Review: Alright, it's hard to give this film 5 stars for being a great film (in that I liked it, because I did not), but it is easy to give the film 5 stars because it was so well made. I can never support this film because in many ways it was blasphemous and offensive; I'm an Italian Catholic and not at all in support of images of the defiling of statues inside of a church or a girl violating herself with a crucifix.
However, this film scared me like no other since (perhaps with the exception of "The Ring"); I remember watching two-thirds of it in my high school screenplay class and walking out because it bothered me so much. However, I finished the movie about six months later for a little closure. Yeah, it was that scary. There are a few misconceptions about the movie, the most notable being that many claim little Regan was possessed by the devil. She was not possessed by the devil, but rather by a demon lord called Pazuzu (this was explained in the film, for crying out loud). I'm no demon expert, nor have I read the book of Enoch, but I've heard it's supposed to be a lord of the upper planes of hell or something like that. Anyways...
In recap, I'm not one to ever discount a well-made movie, but whether or not you have faith be forewarned that this is a disturbing movie and will scare the $#*! out of you. Judging from this, it's hard to tell whether or not this movie should have been made...

Summary: An amazing epic battle between good and evil.
Review: The Exorcist- The Scariest Movie Of All Time. Everything people say about this movie is all true. It's terrifying, dramatic, compelling, edge of your seat entertainment. You have not seen terror if you have not seen this. Don't let the date it was made scare you off, this film is still amazing even today. It is the most gripping film ever, a major roller coaster ride of a movie that once you get on, there's no getting off.

This movie brings out emotions inside you that have never been used. The horror of seeing an innocent little girl becoming a vicious demon is just priceless. It doesn't rely on cheap scares like people with masks jumping out of closets or anything like that. When watching it, you feel your whole life revolving around the movie, swirling uncontrollably. The whole movie has a dense sense of pure evil to it, the kind that makes you want to leave your skin at the seat. Even with the huge feeling you get to turn to movie off at extremely intense parts is overcome by your passion to keep your eyes glued to the screen, trying not even to blink.

These are the feelings I got while watching, and I'm guessing most every human would experience them too. Now onto the DVD review: The extras are a little disappointing, but the movie itself with great picture quality that makes evil jump from the screen and sound that makes you fear for your life is worth the price alone. All trailers are good while I'm a little upset that there is no "Making Of." All else is fine, packaging, commentary, and other special features worth checking out. However, I felt the ending was a little too extended, but don't let that stop you.

Don't consider yourself a brave person until you have seen The Exorcist. It is the king of horror movies and shouldn't be missed by anyone. See this...you won't be sorry you took the time you did.

Review: this is better than the original. even though people say its not scary this movie still scares ... me!!! i saw it in the theaters like 2 years ago i went home with chills. for religious people please dont see this. i thought the spider wlak was great. this is with out a doubt the best horror movie!

Summary: Too scary to be enjoyable
Review: "The Exorcist" scared me so mucht that it was hard to sleep at night. The movie was too scary to be enjoyable. It is fun to watch movies that are scary, but have some comical or entertaining moments. This movie was just plain horrific violence. What was the point of this film? To prove that devils can get inside peoples' bodies and turn them into evil, dispicable, deplorable, and gory half human half demon beings? I'm a Catholic, and I have read in the Bible that this has happened. But, what is the point of watching this movie, just to make you sleepless at night and worrying if the devil will enter your body? I didn't watch the whole film. Maybe there was something in there that explained more detail about it. If so, then I apologize for being so critical of the movie. But if not, I say stick with films that are scary, but still have meaning, like "Cape Fear" or "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" or "Misery". Or, if you're a horror fan, stick with "The Shining".

Review: for some reason they can't make a movie scarier than this one. the make up job on her face was the best i ever saw.i own this one on dvd and let me tell you that the detail is awsome.for a 1973 movie they did some hell of a job.

Summary: Good Christian heed my warning, this film will eat at you...
Review: Why? It fulfills its goal as providing perhaps the most dreadful film of all time (emphasis on the word dreadful). There are no salvageable or redeeming qualities about this film. All you will feel is utter dread, completely and in the most certain of ways. In that way, the film accomplishes its duty, providing, without question, one of the most hellish feelings in movie history. God's men do not prove more powerful in this tale and the film depicts the awesome idea of the sheer magnitude and might that the devil has at his disposure.

We see a gentle child, a girl no less, being possessed by sheer evil. Take note, this is not just a murderous type of evil; it is a combination of evils: perversion, anti-God vulgarities, and so on. When you are done with this film, you will question your own faith and decide if you yourself are suitable to take on such a monsterous force like a demon - even if you are a good Christian.

Proceed with extreme caution, this film will provoke you to dread and make you question your faith and your own view on the spiritual world. It gets an A+ for invoking those fears.

Summary: I cried in horror
Review: I admit one thing. I have never seen everything of the Exorcist. I just cannot stand it. January 2001, I bought it on DVD, and sat down a dark winternight to watch it. Alone. I never thought it was that bad. When Regan`s face turned from a girl to the deformed, white-eyed gruesome being, I was afraid down to my bone. It is the worst(not qualitywise) thing I have ever seen, I had to take away the movie and turn off the TV. It took me 6 months just to get her face of my head, and it only prooves one point, The Exorcist is really the scariest movie off all time.

I later got my buddies to watch it, and I held my hands infront of my eyes in the worst scenes, so that I never would see her face again.

This is pure horror in its rawest form. Its the essence of what fear is made of, your own child being abused to the highest degree, and turned into a monster you cannot watch.

When I say that the Exorcist is the worst movie I have seen, I dont mean that it is a bad movie. It is the perfect horrormovie, but it isnt really a movie either, it is more like the perfect documentary and godfather of all that is evil. And when Regan stare at you with her white eyes, you will feel your whole sanity and life be shaken to the ground, from which it for someone...may never be restored. Such was the fact for me, yet I feel in a way scarred for life, but also glad to know that Horror movies will never die as long as The Exorcist is there.

I was 20 when I first watched it, back then in January, 2001. I have seen many horrormovies, and I am a big fan of the Genre. But nothing have ever made me cry of pure fear like that night I watched The Exorcist, and that alone makes it the perfect movie ever.

Quick note about the film. The Actors play incredible. They all bring this movie to such an reality that has to be seen to believe. The acting are superb, the sounds, the filming, everything is dead on. There is not a single bad point with this movie. For those who are interested in religion, it is certainly interesting, and for those who love the paranormal, it is too(I am an atheist, but I study the paranormal). It can be discussed wether or not this film is about God vs Satan, but no matter how you look at it, it is also about the nightmare every parents go thru when their child is kidnapped/abducted/abused. About how a safe home can turn into hell. How a little cute girl can turn into a demon. One could write pages up and pages down about this movie, but I really think words dont justify it.

Some people may laugh...but dont ever dare make fun of this movie. It isnt ment to be funny at all, in fact you will not find ONE moment, one SECOND in this film where they tried to be funny. If you find this movie funny, then you better pray someone will exorcise your demons, because there IS NOTHING FUNNY about it!

There, I said it. Sick of young kids and tough teens who blame this film for being stupid and funny.

The Exorcist is the greatest horrorfilm ever, and possibly one of the greatest FILMS ever too.

Review: This is the scariest movie I've seen so far. Yes it is even scarier than Psycho, Halloween, and The Shining. This is based on a true story, so there is definately nothing scarier than real life. I fully agree with Robert Larson in the fact that this is THE SCARIEST MOVIE EVER MADE! This film also is very disturbing, and has great plot, great acting, great story, and bone chilling music. This is the bench mark on which all other horror movies are scored. This will probably never be topped. Not even The Ring could top this. This is definately the scariest movie I've seen, but in order for this film to scare you, you have to take it seriously. Watch this one alone in the dark for the ultimate experience. THE EXORCIST IS THE SCARIEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!! IT'S NOT AN OPPINION, IT'S A FACT.

Review: Man, Man, I remember many things about the Exorcist back in the day and it would take me longer than this website to write them all down.

Some facts - this film was written and produced by William Peter Blatty, based upon his best-selling book and directed by William Freidkin, who would leter direct the Academy Award Winning The French Connection. This film stars Ellen Burstyn, who plays Chris McNeil, a role originally offered to Jane Fonda. Linda Blair as Regan, the possessed 12 year old girl. Kitty Winn as Sharon, Regans' nanny. Max Von Sydow as Father Lancaster Merrin, the priest who saves Regan from the devil. Jason Miller as Father Karras, the troubled priest who assists Father Merrin. Lee J. Cobb as Kinderman, a cop, a role originally offered to Paul Newman. And, Jack McGowran, as film director Burke Dennings, Chris' boyfriend.

THE EXORCIST was released theatrically on December 26, 1973 and was widely acclaimed but also widely criticized. A film, so potent back then, that drove crowds outside theatres for hours and theatre ushers actually provided barf bags to their patrons. People actually did get sick after watching the film. Paople would be driven to drink after watching this film. This film was widely criticized by religious groups, which was widely ignored. This film was also widely acclaimed by film goers and film critics, alike. Also, this film spawned any imitations on film, television etc., and was the butt of jokes and unleashed two very bad sequels.

This film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards in 1974, including Best Picture but only walked away with Best Adapted Screenplay by William Peter Blatty and Best Sound. That was a downer as I felt this film deserved more and better Awards.

The film story is basicaslly simple - a 12 year old girl, mysteriously, becomes possessed by the devil and a priest is sent in to drive out the evil spirit and save the girl.

I have always loved watching THE EXORCIST and to my surprise in 2000, THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN was released theatrically in September of that year, with 11 minutes of extra footage and I was quite impressed after watching this film.

The film begins differently with footage of the McNeil house and a church statue, the first piece of unseen footage. Then, we are taken to Northern Iraq, where Father Lancaster Merrin is on a foreign mission, which is a ten minute sequence. Then, we are taken to Georgetown, the McNiel home as the story and possession develops around Linda Blair.

The second piece of unseen footage involves a first medical examination of Linda Blair which is a five minute sequence showing first signs of her possession. The most notable piece of unseen footage and always talked about was the "spiderwalk", when Regan in acrobatic form runs down the stairs like a spider with blood gushing out of her mouth. The other pieces of unseen footage were more extended dialogue pieces that made more sense to the film. Lastly, the ending is much different as Kinderman and Father Dier walk on the street past the vacant McNiel house, an ending that was much better than the always seeen one, which was always considered a downer.

I really enjoyed THE EXORCIST - THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN very much. Let it be known that this is William Peter Blatty's version of all the footage he wanted to put back into the film. William Freidkin, the director, back then felt that all the additional scenes were all unnecessary to which I disagree with, after watching this film. I am veryglad that the "Williams", made the right move by releasing this film, again, to the masses.

This DVD is a little different than the 25th ANNIVERSARY EDITION, that was released in 1998. THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN has all the interactive Menus and such, presented in Digitial 5.1 Sound and picture quality that is crisp and clear. ALso, there are 2 theatrical trailers, 4 TV Spots and 2 Radio Spots, and Commentary by director, William Freidkin. THE VERSION YOU'VE NEVER SEEN has less Special Features than the 25th ANNIVERSARY EDITION but this is the DVD that has the extra footage.

I would definitely recommend this DVD to anyone who are fans of the genre and films of the Golden Age. This film will leave you possessed.

Summary: Same Old, Same Old
Review: I was surprised when Warner Bros. actually re-released this movie. I 'd already seen it, but thought I would see it again to find out what was so different. Big deal, there we're a few different scenes in the movie that the original did not have. This should tell you how outdated this movie is-when I saw it in the theater, There we're only two other people In there with me. In my opinion, Warner Bros. should have thought twice before re-releasing this one, cause It obviously didn't make any money, the second time around. If you have never seen this movie, it will probably scare you. If you have seen this movie already, don't bother seeing it again.
