Rating: Summary: Insomnia cure or WHAT ? Review: Sorry, but this has to be the biggest turkey of 1999. Interesting dialogue would have been good instead of "cool, hey man, f**k you" etc. To be honest, death came as a relief at the end of this. I don't think I've ever been so happy to see (or sit and read) the closing credits in my entire life. An episode of the Muppets is scarier than this trash.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't work Review: I am posting because I did not like the other negative reviews. I will start by stating a few things: 1) I knew this movie was not a true story, so I have no sense of being manipulated 2) the language and camerawork did not offend/bother me either. The problem is this movie is a concept movie - that is all. It is a good idea and an inventive filmaking technique. The result, however, is sub-par. The movie consists of day-lost and bicker/night-hearing sounds and being scared...repeat. This becomes repetitive and boring. The limited script and director interference hurts the film. Horror especially needs tight control to create real suspense and horror. Hitchcock was a prime example - he controlled every single frame and was obsessive about his control - resulting in technical and theatrical brilliance. By the second night within this film, I wanted the characters to die because they were annoying me. You never become attatched to any of them and the fact that you know they will die from the beginning (the whole premise of finding the films) eliminates tension and true fear because you know they are finished anyway. If you do not know the end, and want them to make it while watching, then that would be a big shock to see them die. Oh well...
Rating: Summary: 10 days and nights wandering around in the bush is too long Review: Thank you for making a low budget movie that can compete with the usual mediocrity Hollywood puts out. The BWP is useful just to get out into the world and have an impact. I like to bushwack in the woods and it just isn't believeable that three people could wander around the woods for so long that they couldn't have found a telephone line, logging road, house etc . . . I think the movie makers should have shortened the timespan to about two days, that would have been believeable. Yet the movie plays into our sense of fear of nature, of being outside of our homes, our cars, our routine lives and puts us into something new. The actors acted like teenagers/adolescents and that was a strength too. But with a low budget non traditional movie you've got to get all the details right and this one didn't quite create the perfect ambience to make everything fall into place for me.
Rating: Summary: Terrible! Review: This movie is awful. There is unnecissary swearing, and terrible filming. It was terribly boring. It just started to get a bit interesting at the end, but then the movie suddenly ends unnexpectedly. To think of all the money that this movie made is the only scary part. If you were planning on seeing this don't!
Rating: Summary: THE MOST BREATH TAKING Review: I dare to say it is the most scary film I have ever read about.lots of minds have been captured and thought about it,and obviously there are lots of different reactions as well, but there are unique things in this movie that are seen in the way it built. Choosing the atmosphere of the jungle in order to make the film is the best alternative.the camera by entering to this scary environment take the audience deeply to the heart of the film.
Rating: Summary: Overhyped and really boring... Review: This movie did not live up to it's hype. It was extremely boring and the scare factor was a 0! In a nutshell... Amateurish and intolerable. Viewer beware: if you get car sick this movie will do the same.
Rating: Summary: Not that good! Review: A decent film by aspiring film makers. I was not scared though, maybe a few chills every once and a while. It was a short movie, but it seemed to drag on forever. I hated the female character, she had a vulgar mouth and her acting was terrible. I was very disappointed in the ending. I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Rent at your own risk!
Rating: Summary: WHAT WERE PEOPLE THINKING ! Review: This has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen... About the only thing that it was good for was a good Laugh... And the funniest thing is people believe this movie is for real.... Come on - get real... The whole thing is a good hoax (just like the radio version of War of the Worlds). That is the only credit that I will give this movie... And that is what is being given the star... The people who created it - fooled a lot of people and made a lot of money.....
Rating: Summary: Terrible, terrible, terrible Review: This was a loooooooong drawn out mock documentary. Extremely thin plot and freewheeling acting -- obviously no script. Not much detail about the "Blair Witch", this movie just went on and on and on -- going in circles just as the three characters did. The ending came as a total surprise. There was no advance warning of what was coming and no revelation of what had actually happened --- it just ended. Well, I guess that's what happens in mock documentaries!
Rating: Summary: It's what you don't see. Review: Great movie! Maybe the best I've seen. I guess the thing I really liked about it was that there was no hand holding. No carbon copy, cookie cutter Hollywood baloney. It left a lot to your imagination and the workings of your mind.
