Rating: Summary: How does "RETARDED" sound? Review: Oh, BOO HOO HOO! My wife and I looked at each other during the film, wondering when it was going to GET scary. I really hate to start bursting bubbles, but if this scares you, please stay away from all haunted houses, because if you actually believe in a movie like this, then you will fall for anything! Personally, I believe in Jesus. My relationship with Him blows me out of the water. Not some stupid movie with the F word all the time. Gimme a break!
Rating: Summary: Lock Your Doors Review: I have never seen a film that frightened me more. After this film, I went home, locked all my doors and windows, then went and double-checked them. I went to bed. Then I got up and triple-checked my doors and windows. And I did this for several nights following. I do not scare easily. I can eat dinner while watching a slasher film; I can read Stephen King novels, and books about Jack the Ripper right before bedtime, yet still sleep peacefully. But this movie had me. Not only was I on the edge of my seat the whole time, but the ending froze me. The ending is one of the best I've ever seen, and the most frightening part of this very scary film. This film scares by suggestion, and has virtually no gore. The directors realize that no special effect is more powerful than the audience's imaginations, so they deliberately probe our minds, spurring the most horrible imaginings. If you want the pants scared off of you, this is the film you want.
Rating: Summary: Not Really Good, But Original!!! Review: I must say I thought this movie was kind of dumb and the only reason I even like it is because of the originality. There has never really been a movie released like this before. I think one of the reasons this movie gets so many good reviews is because of the hype of this movie during it's release. I would recommend that if you want to see this movie you should rent it, save your money. After watching this movie I did have a headache from all the cameras moving constantly(so if you get dizzy easily watch out). I must say the director of this movie must have a creative mind.
Rating: Summary: dont go into the woods Review: I watched this movie about in 99 when it came out on video, didnt see it in the theaters because I wanted to wait till like around Halloween to see it. my cousin Shawn rented it and thats the first time I saw The Matrix as well. I enjoyed this movie, it left you with chills at the end, its like, oh so thats whats up. the whole movie seems like a persons missing video and they just found it. very good performances and there are a lot of scenes where your really terrifyed, like when there is rushling on the tent and they all run the hell outta there or the dolls hanging everywhere or the noises or the cut off ear. pure genius and its a low budget movie but its worthy
Rating: Summary: Completely Realistic! Scary To The Bone! Review: Perhaps "unsettling" is the best word to describe 1999's runaway hit, "The Blair Witch Project". As the film's characters travel deeper and deeper into the woods (and the unknown), this "unsettling" feeling persists, until we almost feel as if we [the movie-watcher] are taking part in the action on the screen. I think "Blair Witch" puts its audience "into" this film better, perhaps, than any movie before or since. It's a "What would I do if I were him/her?" type of picture nearly all the way through. You can't help but put yourself into the shoes of the actors on the screen. There are two scenes, in particular, of undeniable terror shown in this movie. Anyone having seen the film probably can figure out which two I feel are the most terror-filled. So much so, in this writer's view, they are unsettling enough to literally form chills upon one's spine. I cannot recall, offhand, any other movie that has inspired this reaction so intensely. The fact that we MAY or may NOT encounter some supernatural phenomenon as the days drag on during the course of the movie makes our journey into the unknown seem, at times, almost unbearable and intensely foreboding. Had we actually visualized (in either human or monster-like form) the terror which stalks these frightened characters, then the film would not have been nearly as effective as it turned out being. The "we won't show it" policy utilized by the Blair Witch filmmakers was a very wise decision, in my opinion. The handheld camcorder images we see throughout the movie lend even more of a realistic quality to what we are witnessing. Many people find this film laughable; or just plain "not scary". I'm not in that group by a longshot. Just the opposite. This film is a gem among horror motion pictures.
Rating: Summary: Utterly banal and wholly reprehensible. Review: If you happen to be one of the poor fools who, even for a second, believed the hype of the Blair Witch project around the time of its Cinematic release, then do yourself a favour and get lost in the woods. The 'movie' is basically shot, almost unwatchably, on Super-8, and asks us to consider the three hapless, witless protagonists as they run about in a forest screaming at anything that moves. Nothing happens until the final three minutes, and by then, you care so little for the 'gang' that you long to see them dispatched in a gruesome fashion. Little men made of twigs and blurry hankerchiefs with red stains on them pass as supposedly scary imagery, and the standard of acting could be considered illegal most everywhere in the world. Sadly, I can award a one-star minimum to this ridiculous piece of dribble (I would very much like to give it no stars at all, and set it on fire, just to make sure nobody will ever see it again), and I strongly urge anybody on the market for a scary movie to buy something else, ANYTHING else, before The Blair Witch Project. Mommie Dearest has better actors and The Sound Of Music is scarier. It's not clever, it's not edgy, and it most certainly is not fit for human consumption. Avoid like the ebola virus.
Rating: Summary: my rate would be negative 4 if it was possible.. Review: This movie was not a quarter as good as everybody says it was. I rented it because I expectet a scary horror movie, but noooo >_> First of, they are affrait of EVERYTHING (even stones and sticks). Secondly its not scary to see 3 dorks who get each other in the way be scared all night because of some noises... and thirdlt the ending was just plain idiotic: (Soilers) they start to scream like crazy (dont ask me why) and the camera falls to the floor, interessting, isn't it? o_O May I add that the F-Word is a huge part of theyr vocabulary? Every sentence contains at least 5 F-words, its not even funny.... I dont, and i mean DONT like this movie and never will.
Rating: Summary: I really, really, really did not like this movie Review: Those kids were so dumb. I mean, so stupid. And the plot it so ridiculous. Just foolish. Maybe if this had been a better production, if they had sold the idea to some real writers who could have added more depth to the movie, added a little professionalism to the production, maybe that could have salvaged something; but I doubt it. BWP is just a bad movie. About half way through the movie I completely lost any sympathy for the kids. I wanted them to die, if nothing more than for being so annoying. They were annoying, whiny, stupid people. This editing, cinematography, directing, and acting were horrible. The ONLY thing at all redeaming was the initial premise. God I did not like this movie.
Rating: Summary: The Bland Witch Project Review: A very bland amateur production where the only suspense is wondering what could be so frightening about this movie. One would think that young adults out in the woods would have a little more composure than the way the characters behave in this movie; they appear to be nothing more than a bunch of cub scouts scared to death by some stupid campfire tale. Alltogether a very stupid movie about a bunch of skiddish wimps who couldn't find their way out of their own homes. This has to be the most overhyped idiotic "horror" movie that I have ever seen: even the prepubecent teaser "Scream" series had more suspense than this pile of garbage.
Rating: Summary: TRUE TERROR Review: This movie is one of the only movies I have ever seen that still scares the living hell out of me when I think about it! I love this movie because I am a die hard horror movie fan, and am usually not scared by any horror movie whatsoever, but this one did the trick! There is nothing scarier than that of the unknown. It is unbelievable how much more scared you get from something you can't see, but only can imagine! You never see the Blair Witch in this movie, and that is what makes it so scary! Just imagining how terryfying the big picture is will scare the crap out of anyone! This movie is hands down the scariest movie since The Exorcist, and has a completely new way of making audiences' blood chill! Watch this movie and experience a new world of horror that has never been seen before! (This movie may create a phobia of going into the woods for some viewers. Don't watch this unless you can handle true supernatural terror.)
