Rating: Summary: Can't get the final image out of my head Review: It's not the filmmaker's fault that this movie (and its premise) was so well-circulated after its release. I believe that had the film not entered the mainstream, it might have been better served. For example, say the average horror fan found this film at their video store and knew NOTHING about it. My guess is that they would have been sufficiently creeped out and a cult (as opposed to a summer smash) would have been born. By the time I saw Blair Witch Project, the conceit was so well-publicized and undermined ("it's not really real"), that the real fun of the movie was robbed. If you could watch this film without being entirely sure whether or not you were watching actual footage, the impact would be drastically increased. Unfortunately, I was not afforded that chance and I watched it on its own merits. Surprisingly, I was still pulled in. Yes - I was periodically restless at the repetitive elements. Yes - the camera shaking grew tiresome. Still...the last ten minutes grabbed me. The final image kind of disturbed me. Then I went back and watched the last sequence again and it REALLY disturbed me. In fact, I can't get it out of my head in the week since I watched it. I'm of the opinion that this movie essentially functions as a campfire tale. There is a set-up, a long build-up, and a cold-blooded punchline. If you heard the story around a campfire in the woods, the teller of the tale would likely add the traditional scary oomph by assuring you that "it REALLY happened". You wouldn't believe that part of course. But after lights out, as you lay in your tent ... you'd wonder and you'd worry. That's what I think the filmmakers had in mind -and they got me.
Rating: Summary: It wasn't all that good. Review: It wasn't what everyone tried to make it out to be. They said it would keep me on the edge of my seat. But it didn't even do that. I almost fell asleep a couple times.
Rating: Summary: not bad Review: It was a fairly ok movie but not quite as scary as I had thought.
Rating: Summary: iT'S A FAIRLY SCARY real type LIFE movie Review: HI MY NAME IS BOB AND I LIKED THIS MOVIE BECAUSE IT PLAYS AS IF IT IS REAL LIFE AND YOU ARE INVOLVED. aLSO ADD TO THE FACT THAT IT SHOWS NO SCARY SCENCES BUT STILL SCARE THE HELL!!!! OUT OF YOU!!!!!
Rating: Summary: All Hype & No Scare Review: I heard the great reviews of this movie, and really looked forward to seeing it. It was not even the least bit scary. The "you have to have an active imagination" rebuttal used against its critics just doesn't hold up. I'm not sure what I was supposed to imagine? What was outside the tent? Would they ever find their way out? It just wasn't very inspiring. Great marketing job, but the movie really fell short on substance.

Rating: Summary: Completely overrated Review: I can't believe that people were raving about this movie. OK, the innovative camera use, and switching between video and 16mm was good. But the plot got boring in many places. The ending was not tied up in any way. So what happened to Josh? And why was Michael standing in the corner? And WAS there a witch or was it just some "crazies" living in the house? If the movie was more exciting and/or really scary/suspenseful, I wouldn't have cared - I would've been caught up in the film - but I wasn't. Very overrated film. The directors have a good eye, but need better work on a script.
Rating: Summary: A VERY STARTLING MOVIE Review: THIS WAS A VERY SCARY MOVIE. I NEVER TOOK MY EYES OFF THE SCREEN. IT KEPT ME WONDERING WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND WHO WAS DOING ALL THE KILLING. A TERRIFIC MOVIE FOR HALLOWEEN OR ANYTIME YOU WANT A BIG SCARE.I DIDN'T LIKE THE FACT THAT WE NEVER GOT TO ACTUALLY SEE THE WITCH THOUGH.
Rating: Summary: TORTURE Review: I can't believe that there were people who actually believe this story really happened. Come on, if there had really been three film students missing, we all would have known about this "story" months ago. Of course, I had to see the movie for myself, and I was never so bored in my life. Obviously people who liked this movie are the same people who are believing that Elvis and Karen Carpenter faked their deaths and are living a secret married life somewhere.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: The Blair Witch Project did live up to the hype. Its unfortunate that alot people didn't like. It must be hard for them going thru life with no imagination. I felt everyting about the movie was great. I found the the whole concept to be very frightening. For those who didn't "get it" are probably still clutching their copy of "Titanic" close to their chests.
