Summary: BEEP...BEEP
Review: I've been waiting for this film to come onto DVD for ages, and now I have finally got I can say that it is every bit as good as I remember. Like a lot of people I watched IT when I was quite young, maybe too young coz I do remember having nightmares for weeks about a clown with sharp teeth just appearing from nowhere. And one bit that I think scared me the most was when Annette O'Toole goes into her old house and has tea with the old woman, it made me not want to visit my Gran ever again! The thing IT did teach me was not to talk to or except things off of strangers, so maybe little kids should watch this film. This film isn't just scarey though there are some excellent moments when the kids are getting to know each other, and fight back against the bullies. Also Pennywise is quite funny especially the scene in the library with the exploding balloons.

There weren't many special features on this DVD, but what I did like was the cast and director commentry, which was quite interesting.

There are three things that I didn't like about this film, and they aren't really major things. The first is that the film is split into two sides of the DVD. I know this was originally a two part mini series but couldn't they put the whole 3 hours on one side of the disk. The second thing is, in the scene near the end of the film when the adults go into the sewer to find IT and they follow the paper boat, you can see the shadow of the camera and camera man against the tunnel wall as it's following the boat. These two things aren't really that bad, but the worse thing is the ending. A lot of people mention this but what an anticlimax... a big spider!!! I can't believe this was the scarest thing Mr King could come up with after the horror that was Pennywise.

All that said, I still think this is an excellent horror film that really does scare even 12 years on.

Summary: When you're down here, you'll float, too!!!
Review: When I saw this movie I was totally drawn in. It was haunting to say the least. Tim Curry plays Pennywise the clown. This is his second best performance( first being Dr.Frank N Furter )in Rocky Horror Picture Show. The rest of the cast are compelling as well. This film, originally a t.v.miniseries, will scare you! Besides the cheesy ending, this is top-notch horror that will change the way you view clowns forever. My girlfriend, Carly, testifies that this IS the scariest movie she has ever seen. This is Stephen King's best novel-to-movie, along with The Shining, another movie I recommend.

Summary: Long Waited Disc that should of been better as a movie
Review: This TV mini series was a frightener when released during the 90's. Tim Curry did an excellent job as Pennywise the clown just as he did in his cult classic "LEGEND". Whats good about this DVD is you get a better look at the movie thanks to the quality of the DVD and the special commentary track added to the film's special features that are inserted in this disc. The color and resolution is much better and the widescreen helps out a lot. I strongly recommmend you buy this disc to add it to your horror DVD collection. If you own the video your missing out on the next bestb thing.

Summary: something strange has happened to IT
Review: o.k. i am a great fan of wide screen films - IF THEY WERE MADE THAT WAY!!!
the story itself is my all time favorite stephen king mini-series adaptation. (as usual the book is much better, but getting king from page to screen has always been a hard thing to do) i have this thing about clowns-hate 'em. period. they freak me out, i don't know why...
so, when the book came out i grabbed it up as did everyone else in the 80s and ingested it whole! when i heard about the mini-series, i was leary of it till i heard that tim curry would be IT. he is perfectly cast in this and is absolutly menacing!

i gave this dvd 4 stars cuz i had to take one away for pretending this was ever a wide screen film. the practice of pan-n-scan on wide screen films is bad enough (and we now usually get both options to choose from) but letterboxing a tv movie or the dasterdly work of letterboxing a theatrical movie (as they did with gone with the wind) is apauling! it DOES cut into the picture and only gives anti-wide screen people like this [person] ... amunition for their propiganda pages.

Summary: King's best novel gets the best made-for-TV adaptaion
Review: This is a rather well-done adaptation of one of King's finest works. There are actually some chilling scenes, which is a rarity for a made-for-TV-movie.
It is the story of seven childhood friends who band together to beat an evil entity, only to have it resurface 30 years later. The friends, having made a pact to return and defeat the evil should it ever come back, must face their fears as adults and fulfill their promise.
The strength of the book, which is the friendship formed between the kids in a town inhabited by evil, can't be exactly mirrored on the small screen, but, again, a fine job at hitting most of the important points.
CAUTION: The two-sided disc is incorrectly labeled "Full Screen" and "Widescreen." The "Full Screen" side is actually Part I, and the "Widescreen" side is Part II. If you don't know the chronology of the plot or haven't read the book, this could spoil some of the story. However, it is interesting to note that both parts still convey an effective plotline when viewed independent of one another.

Summary: Great Horror Film
Review: This movie scared the wits out of me when I was little and still does. This movie features a horrendous clown that terrorizes children then eats them. Six friends from 1960 regroup in 1990 to face the evil once and for all. No spoilers here, grab a bucket of popcorn flip on the DVD player and enjoy this.

Summary: IT: A Mind-Blower
Review: The problem with taking Stephen King out of the pages and translating him to the screen is that so much detail is often lost, costing the viewer the feel that was drawn from the actual novel. That all changes with "It"! Amazingly enough, a TV mini-series captured the best two facets of the novel: the evil of Pennywise the Clown (won't give away too much here), and the ability of a group of children, who dub themselves "The Loser's Club", to bond together in friendship with the common purpose of ending a killing machine that's been feasting upon their little Maine town for ages & ages.

The best part of this movie was Tim Curry, hands down. He played Pennywise in a campy fashion, but when Pennywise needed to be evil and ghastly....oh, brother, was Curry right on the money. Puts shivers down your spine. This is one that my children avoid at all costs because the nightmares aren't worth it to them.... but YOU'LL love it! Excellent horror story......well presented.

Summary: IT
Review: This film was indeed one that frightened me since my childhood and continues to do so now. Tim Curry as "Pennywise" or "IT" is magnificant and the cast creates a natural simplistic feel of a group of children in a eerie small New England town. If you enjoy Stephen King's work then you'll love this film. Although some scenes could have been better if allowed to show graphics, the film produces a terrifying response from all viewers. Not only does it provide a solid storyline, it leaves some scenes to the imagination which at times are incredibly petrifying. It questions your own town's mystique and will forever make you afraid of clowns. Enjoy it guys!
