Rating: Summary: I got region 4 but it's the same version as region 1 Review: The DVD itself is just average. For a TV mini series, I'd say we're lucky to even get a commentary track. The good news is that this DVD has nothing cut out unlike the edited VHS version we have in Australia. The scenes that was missing in the Australian VHS version is where Henry escapes from Juniper Hills (where Pennywise's head turns into a dog's head), also a long discussion where the adult loser's club is talking about how the whole town is "IT". Other than that there were also some scenes that ended before the music had stopped or screen had faded but luckily the DVD has all of the proper footage. The picture and sound quality is decent throughout the entire disc. The region 4 DVD is double-sided so it has part 1 of "IT" on one side of the disc and to watch part 2 of "IT" you have to flip the disc over (I'm assuming this is the same as the region 1 version). I'm not really too fond of double-sided DVD's as they're easier to scratch and such but I'm just telling you this in case you'd rather avoid them and such. Fans of "IT" shall enjoy the DVD.
Rating: Summary: Beep Beep Richie Review: I like this movie, across its from Stephen king, it has to be good.It was.Him and Freddy has something in common, the both funny.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest books of all time was turned into... Review: ...one of the most rediculously awful film adaptations i have ever seen. this is seriously a HUGE letdown for someone who has read the entire 1000+ book. either a memorable seen from the book was ruined in careless acting, or they just left a scene out all together. many of the characters you grew to love in the book aren't interesting here. Stephen King describes them to the point that you FEEL and UNDERSTAND there emotions. the movie desplays them as boring kids you couldn't give a crap about. the worst part by far was what they did to It. the book portrays the beast as something very desgusting and evil in graphic detail. the movie uses it as Pennywise the Clown 85% of the time, and you feel like laghing more than shivering. plus, they kill It after a fight that seems to last a matter of seconds. in the book, the fight is incredibly long, and SO MANY differant things happen(if i told you it would spoil the story). anyways, maybe i am a bit harsh on this movie, but people like me who have been huge fans of this story, and find that it is put in such crap like this can't help but feel terribly upset. 1/10
Rating: Summary: Unsatisfactory Review: This wasn't an utter failure, but some of the "scary" parts made me laugh. Like the scene with Eddie in the shower, and the clown coming up from the drain. I suppose it would have been scarier had I been alone in the house at night or something... but I had been expecting a lot worse after reading the book, It by Stephen King, which remains my favorite book of all time. Perhaps I was laughing out of desperation for some enjoyment in life after this mediocre performance of the book I love. Not terrible, but not really worth it unless you're truly interested.
Rating: Summary: Great Film Review: Yes It is very different than the novel, but you can't compare the two. One is aiming for the Movie viewers and the other to the avid reader. Good theme but a made for TV film so there's some cheesy Parts. From a Movie Director to you, Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: could be good if there wasn't a book to base it on Review: The book "It" is absolutely wonderful and very humorous in my opinion. You just fall in love with the characters. This movie is absolutely awful compared to the book. First of all, I hated the characters, they were nothing like the book and second of all they MADE A MOCKERY OF EDDIE'S DEATH. Movies have to leave out a lot of things, especially when the book is so full of information, but the movie left out the ritual of chud, which is how they really killed the monster and the house on neibolt street, which i think is just awful. If you want a movie that will put you right to sleep, go for it. This movie was not scary at all!!!
Rating: Summary: On my list of Scariest movies of all time Review: Stephen King's It is undoubtedly the scariest movie I've ever seen! When I first seen "It" I was so intrigued! I just never seen anything like "It" before. It's so original and so different from other horror movies.I love the story it really grabs you! The movie at times is so touching, scary, and suspensful. The Book is all these things too and more!!I haven't read the whole book yet (I'm 369 pages into IT)but, I must say the movie follows the book pretty well.No the movie doesn't have everthing in the book, but it has a few things.I think some people don't give Tommy Lee Wallace enough credit for "IT." I mean,he does a very good job considering his limited budget and the fact that he hasn't made a good movie in the past. That's another thing (concerning the budget).......I mean IT is labled a "T.V. MOVIE" yet IT on the whole doesn't feel like one. This is because at some times IT transcends the T.V. Movie boundaries and becomes so engrossing and intense that you forget IT is a movie that went straight to T.V. Only rarely then soon...... occasionly IT feels like a T.V. Movie and that my reader is when they Play that old T.V. Movie clich`e.........the Darn MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!! The music is creepy at times, but at other times it's the stupid T.V. Movie music!!!! Why did Tommy Lee Wallace allow this!!!! I know I wouldn't have!!!! It's like Wallace kept in mind that this movie is not going to theathers but to T.V. so it doesn't really matter.Anyway,I suppose you can take that as a small complaint, along with this other one:The Screen Play (like the music) works wonderfully at times but at other times it just doesn't work! Let me give you a sample: (Those of you who have seen IT will know what I talking about) Beverly Marsh says,"Why does IT do these things!" "Why is IT so mean!!!" (I mean come on !!!)and the other I'm about to tell you is even worse: Eddie Kasprack says,"I believe in the Easter Bunny,I believe in the Tooth Fairy I don't Believe in you!" And that my fellow reader is the two minor flaws in the script. But they are truly minor considering this movie is so scray!!! How scary I think "IT" is well let me put it this way,The only reason I will not purchase "IT" is because IT is just too scary it really isn't worth the nighmares! I might buy IT though, if I can muster up the courage...I mean I bought the book.Anyway that's all I have to say, seeyeah.
Rating: Summary: in the top 5 Review: this movie was great. i watched it once as a kid and was terrified beyond belief. now i'm 23, and i still cover my eyes on some parts. stephen king has been the master of horror all the way back to the christine days. he really did it this time though. this movie was intended to give you the creeps more than anything else. for instance, the atmosphere of the town was always wet and gloomy. plus, pennywise appears in the weirdest places like the shower room and graveyard scene, which adds to the scares. it is a very unique movie. it's make you develop a phobia of clowns that will stick with you for quite a while. i only wish they could have included tim reid in the final parts of the film (him being one of the main chars and all). one last thing, the gas station scene has to be the creepiest scene i've ever watched in a horror movie.
Rating: Summary: ONE FREAKING SCARY CLOWN!!! OR WHATEVER "IT" IS! Review: Let me just say that stephen king is the BEST AUTHOR!!! most of his movies (with the exception of dreamcatcher and the tommyknockers) have scared the socks off me! This movie (along with Pet sematary and The shining) scare me every time i watch them. anyway "it" is about these seven kids (or the loser's club as they call them-selves) who live in a town where "it" lives. they go out and try to kill it (there is more but this is just where i am going to start) and they think they do but they really don't! so about 30 years later mike (on of the kids but now a grown man) still lives in dairy (the town where "it" lives) and "it" comes back so he calls up all his buddies and they all come back and go and try to kill "it" Again. ok i left out a lot of stuff but thats just so you will find out for your-self! I urge you to go rent this movie! but make sure you have a lot of time on your hands because this movie is around 3hrs! but its still way scary!!!
Rating: Summary: Unfaithful and untrue to one of the greatest books ever made Review: I will not bore you with a summary. BUT the book is simply breathtaking: it captures the essence of childhood, its writing is fantastic, its characters are superbly developed. The first half of the movie is half decent, with the kids acting pretty good. Some things it left out, but the real attrocities are with the second part. A LIST: Bill in the Void (Early and Late) sequences are completely cut out. These are extremely important. THE KIDS GO THROUGH THE RITUAL OF CHUD TOO--IN FACT, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO TRULY DO. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY DESCEND INTO THE LAIR OF IT ALSO. The filmmakers have no idea of 'He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.' When Georgie (or IT) comes back, this is Integral; it also showcases Bill's torment. BILL DENBROUGH BEATS THE DEVIL (II) , where Bill uses the last of his childhood to save his adulthood is totally screwed up. In the book it is coupled with his dreams, and feelings of love for his friends, yearning for childhood, and the knowledge of leaving his hometown. Actually it is much more than this. What I just described is completely omitted. AND HE DOES NOT STOP IN THE STREET HUGGING HIS WIFE. Also,THE FINAL FORM OF IT IS PORTRAYED LIKE CRUD. Do yourself, the source material, the original author, and more a favor, and DO NOT SEE this movie. READ THE BOOK. You will cry at how beautiful and sad it is (I am not kidding; if you do not believe me look at the book's reviews.) But do not spoil it with this utter crud.
