Summary: Those damn vampires!
Review: This black comedy brilliantly combines terror and hilarity, with more than a nod to it's progenitor, Polanski's "The Fearless Vampire Killers." And, believe it or not, there's a riveting discussion of both films in the book, "The Vampire Film: From Nosferatu to Interview With the Vampire."

Summary: Dated, but hangs in there
Review: This movie is a cultural icon for people who came of age in the late 80's. I have a cousin who says this is one of her two favorite movies, the other one being Sid and Nancy. In the movie Reservoir Dogs, a character mentions Lost Boys in dialog. I thought it was okay but not as cool or stylish as people make it out to be. Maybe you had to see this as a teenager in the 80's to appreciate it that way. On the plus side, Lost Boys does have some good comedy and Jami Gertz is always pleasant to look at. For entertaining movies about modern vampires try: Innocent Blood, Dracula 2000, or the first Blade movie.

Summary: An odd vamp flick
Review: This has to be one of the odd ball vampire movie ever. Think "Dracula" by way of "Peter Pan" with the Brat Pack cast. The plot is that a young kid (Corey Heim) is the only one who believes his brother (Jason Patrick) is in danger from vampires. His only allies are a couple of other kids who learned everything they know about vampire killing from comic books. The lead vamp is a smugly charming psychotic (Kiefer Sutherland) who just dosn't want to grow up, and now dosn't have to. The brother got involved with this gang by (what else) a lovely girl (Jamie Gertz). It is starnge movie, it's not a comedy, but it's funny; it's not horror, but it has some scary moments; it's not a drama, but there's enough side stories here to make "Days of Our Lives" green with envy. Diane Wiest is probably my favorite actress, as the concerned, but clueless, mother. I would have given it a better rating, but it was all over the map.

Summary: all the damn vampires
Review: an 80's flick to this day stands the time of a great vampire movie, with great music and some cool vampire killings. Jason Patric plays Michael and he is transformed into one of them, Patric falls for Jamie Gertz. Kiefer Sutherland is the leader of the four vampire ghouls. one of them is Alex Winter(who is Ted in Bill and Ted). Corey Haim and Corey Feldman dont play brothers in this but new friends who help Michael defeat the boys. the grandpa is way awesome and that bit at that end where he says, "the one this I hated about living in Sante Carlo, all the damn vampires" or he said something like that and thats classic. Ed Herrmann is nicely put in as The Master

Summary: Cheesy, mildly entertaining 80's Flick
Review: "The Lost Boys" is an average teeny bopper flick from the 80's. It's notable only for a couple of decent performances, some funny one-liners, and one of the first gay protagonists in a teen movie history. Corey Haim's character is supposed to be gay! The film never tells you this, but drops hints all over the place. Look at the flamboyent way he dresses. He has no interest in women and, in fact, gets annoyed with his older brother for chasing after the stunning Jami Gertz. He sings a woman's song in the tub. And how about that poster of a half-clad Rob Lowe in his bedroom? (In 1987, no heterosexual teenage boy in his right mind would have had a picture of a half-naked Rob Lowe in his bedroom!) Director Joel Schummacher is out and I have no question that he meant for this character to be gay. Although, I do wonder if he told poor Corey Haim about this decision. (Speaking of poor Corey. The last I heard he attempted to sell his teeth and hair on E-Bay in order to raise money for his pain-killer drug habit.)

Summary: Those "lost boys" still haunt me to this day...
Review: This may be one of the very best films of its genre. No, it actually is. I first saw The Lost Boys at a local movie theater when I was a little girl, and it has always been the best movie I have ever seen in a theater. I was only five, but I remember even now that I was haunted by the characters, the plot and the music for days afterward. Joel Shumacher wanted to create a dream-like feel to his work, and he knew exactly what he was doing. Truly original, it was very eighties and contemporary but still manages, in some way, to remain a classic as well. It's interesting to find out how different the former version of the script was from how the film turned out. The Lost Boys was actually being rewritten in some areas even as it was being filmed. (Some of the best things happen by accident or on spur of the moment.) Kiefer Sutherland as David, the nastiest bloodsucker of the four nocturnal dudes, can't be matched. His sinister laugh, his blood-draining gaze, and that incredible, very, very sexy voice, makes half the movie what it is. Jason Patric just seemed right as Michael. He has a quietness about him that makes him seem vulnerable yet tough at the same time. A very believable, very natural performance. Jami Gertz was beautiful and did her thing as the lone female vampire. She wasn't the annoying girl you usually want killed off. Instead, you look forward to when she appears in the next scene. I really like the way she potrays Star to be so mysterious and almost ethereal.
I had to get this on DVD (I found the soundtrack as well and pop it in when I take breaks while studying). Once in a while, you come across a movie that you can see a thousand times and never get tired of it. The Lost Boys is one of them.

P.S. There may be talks of doing a sequel to this film. I'm not sure. Maybe there still is, maybe there was at one time but not any longer. Please, please, anybody -- everybody -- DO NOT LET THAT SEQUEL HAPPEN. Without a doubt, it would be a stake through the heart of the original ... and its fans.

Summary: The best movie of the 80's! The Lost Boys rule!
Review: "Sleep all day, party all night, never grow old, never die...its good to be a vampire!" Haha awesome line...and has way funny one-liners.(like 'worms!' 'you don't like rice? a billion chinese people can't be wrong!' ) This movie rocks...best 80's flick and better than any of those stupid 80's movie sherry watches! Way cool sound track too...'people are strange' and 'though shall not fall' (that karen, listening to that all day...she thinks she's a vampire). I'm trying to get my good cousin mander to watch it too...she better have watched it by the time this review comes out! This movie has already cracked my top 20 movie list and karen's and derrick's list. As for that derrick fellow, he's one funny dude. He was trying to be like micheal and eat maggots. Everytime he eats rice, I say: "your eating maggots derrick" Hahah, but derrick wants to be one of the frog brothers. he thinks he's a vampire hunter so the other day he went to church and filled his water gun with holy water! then he went up to karen and started squirting her. after karen didn't sizzle like a vampire, karen punched that fat bloke of a derrick straight in the stomach and knocked him out. "If there's one thing I can't stomach in santa cruz, its these damn VAMPIRES!" hahha man 'people are strange'

Summary: This is the greatest vampire movie ever!
Review: This is by far the best vampire movie I have ever seen. I looked at it for the first time when I was about 9 years old and I've watched this movie a million times since then. Great mix of action, adventure, romance, horror. This set the standard for all vampire movies behind them. None of them have been able to compare to this classic. Get this movie. ITS THE GREATEST VAMPIRE MOVIE EVER!
