Summary: This is no "Exorcist".
Review: I was in Europe when this movie debuted in theaters, and I couldn't wait to see it. After watching the video, I found myself feeling sorry for the folks who paid more than the $2.50 I did to see it. The premise is clever, but I found the characters annoying, the storyline slow and the abject horror to be missing. In the end, it was just another bad B-horror movie without the blood and gore. Perhaps the real crime is comparing "Blair Witch" to the "Exorcist", arguably the scariest movie of all time.

Summary: Don't listen to the HYPE!
Review: Once again a way over hyped movie, just watch it for a good bit of suspence and terror, and some excellent acting all round, very realistic. All these stories of people running out of the cinema screaming etc is way over the top. What you will hear at the end of the movie is a sigh and everyone saying "is that it! ",because once again they have listened to the hype!.

Summary: The Fear occurs several days after you see the movie....
Review: When I first saw the movie, I thought it was pretty absorbing....I had seen a documentary on the local cable channel about the Blair legend (no doubt part of the marketing campaign). It was very convincing...it really looked like something that the Discovery Channel would make.... A few days later, I saw the movie in the theatres... Though at the time, I thought it was absorbing...l didn't really think that it was that scarry.... But now after a few days, everytime I walk alone in the dark near a wooded place or look out of my window (which is facing some wooded areas) at night...I get that strange eerry feeling down my spine...My imagination starts running overtime as scenes from the movie flashes through my conciousness.....

Indeed the movie was just a catalyst for my own imagination to create fear and anxiety... Any movie that can leave this lingering thought (much like Jaws did for me in the 70'[s) is definately doing something right.....

Summary: INSTANT CULT CLASSIC
Review: I am dissapointed to see the bad reviews written about this film by people who obviously didn't give it a chance. If they were to watch this film alone, late at night they would encounter a whole new experience. If you let it, this film can involve you like no other. I consider myself a hardened horror fan desensitized by excessive dark viewing. However, this film resensitized (does that word exist?)me and invoked feelings of fear and impending dread that I never thought possible from a film. By the end my chest felt bruised from the onslaught of my breath holding. Many people have criticised the ending of this film, but maybe that's because they didn't listen at the beginning to understand it, as has been the case with many of the people who i've confronted. In my opinion the ending is one of the best and most disturbing i've seen and will haunt you for weeks afterwards. The low budget of this film is what makes it so great, it achieves using no special effects what other films spened millions (and still fail) on trying to achieve. If anyone would like to argue my views please do e-mail me.

Summary: Pretty Good for a documentary, not that scary though
Review: I thoght the Blair Witch Project was a very well made movie. I thought it did a good job of capturing the viewers attention. But coming from me, a 12 year old who used to be afraid of Movie Theaters the Blair Witch Project was not scary at all. I thought it was spooky, but scary, no. The only times that were the least bit spooky were at night and they only scared you if you belived in it. I was watching it with my 13 year old cousin, who is braver than i am and he was hiding under the covers he was so scared. I reccomend this movies to anyone who likes to be spooked or scared but watch out for the jumpy scenes. They'll make you naucious.

Summary: Masterpiece of fear
Review: It is quite simply said, everyone who likes to let their imagination run wild, this movie will probably be the biggest scare you will ever encounter. No fancy special effects or incredible settings, but a masterpiece of film. This is a must see. Open up... and be terrified.

Summary: If you go with an open mind then it is a great film
Review: After hearing mixed reviews from friends I decided to go to see Blair Witch Project at the cinema for full effect. After parting with my £5.20 ($8 for all you people in the US) I duly began to watch the film and thought it was a bit dull to start with. After I got round the fact that this could be a true story, and not just a film, I began to enjoy it a whole lot more. For people wanting blood and guts don't go and see it, but for those who want a more subtle horror then this is the film. It's not what you see but what you don't see that plays on your mind and gets you thinking. I was gripped by this film and once you get round the dodgy camera movement, it is probably one of the best horror films ever. The end scene is one of the best endings to any film I have ever seen; and for the budget this film gets near to the top of my all time favourites. Go see it with an open mind is all I say.

Summary: pretty good, not bad
Review: I think that BW is good for all the things that it's not; a Hollywood big budget movie, incredible special effects, lots of blood and gore. There are perhaps two or three truly intense, scary scenes but I think what's equally good about this film is the how the relationships between the main characters deteriorates as they become further lost in the woods.

post scriptum - I think that there is no witch; I think either the fishermen and/or that dude who seemed to know alot about how the children died did it.

post post scriptum - the cam work was so shaky that my wife starting getting sick and couldn't watch the whole film.

Summary: I don't get people
Review: I don't understand why so many people complained about this movie. What's wrong? Too scary? Not gorey enough? You need everything spelled out in large-face type? What is it? I've even heard people b*^@# about the fact that you don't see anything. That everything is implied. THAT'S THE POINT! Don't watch this if you're actually scared by Jason movies. But if little noises in the night make you wonder what's making them...well...you probably shouldn't watch this if you're also a light sleeper, cuz this'll scare the crap out of you. I recommend watching 'Curse of the Blair Witch' BEFORE seeing 'Project.' They work well together, and neither one is very long, so it's not like you're watching 'Gone with the Wind Project.'
