Rating: Summary: A pretty good movie... Review: Boring? hardly. "The Greatest moviesince the Exorcist"? No way. Let's think about it, and put ourselves into the shoes of those kids. They reacted like college kids, especially in their arguing. How many college kids do you know who don't swear to the extreme when they're agitated? ((no offense to college students)) There was a little too much shrieking, I must admit. I would have liked it if it had been like the "Scooby Doo Project" and you caught glimpses of SOMETHING, but not long enough to discern what it was. As HR Geiger proved in Alien, it's what you don't see that scares you, but showing bits and pieces of it can blow your mind. I don't say, either, that those who were bored with it are ignorant savages, because they may just not have liked the style of it. I know that there are many books I have put down in the middle of them ((Ahem...think Star Wars: New Rebellion)) because of paperthin characters, poor, stereotyped plot, etc...but this movie deserves at least a rental and an opportunity to make one's own choice.
Rating: Summary: At Last, A Movie Made In the Footsteps of Hitchcock! Review: It's refreshing to see a movie challenge the imagination of it's viewers. Alfred Hitchcock dared movie goers in years past with the fears and frights of our own experiences and imagination. It's so refreshing to see a movie where every little detail isn't shown or explained. I'm glad to see someone try something new-- maybe it's not perfect, but Hitchcock wasn't always perfect either.
Rating: Summary: It had an interesting plot, but could have been scarier Review: Well the hole plot with the mysterias legends were interesting. I think more should have been done to scare the vieweres. The movie was slow at getting to it's point. The limited information gave viewers the opprotunity to use their imagination, but I do beleave a little more should have been given. I liked the legend itself, but more should have occured in the movie.
Rating: Summary: Very, very good but not perfect Review: The verdict in my house was two to two. Myself and my oldestson loved it and found it compelling and very scary. My wife and other son just didn't get it and found it boring and not very scary at all. So what to make out of this? First of all, I did not like the endless swearing. I'm not a prude but after a short while, all of the "f-ing" loses it's ability to shock and makes the user(s) sound unintelligent and uneducated. I have 4 boys from 22 to 13 and have heard the words a few times. Despite this critisism I liked this movie a lot. Hitchcock has stated that the anticipation of an action is more frightening than the act. I believe this movie hits this bulls-eye. You don't see the boogyman but so what! If you let yourself become attuned to what's going on (mixed with some personal experiences camping in the woods?) I think one can appreciate this a whole lot more. You really have to listen to what's going on both with the actors and in the background and you have to WATCH THE MOVIE! If you are only half-way interested and not paying attention you'll never understand this movie's ability to frighten. I only give this a 4 star as the result of my family's decidedly mixed reactions and the excessive (no matter how realistic) amounts of swearing. You will either love this or hate it....there seems to be little in between.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing, scary as a mud puddle. Review: I had high hopes for this movie, and it let me down completely. Bad acting, unneeded and constant use of the F word. Undeveloped story... The main characters totally unlikeable. I personally couldn't wait until they were killed off. It could have been a great movie, but the producer/director/actors would all have to be changed and a writer who knows how to develop a story would have to be hired. I gave it one star only because zero wasn't in the menu.
Rating: Summary: The Blair Witch Project Review: It keeps you interested in the movie, the whole time that you watch it. An extremely good movie with a brand new way of making movie magic.
Rating: Summary: :-( Review: Well I must say - this film certainly does not live up to all the hype! The only reason I can see why people said it made them feel ill was from the camera shaking around! The scariest part of this film had to have been when my friends coat feel off the wall on to me! You spend the whole time thinking this is pants, and make yourself believe it'll be worth the wait since something 'scary' will happen soon! I'm still waiting!
Rating: Summary: The best hoax I've ever seen. Review: Even though it's obvious that this didn't happen (because noone I know remembers the 3 punks disappearing), it was very clever and original. I had absolutely no interest in seeing the film because the Sci-Fi Channel's fake documentary had me completely sold, and I'm an insomniac as it is. But if you want to scare the s--t out of people with something fake, this is the way to do it.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Review: I was a ok movie, it started off rather slow. I was not as scarry as I expected and I was dissapointed. I wll not see this movie again.
Rating: Summary: Digital quality Review: Even though this is a new release, the digital quality provided by DVD makes this chilling story even better! It seems scarier, more real, and overall a better movie than on the big screen.
