Rating: Summary: Recommended Review: This is an original, intelligent, and effective ghost story. I don't think they knew how to end it, though. As a result, the last half hour or so is awkward, choppy, directionless, and drawn out.Several years ago, I saw the play version of "The Woman in Black" in London. Good as the movie is, it cannot compare to the truly outstanding stage rendition.
Rating: Summary: I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY MEANT BY SPINE CHILLING, Review: until one christmas eve 9 or 10 years ago I found myself watching this, far and away the spookiest film I have ever seen. If Jan DeBonts "The Haunting" or "Friday the 13th" are your idea of terrifying then avoid this subtle ghost story. Only "Psycho" "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" "The Exorcist" and "Halloween" are in its league.
Rating: Summary: Not bad, but not great Review: After reading all the amazon reviews on this movie, I couldn't wait to see it (being a movie buff). While it is good, I don't understand all the "scariest movie I've ever seen" reviews. It builds nicely with some spooky sequences, but I never really felt like the film hit it's stride. If you like this genre try The Haunting (original), The Wicker Man, or maybe The Asphyx. Again, not a bad movie, but don't go in expecting as much as some of the reviews indicate. IMHO.
Rating: Summary: An Old-Fashioned Spooky Ghost Story Review: If you are looking for a blood-and-guts slasher horror movie, go elsewhere. This is an old-fashioned ghost story. The suspense and dread build slowly toward a shocking and intense finale. The image of the Woman in Black standing on the marshes in broad daylight is certainly more frightening than a ridiculous hockey-mask monster chasing a nubile, stupid co-ed.
Rating: Summary: WAAAHHHHH Review: when I started watching that I thought, oh, yawn, this is really a bit VERY Victorian but when the ghost first showed her face I felt my hair bristle, and when she puts on her BIG appearance I got so frightened I held my breath and clutched the blankets and just hoped she wouldn't come out of the TV set. WAAAHHHH! This is a very, very good movie and all directors who rely on blood and gore and special effects should be sentenced to watch it at least a dozen times.
Rating: Summary: Woman in Black Review: I love scary and suspenseful movies. This one scared me because the ghost was so hateful, and she appeared in unusual places. I was interested to see Pauline Moran (the ghost) play an evil character. I'm so used to seeing her play the sweet Miss Lemon Poirot's secretary in the PBS series.
Rating: Summary: Sorry,,, but it's the worst horror movie i have seen Review: i saw the movie... and it is not scared at all... if you wanna talk about scared movie for ghost you can watch "Evil Dead" for example. Sorry but i fell that i have wasted my time by watching "The woman in black"
Rating: Summary: The mother of ghost movies! scarey from start to finish! Review: this is how a ghost movie should be made, it didnt take me long to realise that this was going to be real scary, i first saw it on tv alone in the dark never again! . A very scary ghost movie the best ever made, but why aint it available in the u.k anymore? thats what gets me!
Rating: Summary: A creepy, yet effective movie! Review: "The Woman In Black" is a very entertaining, chilling movie. It's not your average slasher movie, and rather than tons of gore and blood, we get genuine chills. What's really scarrier? Seeing someone being beheaded in a movie, or waking up at 2:00 am, and seeing a dark shape standing a few feet away from your bed? This movie plays upon real chills, not fake ones. I guess, though, I would really have to give it 4 and 1/2 stars, though, because some of it is just a tad bit hard to follow. (Just some of it!) But still, instead of blood n' guts, the viewer gets thrills and chills! A must-see. Check it out sometime! I really enjoyed it, and it had an ending to die for...
Rating: Summary: Scariest movie I have ever seen! Review: What a movie! I first saw this several years ago on television and was immediately impressed with it. There are still parts of it that I haven't seen because I knew that I would never be able to get to sleep that night, and in spite of my efforts, pillow over my head, changing channels (thank God for the remote), I still couldn't. The hatred in her face, the Woman in Black's, will, send chills through you. Enjoy.
