Summary: One of the most overrated movies in recent memory.
Review: You can try to convince me that the BWP is a good movie. You can insult my intelligence and taste, as one rather agitated writer from Van Nuys, CA, did below. You can compare this movie to great horror classics of the past. But ultimately you will fail to convince me for one simple reason: this isn't a very good movie, horror or otherwise.

Like many of you, I was psyched to see this movie because I had heard it was "the new face of horror" (more unfounded exaggeration from clueless critics). After it ended, I felt like a good friend had just stolen my wallet. I felt empty, disappointed and disillusioned. This was what everyone was carrying on about? Are you kidding?

Of course the marketing campaign for "The Blair Witch Project" was brilliant. It had to be, considering the film itself was little more than three actors arguing, yelling and running around in the woods. Silly and monotonous, yes. Scary, nope. What the makers of "Blair Witch" seem to have forgotten is that, in cinema, an unseen tormentor is frightening for only so long. Eventually, there has to be a visual payoff. In other words, something tangible the audience can be scared of. Otherwise, tedium sets in. Hollywood's best horror films, including "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Halloween," and "The Shining," all subscribe to this proven formula, and the results are truly terrifying.

I am not criticizing the shaky camera work, the excessive screaming, whatever. I am criticizing the fact that what we basically have here are three "actors" (I use the term loosely) carrying on for 2 hours about some unseen presence that creates rather striking folk art out of rocks and twigs. This evil presence, whatever it is, is certainly a gifted artist but he ain't the least bit scary. Not until the final 10 minutes of the movie do we get a situation that is actually menacing and creepy, which is why I gave this movie two stars rather than one. But by then, it is too late to salvage the film.

I love people who try to defend overrated junk like this by patronizing me and talking down to me. Let 'em. All the trash talk in the world won't make this a good movie.

Summary: The worst movie I've ever seen !
Review: This movie is a waste of time and money ! This movie is very boring and has no plot at all. You just keep waiting for something to happen and nothing happens !

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wasn't as scary as the hype, but still a great movie
Review: I think that this movie is a breakthrough in the film industry. The filmakers did a great job making the movie look and feel like a true story. The fact that they made up the entire myth makes it even better. A must see!

Summary: Realistic as hell!
Review: All I want to say is that The Blair Witch Project is an extremely clever and scary movie, no doubt. It gets you, I promise! It messes with your mind for a while..

Summary: This movie is not all it was cracked up to be.
Review: I know I've read it several times in the previous reviews, I must not be intelligent enough. Fine if it takes intelligence to suspend my belief to this degree, I would rather be stupid.

I'm sorry but I don't understand what all the hoopla is about. These people acted as idiotic as any in any other slasher film. You hear a noise in the dark, turn off the light in the tent. Must have to be stupid to know that trick. Hey your lost, first don't throw away the map. Second try walking next to the river until you find your way out. Again, you have to be a moron to try these.

Don't get me wrong the concept was very good but with the hype and hysteria surrounding this film, it was not worth it.

I can try to suspend my belief as much as the next person, but in no time in my life have I ever been afraid of a witch. No more than say being possessed by the devil. The concepts are not that scary.

Every time I have gone to the show to see a scary film the movies that scared me the most were the films where it really could happen to you. To make the film's even better, I like seeing people act like they have a brain. Make an intelligent decision. Hear a noise, don't try to find it in the dark.

By the way, when did a pile of rock's become frightning? That must be me being stupid. Sorry all of you smart people with those awsome imaginations, it's not that great a film. But go on and keep loving it that's what they are there for and why you get to have your intelligent opinion and I have mine.

I do feel you everyone should make up their own mind and it may be better if you could have a not so hyped opinion. I think the fact that it only has 3 1/2 star average say's alot.

Summary: A Classic!!
Review: This horror film should go down as one of the best in history. It is not meant for gore-worshippers or Independence Day type movie lovers. It's aimed at the imaginative child in all of us....remember when you were scared of the dark and all that was hidden? Watch the movie closely, immerse yourself into their world. Only then will you truly appreciate the absolute horror this movie is about. Do not bother seeing this movie if you're idea of horror is "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Only intelligent, imaginative minds will appreciate Blair Witch.

Summary: A--For Effort, D--For Implementation
Review: I give them credit for creating a relatively unique film. There aren't too many like The Blair Witch Project. So it's a unique experience for most people.

I wish more movie producers/directors/writers would realize that you don't have to see the scary thing to be scared. In fact, your own imagination is much better at scaring you that any special effect ever could be. So I give this film a great deal of credit, from that perspective.

My real complaint is that the suspense didn't build slowly enough. Your mind and body need time to accept an increase in suspense. This didn't happen. They spent too much time on the preliminaries and then seemed to have little time left to scare you.

Because this will be a new movie experience for many people. I do encourage you to see the film. However, rent it, don't own it. Once is more than enough.

Summary: Interesting....but very dissapointing at the end....
Review: This movie was very original and had some interesting parts. Like others have said...I think it would have been extremely scary if we didn't know it was fiction. But, since we did, the camera work was shaky, which is understandable but got annoying after awhile. I was also annoyed by the "F" word being used in every other line. This may have been to make it more "real", but I have to say that my friends don't use the "F" word that many times in one day. But....I enjoyed this movie, it seemed short though and just when I was really getting into it, it went off! I was so let down by the ending. I don't think scary describes this movie best. I think "creepy" is more like it. I could watch it again.

Summary: Worth The Money To Rent?
Review: The movie was okay. It tried to bring back the classicness of older horror films. What i enjoyed most about the movie was that instead of these guys trying to be total bad boys, they were broken down mentally. For a first movie. They did a great job. And hope to see more of their work in the future. And it's nice to view a movie that does'nt include millions of dollars in graphics and all that stuff. It's worth the money to rent it.

Summary: Not all that impressive
Review: I gave one star for cleverness nd the other for the fact that I thought Mikey was pretty well acted. Rmemeber that. Acted... While the fear may have been real on these actors, what having little idea what they were actually doing, it wasn't real. It was fake... people don't seem to remember that.

And, the other reason i didn't like it? I didn't see any witch, and i could easily explain everything in the movie... a little to simple to be creepy.
