??The acting is supurb and the actors have lots of depth. There is not that much gore though so it may dissapoint some of you gore lovers out there. The ending is very sad and wasint what I was expecting because basically the main characters life is completely ruind because he loses both his son and his wife but Im not going to tell you how.The F/X is awesome and the movie has a very chilling atmosphere to it.The movie is very long and is often boring in parts but its worth is to watch it al the way through to get the great plot and story statistics. You have goto see this movie and Im positive that you steven king horror movie fans will love it.Check it out or buy it!!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic biblical tale of moral choice Review: We may only imagine how good the full-sized novel would be, given the quality of the script film adaptation. Snip: (...)
Rating: Summary: Great Movie!! Review: This movie is great. One thing i think is bad about the DVD, is that there are not many special features. There are a few but i ezpected more for such a long movie that is originally a miny series. Still a good movie. But i think there could be more features or maybe 2 discs.
