Summary: Gothika is a must see!
Review: I saw this movie with a friend of mine, and throughout the whole screening, we were screaming our heads off. We walked out of the movie theatre shivering and giggling at the same time. Gothika was an awesome movie which keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Its very interesting to see how the whole plot unravels and what Halle Berry will do to survive. Personally, I cant wait for the movie to come out on DVD so that I can watch this again. My firned and I have labeled this as the best scary movie ever.

Summary: "Gothika" promises chills, but it's all tame spills!
Review: Halle Berry plays Dr. Miranda Grey, a brilliant doctor in a mental institution who wakes up one morning as a patient in her own hospital and begins to be visited by a female ghost in most "horrifying," as the studio would lead you to believe, ways. I'll ignore the fact that the hospital's lights are always blinking and much of the equipment resembles a 1500s torture machine. But I refuse to ignore the blatant disregard for non-cheap thrills, quality acting, and screenplay (This "script" has more plot holes than 200 STAR TREK episodes). At the end of the day, it's somewhat entertaining, but obvious and easy to forget.

Summary: SCARY AS HELL!!!!!!!!!
Review: HALLE BERRY GIVES A STUNNING PERFORMANCE IN THIS MOVIE WHICH I BELIEVE IS ONE OF HER BEST ROLES EVER. I DON'T THINK I'VE BEEN THIS SCARED BY A MOVIE SINCE THE EXORCIST OR MAYBE WITCHBOARD. TALK ABOUT POWERFUL! I HAD NO IDEA THERE WOULD BE SO MUCH OF THE SUPERNATURAL IN IT BUT IT WAS GREAT. IT KIND OF REMINDS ME OF "THE RING" STARRING NAOMI WATTS. THE MOVIE HAS A VERY SIMILAR THEME TO IT. I DON'T WANT TO GIVE TOO MUCH AWAY BUT IF YOU LIKE TO HAVE THE CRAP SCARED OUT OF YOU THIS ONE IS FOR YOU! I WAS PRACTICALLY ON TOP OF MY HUSBAND AND INSIDE HIS COAT DURING THIS ONE. DAMN IT'S CREEPY!!!!!!!!

Summary: Not for those with pace-makers
Review: The suspenseful and heart-stopping Gothika is not for those with a weak stomach or with chronic heart problems. Mix in a little Halle Berry finesse with some asylum nuts and a ghost on fire and you have a great date movie. Gothika will make you jump, maybe scream, but it will surely have you cheering for Berry during her trials and tribulations. A thrilling ride through the world of crazies in a nut house; Gothika is scary enough to quench the thirst of those horror film fanatics and also give you a little intelect for your buck. This movie is worth watching until you go blind. I highly recomend it.

Summary: possibly the scariest movie i've seen - i plan on buying it
Review: I was thrilled with this spectacular and intellectual horror film. The scary scenes are along the same lines as those in "The Sixth Sense" but much scarier than any that are in that movie. Halle Berry gives an excellent performance. This is a smart scary movie which is hard to come by. It has many twists and although I predicted the outcome right at the end, I was still very satisfied and wouldn't mind watching this film again and again. It scared me and I'm a tough one to frighten.

Summary: Big Problems, But Well Done!
Review: The story is "Gothika" is just silly. I know that movies are not real life, but the story in this movie was just plain dumb. The best part about the movie were the preformances, which to tell to the truth saved the movie. Yes, the movie was scary. There was at least two parts in this movie that made me actually jump, but sometimes just a couple of jumps can not make a movie be good. I had those other critics that judge a movie because it is stupid and does not focus on story and just the power to scare people. But I really think that was what this movie did. I guessed the ending before it happened, and during the scene where we learn about the ending, it was made pretty clear what was about to happen. I only wish that mabye they could have made the ending a little more of a surprise.

Halle Barry was the star of "Gothika." In it she works at a prison for women. She is currently working to help Chloe who murdered her stepfather, and claims that she was raped by The Devil. One night she says goodbye to her husband/boss Doug, and is walked to her car by co-worker Pete. On the way home she learns from Sherrif Bob that the road ahead of her is closed, and while taking a detour home by passing a bridge, she sees this young girl standing in the middle of the road. She gets out of the car, and the young girl goes on fire, and Miranda blanks out.

Three Days Later...

Miranda wakes up in the very prision that she works in. Only she is an inmate. She talks to Pete and finds out that she has been accused of brutally murdering Doug. She has no clue what happened after the problem on the bridge and nobody believes what happened including her now fellow inmate Chloe, because everybody thinks that she is crazy. Everything that she did to the people that she studied is no happening to her. Miranda is getting a taste of her own medicine. One night however she wakes up and finds a creepy message being written on the fog on the glass of her cell.

"NOT ALONE!"

Miranda gets scared, and when the girl from the bridge begins appearing in the prison cell and beating her up, Miranda knows that she must escape the prison cell and find out what is going on, only what she finds out she might never want to know because it affects her in two ways...on an emotional level and on a very very personal level.

"Gothika," was a scary movie, yes. But sometimes just being scared in a horror movie doesn't work out. You have to be interested. I hate horror movies where you know what is going to happen. That was the problem with "28 Days Later," it was veyr predictable. I really liked horror films this year like "Darkness Falls," because I never saw anything like that before. "Gothika," was very much like "Dreamcatcher." I only gave "Dreamcatcher," two stars but that also had a cheap storyline. I wish they would make more horror movies instead of focusing on being scared every three seconds. Horror movies can also have a great storyline, which is what "Gothika" doesn't have. I liekd it, but it could have been alot better than the final product was.

ENJOY!

Rated R for violence, brief language and nudity.

Summary: Great movie!!
Review: This movie is so well done. I loved this movie. You know when Hallie Berry is in a movie, you know that it has to be good. Remember, she is an Oscar-Winner, so she CAN act and is taken seriously as an actress. This movie is more Thiller, than hororr, but still, very good! A tad on the predictable, but a very good occult movie. I gave this movie four stars, because of it's predictablity. But, I have always been able to guess what was coming next with movies though, so maybe it won't be as predictable for you, as it was for me(which byt he way, was not much) I could barely guess what was coing next. This movie is fast pase, and never slows down for air. I could predict, I know I said that before, but just as a reminder. Hallie Berrie Fan? Then this movie, you'll love.Although, not sually her genre, she does a terrific job!!

Summary: Chilling!!!
Review: This intense chilling flick makes you think, can you really be crazy? It's a heart thumping, jump out of your set thriller. Halle gives a great prerformance, and Robert Downey Jr. not a bad comeback movie for him.Worth staying up for, you might be scared to.

Summary: Gothika- Yikes!
Review: Gothika, the new thriller from French actor/director Mattheiu Kassovitz entertains for the most part. It's stylish and sort of a "Sixth Sense" wannabe. Halle Berry delivers a fine performance as a psychologist, who has a good relationship with her husband (Charles S. Dutton, oddly cast). After a car accident and encounter with an estranged girl on a road, Berry becomes a patient in her own hospital. Berry is accused of murdering her husband. She has no recollection of the event, and her friend (Robert Downey, Jr.) is now her doctor trying to help her.
Gothika has its moments. It does deliver quite a few creepy scenes, ones which you might not expect in fact. Berry's performance is nicely done, giving the perfect touch to her character. The film which was panned by critics, performaned slightly above average at the box-office.
GOthika is rated R for Violence, Nudity and Brief Language.
The violence is fair, nothing especially graphic or gruesoming.
Not a bad pick.
