Rating: Summary: only school project level Review: I could gave B+ grade if this is a school project, but that was somebody pay me to watch it and it was my duty to watch it and I generally want to gave encouragement to my student. But I still will tell them try to hold the camera still next time. Good job in creating this hype.
Rating: Summary: A very scary movie and a high-quality DVD Review: First, the movie: BWP is one of the top three scariest movies I can think of AND it is a triumph of filmmaking because it accomplishes this feat while thumbing its nose at all the tiresome, worn-out Hollywood formulas we've seen so many times before. Many people say they don't like this movie because there's "no payoff" or for other, similar reasons. I totally disagree. For ONCE, we can see a horror movie where the audience can really feel scared along with the characters! Several of the complaints people have raised (I won't mention them specifically) are the exact reasons this movie is so GOOD! Do we really need million-dollar special effects to feel the thrill of movie-horror? NO! We don't need them and I, for one, don't want them. Give me great acting, a convincing story-line, and (FINALLY) an original, non-formulaic style, and I'm on board! But don't listen to me... see the movie and decide for yourself. Now the DVD: This DVD is a good buy or rental because it contains lots of additional material which adds to the experience of seeing the movie, much in the way that the BWP website does. One of the cool things about BWP is that this is the first very popular film to successfully integrate the movie experience with the online experience. Those guys (at Artisan Films) understand internet and computer technology and how to use it to enhance the viewer's experience.
Rating: Summary: Boring Review: I was very disappointed. I bought it for halloween and invited friends over. There were one or two points that were spooky but for the most part we had a chuckle. The "campy" movie I rented was more scarey
Rating: Summary: very cunning psychological thriller - plays with your mind! Review: i went to see the blair witch project with little enthusiasm - the reviews i had read were far from promising. i found myself laughing through the supposed 'scary' scenes, and cring and cringing through the funny parts - so corny!!!!!! However after the film i started to think - the film's weird!!! it plays with your mind, and makes you nervous and agitated. The ending was sudden, and to top it all off, there was no cast list at the end (just a swell really, it would have given the game away!) All in all, i think this film will last n your minds, and will probably come to haunt you one day in the future - A good film with clever parts that stick in your mind, and toil and play, until your brain is controlled by some other force,....oh and you cant sleep for the first 2 days after you see the film!!!!
Rating: Summary: About as scary as a rerun of Gilligan's Island Review: Imagine a horror movie where you never see the killer & the murders all take place off-camera. A true disappointment.
Rating: Summary: Worst movie of the century Review: I consider myself fairly sophisticated when it comes to movies. I have loved movies my entire life and I usually love critically acclaimed films, especially odd and obscure ones. I love art house films! The Blair Witch Project, however, has completely baffled me with its' success. It is, with no exaggeration, the worst movie I have ever seen. I found it to be almost unwatchable and it was not scary in the least. The actors are irritating and the dialog is insane and repetitive. It is a gimmick which has gone over quite well. I would not recommend buying this dvd if you have not seen it yet, unless you want to use it as a frisbee.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: A group of 8 friends went to see this movie last week. We all knew it wasn't real, we all were very excited to see it because of the reviews, hype etc., and we all were expecting to be pretty scared. Half of us really liked it, and half of us really didn't. 1) Jumpy camera - Ugh! The whole film was like this. I was nauseated almost the entire time and 2 of my friends had headaches from the camera moving around so much. All of us at one point in time had to look away or close our eyes because the camera was making us sick. 2) Scary vs. Not Scary - Half of us thought it was scary, and the other half thought it wasn't. I was part of the former, and at no time did I feel any anxiety or get spooked, and I almost always get scared in movies. I think if maybe I wasn't so nauseated from the camera movement, I would have been scared. 3) Realistic - We all agreed that the film had the feeling of being authentic. Also the behavior of the actors towards each other was pretty believable, especially after being lost, tired, hungry, and scared. Some things needed work, like, who would have the presence of mind to turn on their camera every time they were scared out of their wits? And the woods of Maryland aren't that big, with minimal knowledge/skill, it's not plausible that someone could get lost for several days there. 4) Unique film - We all agreed that it was a unique film and the concept was a very good one. Overall, I was really disappointed, but I don't know if that is a reason to discourage other from seeing it. My advice is to go into it knowing that there seems to be two camps of thought - you either love it or hate it.
Rating: Summary: Worst horror ever ? Review: I am sorry to say that this is one of the worst 'horror' films I have ever seen. I understand their attempt to make the film look like real footage but the quality of the picture was too bad at times. The acting was neither realistic or even just good acting. This film as been compared to The Exorcist many times but does not even come close to the classic horror picture. I waited quite a while to see this film but unfortunately was let down considerably. Summary: Don't Bother.....
Rating: Summary: Heather should have died first! Review: Waited till the last of the trick-or-treaters were gone, couldn't wait to watch "the scary as hell" movie on Halloween night. Boy, what a let-down. I was so agitated by the annoying antics of these three, I felt they deserved whatever they had coming. What a waste of a great premise.
Rating: Summary: Most Original Ever Review: Whoa! Low budget spectacular, this film is original and scary. On the edge of your seat entertaiment, with a solid cast of nobodys. I'm personally tired of computer generated monsters and dinosaurs, but this is hardcore filming at it's best. With all the hype, it's still under rated, way to go guys.
