Summary: Scary, But Very Good!
Review: I Saw this when I was a child and it was very good and very scary, there were some things in it that really creeped me out, especially the maggots on the steak, the guy appearing like he was clawing his eyes out (I always have to close my eyes or leave the room during that scene) also scary was when the boy was attacked by a tree outside his window and also the part when he was attacked by his clown doll and dragged under the bed really scared me because when I was real little I was afraid of monsters under the bed when some friends of mine who were older than me made up a game where they pretended monsters were under my bed and if you weren't careful the monsters would grab your feet and pull you under the bed, it was just make believe but it was still kind of scary for a little one, and after seeing Poltergeist I remember for a while being scared of a relative's clown doll that looked like the one in the movie, when I visited them I stayed in that room and at night I had to cover the clown doll so I didn't have to look at it, besides that I did like the movie even though I was spooked for a week or two. I highly recommend the movie but just be careful that some children may get frightened by some of the intensely scary scenes!

Summary: True Terror
Review: Many movies please your sense of horror with characters getting graphically sliced to ribbons with knives and chainsaws, but Poltergeist was different. While it had action, adventure, and special affects far ahead of it's time including a stange giant spider like creature with a long neck guarding the bedroom door made out of mist, it dove into psycological terror. What happens when you die? What if you are not ready to move on? Although the strange events start out as harmless and almost comical, including a pyramid of chairs while the camera was only turned for seconds, they soon escalte to deadly preportion like a giant tree outside waiting to eat small children. The visuals are incredible (although, due to flashing lights, it is not recomened to watch this movie in the dark)and the costumes, make-up, and props were all fantastic. Humor (although sometimes very dark) is present throughout the entire move, which, to me, is the perfect mix. Humor and Horror. One of the scariest movies you have ever seen, and take it from me. It was the first movie that actually made me terrified of my bedroom. (indeed, I have a clown that closly resembles the terrifying clown on the chair...) A great movie, none the less, you will be so pleased at yourself to have bought it.

Summary: great film to scare the bejesus out of your loved ones
Review: I like this film because it's so scary! that you will end up on a stretcher to be taken to the hospital. I like Heather O Roark's roll as the child Carol Anne. The music by Jerry Goldsmith is as haunting as the film. I don't intend to give the plot away. To other horror movie fans of the future. I hope this review inspires others to buy this film. They'll love being scared. The reason why is because it's the great film to scare the bejesus out of your loved ones.

Summary: So incredibly well made it's "scary".
Review: I'm not really into horror movies, but Poltergeist is in a class by itself. Yea, it's a horror flick, however it's also hysterically funny in parts, and very moving in others. Poltergeist was released about the same time as ET, and I think the phenomenal success of that film took away a lot of much-deserved attention and praise for Poltergeist. This is a brilliant film. A great story, stunning special effects and fine performances by all of the actors. Most notably JoBeth Williams as the loving and caring mother. It's amazing to me that she was not nominated for an Oscar or Golden Globe. Her performance is riveting, and she is pivotal in making an incredible story believable.

If you want to have a really enjoyable time being scared, don't miss seeing Poltergeist. Even the term "Modern Day Horror Classic" doesn't do it justice.

Summary: This movie will give you chills
Review: This is probably the best horror movie ever made in history that I can tolerate. The whole story makes sense and its real the acting is classic and it deals with real life whats good about it is that it deals with a average suburban family living in a newly developed neighborhood and all this crazy stuff happens to them. This was a good year for Stephen Spielberg movies two all time classics were released that year E.T about a childhood fantasy and Poltergiest about a childhood nightmare. What also makes Poltergiest funny is the human interaction in it with your everyday arguements your annoying next door neighbor and the film shows all of that lightheartedness but also that deep horror. Now there something about this movie usually I look at movies like Freddy Kruger movies and think that they are just the stupitest thing but Poltergiest literally gives me chills the whole movie is eary. It may also have something to do with the teenage girl in this movie who was strangled to death by her boyfriend shortly after this movie was released. The music also has a eary touch to it. The scariest part maybe the ghosts spirits coming down the stairs with the music and everything the whole movie is a classic.

Summary: Possibly the scariest film ever made
Review: As you may or may not know from my other reviews, I love films, pure and simple. Regardless of the subject matter, a good film is a good film. This happens to be a great film in the horror genre. It still astounds me that this film is PG, because if this film was released today, I am sure it would be hard R or NC-17 for intensity. If the MPAA can grill Wes Craven for making Scream too intense, this film will redefine the word for you. This film, I feel might just be the scariest film of all time. There are alot of great horror films out there and a lot of crap, but this film dares to get under your skin in the ways Something Wicked This Way Comes does or The Watcher in the Woods. The mood regresses you into a child state and a child's point of view towards horror and subconsiously we are forced to relive our own nightmares while viewing this film. It begins unforgetably and epicly with the Star Spangled Banner and contines bit after bit building suspense and humanity within the characters and us that by the time the film erupts in a frenzy of terror, we are drained and tired and scared to the bone. Closets devour children so do trees. Clowns attack and drag you under the bed. In the bathroom at night, a feeling comes over you and you feel the need to rip your face off. Demons jumping out of the closet, fathers being told to threaten to hit their children, maggots, dwarf women, etc--image after image is so frightening and yet clouded in a suburben neighborhood trying to lend credence that this is normal. At night in the dark, this film starts strobing on the walls with the flickering tv and puts one in a mood that makes you realize how tame so many of todays horror films are. This film was PG, so was Gremlins and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom--all were oversaw by Spielberg and all were reasons the PG 13 now exists, though by today's standards these films would be R if not NC-17. What terrible times we live in.

Summary: Decent Flick
Review: But not as good as the first one. Explains more about why the house in Questa Verde' was haunted. Adds a bit more to the storyline, but I think they were kinda reaching for straws here. The best thing about this movie is the special effects designed bu H.R. Geiger.

Summary: poltergeist
Review: This is a really good movie. It is a horror/suspense. In the movie the "Poltergeist" is a force thing that can move things and slam doors, rattle chains etc. The people in the movie who built the families house built it ontop of a grave yard. They said that they removed the graves and stuff but all they did is move the head stones. This is why the Poltergeist is bothering the family. You can also apparently hear the Poltergeist threw a telivision on the "fuzz" stations. It is also said to be the gate way to another demension. I really recomend this movie to all of you.

Summary: One of Spielberg's best!
Review: This is a great movie all around from it's opening scene to its thrilling climax. This movie has some really great moments and has brilliant special effects.I can't believe this movie lost the visual effects oscar to E.T. even though that film also had good special effects.I highly reccomend this film and if you are planning to watch it for the first time watch it late at night, that really amplifies the scares. My only problem with this film is that it is to scary for younger viewers.

Summary: A roller-coaster ride of a horror film!
Review: "Poltergeist" came out the same year as Steven Spielberg's "E.T.", which is amazing and kind of a plus. Both films tap into the horrors and fantasies that children have. And both take place in a safe, sunny suburbian town. 1982 was, I think, an exciting year for Spielberg. Anyway, on to this movie. It's a scary roller-coaster ride. The ending leaves you feeling the same way you did with "Aliens": drained and exhilarated. If there's any horror/scary movie that deals with children being possessed, taken away from their parents, or caught with some supernatural spirit, I'm in on it. There's nothing scarier than that concept which I just mentioned. Recently, the AFI ranked this movie No. 84 on their list of the 100 most heart-pounding movies. You can't go wrong with this movie. It's one of the most entertaining horror films ever, and one of the scariest.
