Rating: Summary: Clearly One Of The Worst "Movies" Ever Made Review: I feel I must "vote" to counterbalance all the positive reviews of this flick. I am truly, completely AMAZED that there are ANY positive reviews of this movie. The movie is as far from scary as it could possibly be. It is not scary, it is not interesting, it is not weird, it is vaguely coherent and it is certainly not entertaining. Terrible acting, lousy script, horribly directed. Plus, since it was created for TV originally, the scenes all fade to black after about 15 minutes. Why in the world they left the credits in the middle is beyond me. I assumed they would have reedited the mini series for video, taking out the fades, the first half credits in the middle of the movie, mabey even adding footage that couldn't be shown on TV or that didn't work originally with the timing issues of a TV broadcast...nope. This movie wouldn't frighten a 10 year old child. The only convincing performance is from John Ritter; the actor who played John Boy absolutely can not act. I can't believe this was deemed acceptable to air on TV, let alone to release on video and DVD. Though I purchased the video for only two dollars, I was robbed. I want my two dollars and three hours of my life back.
Rating: Summary: Made in 1990, lets look at the concept Review: I think that before you buy this movie, you should understand that it is fairly old, and made for TV, which automatically knocks the rating down. I have seen a fair amount of made-for-TV-movies, but this one is by far the best out of all of them. Not because it has scary special effects, or suspensful moments. It is because of the concept. Imagine for a moment that there really was a clown that could transform itself into your worst nightmares, and what's worse, only you can see it. If you can picture that, then you have found what makes this movie horror. It is not because of gore or suspense, but when you are up at 3 AM, delirious from lack of sleep, and staring around your dark bedroom all alone, you will find that the movie was much scarier then when you were watching IT.
Rating: Summary: Great entertainment Review: I own this miniseries on Laserdisc and it is still a great series after all these years. If you do not own this, get this dvd now. You will be entertained for three hours...
Rating: Summary: Sleep with the lights on! Review: A TV movie which receives a 5 star rating? I know, I can't believe I'm giving the movie this much stars. In fact, I can. IT proves to be one of King's top notch bestsellers and certainly one of his most chilling works. 'It' is a personification of all the evil that lurks beneath Maine, an evil that only children can see. The film focuses on a particular group of youngsters of whom 'It' preys on the most. It tells each child's own experience with 'It' and also focuses on their horrific experiences with 'It'. Tim Curry plays the murderous clown with unholy relish. As well as this, the musical score within the movie is enough to scare anyone for months. I'll say no more; watch the movie...if you dare
Rating: Summary: 'IT' Rules!!!!!!!!! Review: Have you been wandering the movie store aisles looking for a nice flick to watch at home with a bucket of popcorn? And you wandered into the horror section just to pass the time? And you know you hate horror? Or even if you do... Well, 'It' is nw my favorite movie. I was afraid of it when I was younger but now that I'm 12, this movie isn't scary at all. Take it from me, my mom HATES scary movie. She absolutely HATES them. But she willingly sat down and watched this movie with me. It can be a little exciting at parts though. (Horror fans, I am like you. I need a good scary movie. But this is just so odd and marvelous). A stephen king clasic! Horror fans will love it, and people who hate them, well, you'll enjoy it more than you thought you would. But to those people who need to know the "scary" parts before they see it, here goes. (NOTE: DONT READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED!!!!!) 1. Clown in storm drain kills kid. 2. Freakish clown face and odd voice. 3. Occasional "razor sharp teeth" from clown. 4. Giant spider (Don't worry, I hate spiders and it was TOO EASY to handle). 5. Blood coming from sink. 6. Picture coming to life and clown coming out of it. 7. Gorey sequences 8. Suicide in bathtub (you dont actual see him dying tho) 9. clown coming up from school shower drain 10. Shower nozzles coming to life 11. and many more... Don;t worry. 'It' rules!!!
Rating: Summary: Not a review, but a warning to fans of the movie. Review: For pre-existing fans of this movie, only: Before you buy this DVD, you need to be aware of a few things. One, for some oddball reason, the movie has been released in widescreen format (widescreen makes sense for a theatrical film, but for a TV movie it accomplishes nothing but cutting off some of the picture). Two, there is a little bit of material missing from the beginning of the second half (the scene in which Bill is pestered by Bettiruth, and the shot of Bill in his room asking, "What the hell am I doing here?") The deleted material isn't that big a deal, and some may say I'm nitpicking, but if you're a perfectionist like myself it's probably going to annoy you. Bottom line: this is a fun (although cheesy) movie hampered by some bone-headed formatting decisions. I sort of wish I'd just held on to my ancient VHS copy and skipped this one (although the commentary track is nice).
Rating: Summary: Read the book Review: The book is great; the movie is terrible.
Rating: Summary: IT Horror at its best Review: The movie had a certain sense to it that only King could bring out in his writing, although directed by someone else, the movie like most of his other novels takes place in Maine. Maybe he has a conflict with his home? I gave it five stars based on how he uses the shape-shifting ability to grab the childrens worst fears and bring them to the surface, that maybe have been put away for a long time. Like me for instance i'm 17 and I don't have a real problem with clowns tell I see the movie and I just have a dfferent outlook on clowns. Tim Curry, (the clown),pulled the horror look and off beautifly, best choice, I think. if you wan't a well thought out, no running up-stairs tripping dumb woman, no-plot and one of the best scripts ever this is the, "BEST", choice. This movie got me started on horror maybe you.
Rating: Summary: Starts out in great style but doesn't stay the distance Review: The first 90 mins. of this miniseries is really good, and builds up a lot of promise for things to come. But, as we see all too often, delivery is far more difficult than promise. The final confrontation had better been left out if this was the best execution they could come up with; a distinct "C"-movie feeling is what you are left with at the end. And maybe that's exactly what this series is. Nevertheless I found Pennywise to be one of the scariest characters on TV and some scenes (especially in the first two thirds) are very well done - they would get 5 stars in this genre.
Rating: Summary: A VERY CREEPY CLOWN MOVIE! Review: This movie is my second favorite! I loved this movie ever since I saw it on SCI-FI! I went out and bought and watched it all in one night! I love Pennywise. He is funny one moment, then creepy the next. This is by far the best story by Stephen King. I love the horror and gory parts in it. Especially the "Tea Time" chapter! This is well worth the money if you want a good scare!
