Rating: Summary: PREPARE TO BE SCARED MORE THAN YOU IMAGINE Review: This is THE ultimate horror movie. However, it goes beyond the typical blood and guts...it instills an instinctual fear toward the unknown - DEMONIC POSESSION! This movie depicts what is not only assumed to be real - it was based on a true story, not a directors imagination. If you keep that in mind while you watch this movie - i guarantee you will feel fear like none you've felt before - it is THAT frightening! This is the only movie that scares me more as an adult than it did when i was a child - because it takes advantage of what you know...and what you DON'T know about the underworld. ...So sit back, open your mind, and prepare to run to church - it's THE EXORCIST!
Rating: Summary: the best made and most horrifying film ever made Review: I saw "The Exorcist" in 1974 when i was 12 years old. For six months I was haunted by this film. I've seen it several times over the years and it never fails to disappoint. William Friedkin made the best horror film of all-time, and one of the best films of all-time, period. The acting is top drawer. Jason Miller gives a riveting performance as the young priest, matched in intensity and humanity by Ellen Burstyn. The supporting actors are all wonderful, led by Lee J. Cobb, Max von Sydow, Kitty Winn, and of course, Linda Blair. This is the ultimate film study of good vs. evil. The graphic and shocking images will be with me forever.
Rating: Summary: The greatest horror film of all time. Review: No horror film before or since has packed as powerful a punch as The Exorcist. The acting, direction and special effects are as startling today as they were in 1973. This film is more than just scary--it's disturbing. Do not watch it alone!
Rating: Summary: Classic horror film still ahead of it's time. Review: Why can't the horror film makers of today learn from film makers of the past.Almost all of us can agree on the fact that what scares us most is things that are perceived to be a possible scenerio in our own lives.Take The Exorcist, for example, where we have a charming 12 year old girl being raised by a single mother who becomes possesed by satanic forces.Pehaps the possibilities of becoming inundated by spirits is hardly a realistic occurence in most of our lives, but the setting in which this horrible event takes place, the home, is perhaps what sets this story up to be so horrifying. An evil presence in the safety of our homes is what we all fear, ultimately.Director Freidkin brings it all home with claustaphobic grittiness that builds and builds all the way to the dismal end.Nevermind all the jokes that are stemmed from the pea soup vomit, and 360 degree head rotation.Just turn off the lights, grab a bible to hold on to and renew your faith as you hide your way through this great film.
Rating: Summary: I loved the movie it was very scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The Exorist is a very bone chilling movie I had a hard time sitting it one place I was so scared I had nightmares for 2 weeks. I don't think I will ever get over how good that movie was.
Rating: Summary: MY FAVORITE FILM OF ALL TIME Review: I have been obsessed with "The Exorcist" since I found it on my 8th grade English teacher's desk. It was the year the book was published and the teacher's at school were passing it around. I was immediately curious of the book's cover and have followed it through the filming and the movie's release. My father, who bought the book for me, took me to see the movie at the age of 15. I had already read the book 3 times before the movie's release and this film still shocks me to this day. It is absolutely, by far, the most compelling and realistic movie of our time. The fact that it was made in the early 70's without computers is even more amazing.
Rating: Summary: The Exorcist Review: This film is one of the greatest ever made. It ranks only to Psycho in terms of how terrifying it is. I saw it at a midnight showing in the UK, where it is banned on video. END
Rating: Summary: Not for the weak of stomach Review: It's been almost 15 years since I last saw The Exorcist and my overriding memory was that I slept with all the lights on for four days. This adaptation of William Peter Blatty's novel is nothing short of stunning and shows that multiu-million dollar special effects are still no match for old fashioned storytelling. There are no computer-generated special effects here, although at the time of it's release the movie proved to be a real special effectds event. Put simply there's no equal and posssible never will be for this movie. It's sharp, forboding and builds an amazing sense of fear within the viewer as the story of a little girl's possession by an evil sprit is played out over roughly 80 or 90 minutes. If you only ever watch one horror movie in your life make it this one - the rest are limp by comparison... END
Rating: Summary: This book is frightening and wonderful Review: I have read The Exorcist too many times to count, and it scares and wows me everytime. I recommend it to anyone who not only wants a good fright but also wants a good piece of writing. END
Rating: Summary: The Exorstist, book & Film. Excellent!! Review: I first read the book "The Exorcist", when I was about 14. It didn't make alot of sense then, but the next time around - wow! Scary book. The film is banned here in UK, I've only seen it once, when it was released at selected cinemas, for the 20th anneversary. I can't wait for this 25th year release!! END
