Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: The Exorcist has to be one of or thee scaryist movie ever made. This movie will have you tossing and turning all night and just waiting for the bed to start shaking and waiting and listening for your voice to start talking demonic. I wouldn't recomend this movie for the light-hearted kind of person. It will scare the jeepers out of you. And don't tell me this is just another horror film. But I can see why people can watch this movie and laugh and not be scared. This is because they take the wrong approach to this movie. This is not a movie where you want to be in a good mood. Because you will just cackle the whole way through it. But if you take the other approach you better watch out. From the beginning to the end you are gripping the arms of the chair and feeling your palms sweat. And once the demon takes over Reagan, your thinking to your-self, "Don't go in that room"!
Rating: Summary: A Classic Horror Review: Despite 20 years ago, this film is still my favorite scary movie. The climax is good, but the story is sometimes long and too boring. Also, all of the characters are good, especially Blaire. In my opinion, it is the good model of other scary movies of 90s.
Rating: Summary: Shocking.Horrific! One of the best films ever! Review: I saw this movie at a very young age.It was the t.v verson.I have seen it probably 20 or 30 times. It is a movie that needs to be brought back to the big screen. The f/x and the story were way ahead of it's time when the movie came out.It is a movie that will leave an impression on your life one way or another. It can still stand on it's own today.A movie that everyone needs to see at least once in there life....
Rating: Summary: Why do people find this frightening? Review: I must admit that I was intimidated by this film's reputation and walking in to the cinema I was actually nervous. "The Excorcist" came up on the screen in gothic blood red letters and I was frightened. When the film started I was so laughably disappointed that I felt I wasted my money. The whole film is spent thinking...........is this going to be the scary part, is this going to be the scary part etc. In several parts of this film I found myself in tears laughing, especially whenthe kid is doing some sit-ups on the bed even Big Arnie would be proud of. Inbetween fits of laughter I found time to snigger at the hilariously outdated special effects and the acting...........enough said on that part. After being genuinely frightened by variuos other horror films I found this supposed scariest film ever a total f*** up.

Rating: Summary: Reconsideration after watching The Exorcist-Special Edition Review: I must admit, I have previously seen the Exorcist and I had long considered it to be an exploitation movie. I had beleived that the movie only sought to "gross-out" the audience for a fast buck. However, after watching this version on the DVD format, I have reconsidered this notion wholeheartedly. Perhaps the best parts of this DVD version are the documentary about the movie, as well as audio track commentaries by Director Friedkin and Author Blatty. I had learned that Blatty's novel was based upon an actual 1949 event through the documentary. The audio track commentaries also put the entire movie into its proper perspective; the ability of faith to triumph over evil. While this film has always been criticized and condemned as anti-God and pro-Satan, nothing could be further from the truth. The movie is actually a profound statement in support of faith in God and the ability of love and honor to overcome the powers of darkness. Good and evil are two sides of a coin. If a demonic possession actually occurred in 1949 (as described in the DVD documentary), then this would indeed be evidence that Satan does exist. Ergo, if Satan exists then so does God. This is some pretty powerful stuff, particularly to non-beleivers, atheists, or agnostics. While many have seen the movie the Exorcist before in one capacity or another, this new DVD's true gems are the special features which really do explain the film and put it into its proper perspective. I confess: when I first saw the Exorcist I primarily thought it to be just another "gross-out" movie, and I just "didn't get it." After viewing these special features on the 25th Anniversary DVD version, my mind was changed...
Rating: Summary: Horrific Review: All I can say about this movie is that it is the most horrific film I've ever seen. It is not a slasher movie, and it is not a thriller either. This movie gives you a sense a fear on a religious basis, regardless of whatever religion you are. To be perfectly honest, I would have rated this movie NC-17, not R, because anyone under 17 would probably be drastically affected by this. If you have only ever seen the edited version for TV, then I can garuntee you it is a very different experience from the unedited version.
Rating: Summary: The Exorcist: Intrigue and Macabre Review: An excellent horror film! Not only does the visual effects and graphics shock you, but the script is well-written and thought provoking. Children have always been a sign of innocence, goodness. Well, this movie rips off that face and shows the demon within. Can a mother save her child from the evil forces abound in an ivy-covered house in Georgetown? The climactic scene will make the breath catch in your throat as the exorcism ritual takes place. Stunning, excellent, though may not be suitable for children for use of vulgar language, graphic images, and a scene where the child-demon masturbates with a crucifix.
Rating: Summary: beautifull Review: the exorcist is the best horror film ever made. one of the best book adapted to movie story ever. great performances by ellen burstyn, linda blair and practically all the rest of the cast.
