Rating: Summary: A revolutionary bit of movie Review: After reading most of these reviews, I think some people have lost track of what it was about. Firstly, some people ahve commented on it being all hype. This movie had a nearly non-existant advertising campaign, outside of the internet, and that was totally paid for by the makers. The entire movie was done for less than 100,000 dollars! Seriously! Although I can see why people say it wasn't scary at all, to think that this is anything less than revolutionary is a joke. This is something that's NEVER been done before. If you get motion sickness easily, wait for it on video...
Rating: Summary: I Love this movie Review: I first got interested in this movie when i saw a short trailer at the theatre, the concept was very original. Later my sister told me she didn't like it and called it "the worst movie". But i got the feeling i would like it, and so it was. It was better than i have expected, it was original in the concept, the drama was unpredictable, the players were very naturals, and the photography was so real it was like watching the TV news. I'm sorry that some people didn't like it, but there are movies for all tastes; if you like movies with lots of accion, gore, and blood bath, this is not for you; but if you like deep drama, suspese, psycological thrillers, and originally written movies you'll love this one.
Rating: Summary: Nothing like I've ever seen. Review: If you're sick and tired of typical Hollywood fare and want to see a REAL movie made by REAL people, then "The Blair Witch Project" is for you. Heck, even I thought that what happened in that "documentary" was real. That film was so scary, I cannot even step out of my house without this illusion that the trees outside my house look like that voodoo stick figure in "Blair Witch". I cannot even go to sleep without wondering if there is something under my bed.
Rating: Summary: Some what believable. Review: I thought that this was very well constructed considering that the actors, directors, etc. were novices. The only draw back that I felt, was the language that came out of their mouths. Is it really necessary to show ones lack of knowledge or apt stupidity with the word F_ _ _ being used in todays vocabulary like a craved candy bar.
Rating: Summary: Don't Miss This One! Review: I really liked this movie! And that is really saying something since I havn't seen a really good horror movie in years. I like horror movies to be realistic or they don't do as much for me,and this is the most realistic movie I have ever seen because of the use of camcorders to film the movie. This is a must see movie for people who like realistic looking horror films!
Rating: Summary: The Blair Witch Peoject-A Hell of a good scare. Review: In October of 1994, three student filmmakers, disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland, while shooting a documentary, about the legend of the Blair Witch...A Year Later, their footage was found. Not! Who cares if The Blair Witch Project is really a faux documentary? The movie is still scary as Hell! Mike Williams, Heather Donahue, and Josh Leonard play the three ill fated college students, who vanish without a trace, and the Blair Witch Project if the footage they shot. Now edited for our viewing. Heather Donahue performance stands out as the backbone of the three(she really deserves an Oscar nomination, although I doubt she gets it, due to the fact that this is an Independant film). Through the Hell that these three endure, she still carries on her quest(obsesively) to film a documentary, filming arguments between the three, still persueing her dream to film. Daniel Myrick, and Eduardo Sanchez prove that you don't have to have expensive special effects and lighting to scare and thrill people. The Blair Witch Project was rumored to have cost $40,000 to make and is still much more effective, than todays big budget films. Be prepared to sleep with the lights on.
Rating: Summary: Don't believe the hype! Review: 5 minutes into the movie and I was already waiting for it to end. I think people who are into this movie just like the hype surrounding it. Making a movie camcorder style has been done before. It's just that these guys did a little better job at it and the media hyped it up (not to be confused with advertising hype...though it's getting hard to differentiate the two). My point can clearly be seen by the fact that some people loved it and other hated it. Just look at the other star ratings. It's either 5 stars or 1. Very few in between. I myself hated it and thought it was a waste of time and money. Actually the most annoying part was the girl. I think most people will agree with me on that.
Rating: Summary: did not stand up to my expectations!!! Review: well i got to say that the blair witch was not all that it was craked up to be. i guess that i went in there with to high of expectations. but either way, between the motion sickness and the antisipation to be scared out of my wits (which never happened) the only good thing was the acting, you could really see the panic set in at the end. but other than the acting i found the movie to be neither scary nor interesting. maybe if it would have been real i could of gave it a better review....but it was not. so i guess that i got to say that i would not even give it one star....sorry
Rating: Summary: I taught all BLAIR creators so of course I think it is good. Review: Super use of a filmmakers' lacks and turning them into strengths. See my book about the making of BLAIR and the Haxan Films story from the guy who taught them all at film school (UCF), "Doc" Charles Harpole.
Rating: Summary: Pulled out of your *** gripping horror Review: These students did a fantastic job. I have worked on films for film majors where a lot of their work is just pulled out of their *** in the last few seconds of a dead line for a graded project. Some turn out well others not so well. The Blair Witch Project was exectued extremely well. It is great to see that there is a market for struggling student made films. This movie scared the crap out of me and I hope to see more like it.
