Rating: Summary: WITCH You Were Here !!! Review: Your hair stands up to its end, the flesh of your mouth ( is ) slack, your face looks vampire-pale and sweaty damp, and you just sit still that way looking blankly dull: ( no medical school certificate required to identify your symptom as ) The first sign of S-H-O-C-K. That could happen to some of you after seeing the very last 05 minute scenes or even the very last scary shot.It all began around mid 90s when three skeptical college students went out on the documentary-shooting journey to discover the legendary Blair witch who was beleived had been living and hunting in the deep dark Burkittsville, Maryland forest. They went there, explored and were beleived to find what they had been looking for. They NEVER came back. Three years later their footage was found and that' s the beginning of one of Hollywood' s low-budget scariest witch tales on film ever. Handheld camera shooting, the kind you can find in normal household's family footage, creating very natural, real-life images. Ad lib script / screenplay naturally ably improvised by three promising newbred talents makes this film unique in its own way.The amazing outcome is what happens when these three student characters, being treated like in real situation, were left in an unknown territory with limited food and water supply and basic camping tools, briefly informed about what they would face at night and how they were expected to react to it. To give you a measure, just pretend to be in their shoes and imagine yourself in middle of nowhere lost, helpless, desperate, hungry, tensed, scared and unsure, knowing that an unknown evil entity is messing with your mind and, above all, your life !!! It' s not what you see that scares you- it' s what you can' t see. There' s nothing you can do except being scared. Be very scared !
Rating: Summary: Take this up for a good scare Review: I know, I know, many people claim the Blair Witch Project to be "cheesy", "fake", and ridiculously amateur. I disagree. Would the ending of Empire Strikes Back have had the same impact if the ending was already blurted out all over the plcae, and your friends dropped subtle hints onto the actual story line of the movie? I saw this movie in the theatre the day of its theatrical release, and I went in cold. Not only by the end of the movie was I absolutely terrified of the woods, I was so convinced of the acting given by the three actors, I thought "Man, if they are acting, they are going to win an oscar for sure." The psuedo-documentary feel is really deepens the impact the movie has with such small details as Heather asking a man's permission to have his image placed on camera. I highly recommend that you view this movie, but I highly recommend that let yourself form your own opinions. It is quite conceivable that many people didn't understand the tie-in with the ending, and just wrote the movie off as cheesy, and then spread their opinion to others, who has already judged the movie befoire seeing it. The Blair Witch Project definetly completes the kob it aspires too, creating a pyschological feeling of terror and anxiety.
Rating: Summary: Manages To Push Its Way To The Top Review: "The Blair Witch Project" manages to push its way to the top. Because the film is shot entirely with 16mm cameras (supposedly by the three filmakers who dissapeared), this causes the characters to be holding the cameras through times when filming would be the last thing on anyone's mind. And the girl is anything but an enjoyable character. Despite "The Blair Witch Projects" fondles, it is a genuinley scary and rather intriquing film.
Rating: Summary: So bad, it's good! Review: Funny stuff. I was able to suspend my disbelief for almost 20 minutes. I give the creative team two points for originality. I especially liked the deleted scenes, and the commentary track was interesting.
Rating: Summary: Now that all the fuss is over, Review: ...a guy can get a word in without a barrage of opposing reviews to follow it. No, it is not the scariest movie ever, but don't blame the movie, blame Artisan. The same thing happened to poor old "Truman Show" (Remember that? "Best Movie of the Decade!" If it weren't plastered in big white letters it might have been). What it is, however, is a nice cyncical look at human nature, as three filmmakers spiral down into a hell that they themselves create. So why did I like this movie and you didn't? I saw it before you, in March, when it wasn't hurtled into the mass stoning session of summer movie theatres. Also, I really liked it. Not for its supposed scariness, but for its in-depth look at the human psyche. All of the characters swallow themselves up until the audience is not sure whom to root for. Not since the excellent yet ultimately depressing "Life is Beautiful" has a film been so blatantly misconstrued by its distributors. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: Stylish and Scary Review: Despite the fact that this little movie was grossly over-hyped, it still delivers on what it promises: a visually fresh and psychologically scary odyssey into the unknown. While combining an ultra-modern documentary-style filmmaking technique with the old-fashioned "less is more" philosophy, the filmmakers have succeeded in making something original and genuinely frightening. Although I didn't think it was totally terrifying, I do feel it was suspensful and scary enough. The real appeal is the exploration in human psychology, as we see the breakdowns that fear, disorientation, and physical discomfort can cause. The young actors did a great job portraying their emotions, and hopefully they will move on from here. I recommend this movie to genre buffs and curious fans alike. It is satisfying and fun.
Rating: Summary: What is all the fuss about? Review: Don't waste your money on this trash. Better yet, don't waste your time viewing it. It is so amateurish and non-scary it is laughable. On DVD it's even worse because of the poor quality of how they filmed it. Get out your own video camera...you'll do a better job.
Rating: Summary: bad. Review: Highly overrated and not scary at all. I expected something better. mostly what you hear throughout the whole movie is some idiot complaining about seeing the same log over and over and over again.
Rating: Summary: Very original; very scary! Review: It seems that most of you won't agree with me when I say THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT was a wonderful movie! Few films scare me, but this one was very frightening! I originally saw it in theatres, and when I left I had no fingernails left! The film is a little slow, but it quickly picks up the pace, and the ending is very shocking! I also liked this one, because it was very different from other movies. It was shot with a different camera, had no sound effects, no music, no special effects, and wonderful acting! Although Josh, Michael, and Heather are all alive, they sure could have fooled me! I hear they're making a sequel, and I hope it's as scary and entertaining as this one :)
Rating: Summary: If you have a low IQ stay away from this movie. Review: If you are a fan of mindless gore, high budgets, the same story told over and over. Or no story at all this movie is not for you.
