Summary: What went wrong with the DVD
Review: Wow I loved this movie so much when it first came out and still do to this day! But here is what went wrong and right: First off the picture quality is amazing the colors look crisp and clear and bright very bright almost too bright for a horror movie. I was amazed at how the picture quality looked nothing like my old region 0 DVD of ROTLD it now looks as if the movie was released in 1995 instead of 1985! The nostaglia of this great film is now gone though because it looks nothing like I remembered it-which I guess is a somewhat good thing. But the picture quality is so bright and clear that you can notice the cheaper effects, sets, and makeup designs on the corpses and see how bad some of them look as opposed to being in awe of it's great effects by not noticing the imperfections. Also the soundtrack has been changed in some scenes and the tarman's voice is slightly deeper. The Director/artist Commentary is also horrible (now this is coming from a huge ROTLD fan!): Dan O' Bannon seems to be very if not too modest and shows great humility for his work but it is very boring and uninformative (and yes I usually LOVE commentaries!). The commentary consists of talk like: "oh there is Freddy" (Freddy walks in the room) "yep, and oh this is the army general", AND LITERALLY THAT's IT!!!! DUH we can see them walking in front of the camera don't tell me what I can see I'm not deaf! It seems to literally be commentary for a movie for the blind to watch! The commentary is so annoying that I felt like turning it off-Nothing, nothing informative!
I will definately stick to my original 2001 region 0 DVD release of ROTLD and probably never watch this new one again. Don't get me wrong this is my favorite movie of all time and I think everyone should see this great cult classic horror film.

Summary: This makes me very, very happy.
Review: The first time I really paid attention to this film was a few years ago when my girlfriend (at the time) and I sat down and watched it. Man, what a wicked zombie film! It's literally got everything a horror movie should have.

For years I've been searching for it on video, but Ebay prices were always high (and the bids rabid). The dude at the video store near my house started getting annoyed because I'd rent it and the late fees would pile up. Haha.

If you haven't seen this yet and are 'breaking into' horror then you must see this! If you're not into horror SEE IT! It's a great party flick or just one to kick back to when sippin' a beer with some (kind)buds.

Summary: The perfect deathrock sampler!
Review: The first time i'd seen the movie "Return of the Living Dead" the soundtrack stuck out in my mind... so many of these bands I hadn't heard before were well-represented. I'd heard The Cramps and The Damned before, but the rest of the artists were new to me... In some cases (45 Grave and The Flesh Eaters, for example) I had to go track down the artists' other material. This is a fantastic collection, not one filler cut on it! Highly, highly recommended!

Summary: THE GREATEST HORROR FLIC OF ALL TIME, WHO WANT TEST?
Review: In the opening credits, it stats that the movie was based on a true story. Imagine that! The finest horror flic of all time!
I've spent the last two years buying the original copies online. Because I thought they would never release it again. I even have the rare alternate ending w/ twelve minutes of never before seen material. Duriing the scene when the tyroxin turns into rain and begins to fall, it has the actual drawings that where used to make the film. Amazing! Anyway to make a long story short I'am absolutly exstatic that they are finally releasing this amazing film on DVD. I cant wait to see the special features
If anyone has doubts about this movie, believe me this movie is a must for anyone who enjoys movies.
SHOCKING, GOREY, INTERESTING, SUSPENSFUL AND FUNNY......THE ULTIMATE HORROR MOVIE...

Summary: The best Zombie movie I have ever seen
Review: This movie excells above the rest for it's genre. I have been looking for this movie for quite some time before I realized it was out of production. The sheer mix of horror, realism, and mild comedy makes this movie have terrific replay value. The fact that it portrays what it would be like to start to die while you are still alive is mind-boggling. YOU MUST OWN THIS MOVIE!!!

Summary: a zombie classic !
Review: This is one of the finest horror-comedies I have ever seen.
It's the perfect blend of hip-humor and clever horror. I don't know why this movie didn't get to dvd before now. It stands alone in the ROTLD series. Also recommended: Phantasm, Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, The Evil Dead.

Summary: Once a Great Film
Review: I used to like this film as a kid and I still do - but when I watched it recently I realized that in the great Pantheon of Zombie films, Return of the Living Dead isn't a terribly impressive achievement. While the update was novel - it certainly wasn't any better than Romero's Day of the Dead. But unlike Day of the Dead, Return never takes itself seriously - its saving grace it seems. Not as funny as I once remember, almost ridiculously dated, and sadly - in need of a remake itself. Better than the sequels however, which should have never been made.

Summary: This movie is and always was a classic!
Review: I am sooooo glad that MGM has decided to release this movie on DVD. I remember this movie growing up and it was always one of my favorite movies.

I always thought that the George Romero series of living dead movies were good, but a little too serious. This movie is tongue in cheek and that is what is so great about it. In my opinion Dan O'Bannon wrote a screenplay and made a movie that was far better that any of the George Romero movies. I know that Romero is considered a pioneer by many, but I think that this movie surpasses any of his films.

It should be evident to the movie studios by the grass roots campaign to get this DVD made that people are longing for movies the way that they used to be made i.e. 80's movies especially how they made 80's horror movies. How long has it been since any of the movie studios have made a really good horror movie? Lets compare this movie to other recent horror movies: Compared to lets say Jason X: kicks it's [rear].
Jeepers Creepers: kicks it's [rear]. Queen of the Dammed: kicks its [rear]. I Know What You Did Last Summer: kicks its butt. Final Destination: kicks its butt. All of the Scream movies: kicks their [rears]! Valentine, Killjoy, Carnival of Souls (remake), Urban Legend, and even the new Halloween movies (how ever many are there now along with the Jason movies), and many, many more movie too numerous to mention that get their [rears] kicked by this film. THE MOVIE STUDIOS SHOULD BE ASHAMED THAT THEY EVER MADE MOVIES LIKE THESE! They sold out to make a buck! Shame on them! And shame on the people that buy and go to see that [stuff].

Ok now on a lighter note, this movie is definitely a classic. I've even heard a rumor that there will be a directors cut if there is a good demand for these DVD's. So people buy this DVD!
