Rating: Summary: TERRIFYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: Well, you can't get much better than this! It beats all the modern horror films by miles! And to think, this was a time when computers were not used to aid special effects in films! Excellent acting from all the charactes, but most convincing was Reagen.Excellent job Billy!
Rating: Summary: The scariest and most well-made horror film ever! Review: Part supernatural horror (little twelve year old girl is possessed by evil demon), part religious drama (a troubled priest is made to deal with the pressures of death, doubt and the question of whether he is losing faith or not while trying to provide evidence that the victim has been possessed: an elderly priest with bad health and experience in performing exorcism; both risking everything to drive out the demon), and part mystery (a local detective who is trying to solve the murder of a hollywood director through his involvement with the girl's mother and a mysterious witchcraft style desecration in the local Jesuit church). Now you have the ingredients to the most disturbing, but well developed film of all time. The Exorcist is a rather off beat film for oscar winning director William Friedkin (The French Connection), but thanks to him and an oscar winning screenplay, written by William Peter Blatty, who also wrote the book, unforgettable performances from Ellen Burstyn, Max Von Sydow, Jason Miller, and especially, Linda Blair, and some of the most graphic makeup effects ever caught on film, we have what is probably one of the most well made films of the '70's.
Rating: Summary: A skocking masterpiece.....THE mother of all horror films Review: Forget The Omen or Rosemary's Baby. Forget anything made by Hitchcock or Carpenter. This brilliantly written, acted and directed film is one of the most powerful and skcoking movies ever made. And it is the only horror film with a dramatic and religious impact. This film, reportedly based on true events, changed the way horror films were made, and anyone who brags of seeing it all that hasn't seen this should think again, but if you have a weak stomach.....
Rating: Summary: Very haunting, see it ASAP!! Review: 1973's "The Exorcist" is one of the best movies I've ever viewed. I read the book, and the movie does a beautiful justice to it. However, I must say that the most haunting character to me wasn't little Regan, but Father Karras. Jason Miller puts in an excellent performance as the troubled Jesuit priest. Also, if you get the chance, read the sequel by Blatty, "Legion". I think "The Exorcist III" was based upon it, and it a very good follow-up to the original book. Excellent acting all around, smashing special effects and stunts, and a terrifying storyline make this a must for any film buff. P.S. Look for the superimposed images on Regan's face during the exorcism.
Rating: Summary: The perfect horror movie! Review: I saw the movie today and wov....I was blown away. to think that this movie was actually shot in 1973 and the vile language that is used in it is very surprising. The scene were she stabs herself in her privates with the cross is just vile beyond comprehension. I am not a believer in God or anything like that. Yet, whilst watching the movie I was defenetly wishing that some devine power would intervene.
Rating: Summary: It is the movie of the century!!! Review: This movie is creepy to the bones and will keep you on the edge of your seat! The Exorcist is with out a shadow of a doubt the best movie of the century, not only because it is terrifyng but because it is a classic, it's not every so often we have movies like the Exorcist. If you haven't seen it then you better see it!!
Rating: Summary: Oh my GOD! Review: This is one of the scariest movies i have ever ever seen, and i have never gotton over it....please someone help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Possibly the most frightening film ever made. Review: This movie takes you on a psychological journey wrought with disturbing images. Not like the gore from a Romero film or those imfamous teen slasher movies of the eighties, Exorcist stakes it's frightening images on the mind with room for imagination; making it all the scarier when a viewer adds his/her own fears to the scenario.
Rating: Summary: All the raves are true Review: All the raves I heard and read, the warnings not to watch this movie in my childhood. All true. I finally watched the movie, and I think I can understand the controversy and hysteria surrounding its 1973 release. Why can't they make horror movies like this any more? You simply can't compare it with current horror movies. They rely on gore and special effects instead of careful character building and subtlety, all demonstrated most excellently in this movie. For example, the scene where Father Merrin almost got hit by a passing horse-cart. There is no place for such scene in current horror movies. And the pace: some people would call the first part of the movie turgid. I call it 'patient'. It painstakingly built a solid base on which the final climactic scene comfortably resides. Were I not a believer, I'd definitely give faith a longer look after watching this movie. Oh, I could go on for hours but the bottom line: watch this one.
Rating: Summary: the single scariest, most awesome movie ever ever EVER Review: Holy God does is The Exorcist good. If ever there was a perfect movie, this is it.
