Rating: Summary: day of the dead dvd review Review: this was a terrible transfer to dvd of a decent little horror flick from george romero. the movie was rushed in transfer with much snow in the picture. keep your vhs copy until a better transfer is done.
Rating: Summary: breath taking/100% horror genius Review: mr. romero needs to follow-up on this horrific dream! make another. Please!!
Rating: Summary: BOREFEST!!! Review: This movie may have lots of gore, but I had already fallen asleep before it even got that far. Too much talk, and not enough scares makes this third installment of the dead series easily the worst of the lot. Stick with "DAWN" and "NIGHT", which truly do shock and keep your stomach churning.
Rating: Summary: The absolute best horror film of the eighties Review: I wasn't particularly huge fan of zombie films. I thought the idea of dead people coming back to life but walking slower than a slug was a bad idea until I watched George Romero's Living Dead series. Zombies may move slowly but there are so many of them that it's futile to try and outrun them. I've read reviews putting down Day of the Dead but I think this one is the best of the series, the best zombie film ever, and one of the best horror films ever made. This was definitely the most graphic and gory film of its time. The beginning is already quite grotesque. We see four people in a helicopter who are searching for any human beings. They stop in a city and the first thing they see is an empty street until a zombie missing half its face walks towards them. Then we see thousands of zombies pouring onto the streets. The rest of the movie takes place in a fourteen mile wide underground bunker. The world above the survivors have zombies outnumbering humans in a ratio of 400,000 to 1. What remains in the bunker are 7 soldiers, 3 scientists, a helicopter pilot, and a communications expert. All the soldiers except one want to get rid of the scientists who are trying to find ways to stop the zombie problem. The civilian team members are neutral but they tend to agree more with the scientists. All this leads to a suspensful gory conclusion which includes decapitation, eyelids being pulled back, fingers bitten off, throat rippings, a soldier being literally ripped in half, and zombies eating human flesh and guts.I've read numerous reviews putting this film down. People are entitled to their own opinion but they seem to blame Romero mostly. They say his script was convoluted and written in haste. In actuality, he had an original script that was even better than the shooting script. You can read it on the Homepage of the Dead. Romero was originally allowed a 7 million dollar budget if he could make the film R-rated but he knew he couldn't so he had to cut the budget in half which was why he could never produce his original epic idea which would have been considered a masterpiece by everybody.
Rating: Summary: NOT UP TO PAR FOR THE SERIES Review: THE MOVIE IS FULL OF MEANINGLESS DIALOG AND BRUTUAL GORE WITHOUT MUCH STORYLINE.IT IS NOT FITTING TO BE CONSIDERED WITH THE OTHER 2 GREAT FILMS IN THE SERIES.A VERY DISAPPOINTING FILM FROM A TALENTED DIRECTOR.ALTHOUGH, IF YOU LIKE GORE THE FILM DELIVERS.
Rating: Summary: The gore is something... Review: I saw Dawn of the dead and thought how can Day of the dead top this.In some way its a better film. The gore and effects are truly a sight to behold. And i loved the premise of the zombies taking over the earth. The only thing holding it back a nocth was there are too many parts in the film that are long and boring. But the ending kindof makes up for that.If you are a Romero fan or a Zombie movie nut,you should defiently get this film.

Rating: Summary: Glorious George's Zombie Fest!! Review: If you scrolled this far, you must like Romero, horror movies, zombies or all the previously mentioned! So if you haven't seen this movie yet, stop reading and ORDER NOW!! Audio & visual reproduction on this DVD are superb - I've never seen this movie looking better. For the first time ever I could make out pools of water and other scenery while the actors ran through the old mine/silo. Extras are a little limited - small featurette and trailer - but put this DVD above any previous release of the movie (the featurette briefly interviews Savini, the crazy lieutenant, hardcase Stone and a handful of zombies - but no George). A commentary from the man himself would have been nice - and surely there's more of the behind the scenes footage? What about Bud and the rest of the 'good guys'??? Next year is the 15th anniversary - or do we have to wait till 2005 for a 20th anniversary issue Anchor Bay??? Top marks to Anchor for this release, but role on the Special, just like the recently released Dawn of the Dead (thankyou for dropping the flipper!!) Top marks to Amazon as well..you're the best and not enough say so!
Rating: Summary: The best movie of all time Review: Day of the dead was for me, the greatest film in history. I have found no one who shares my opinion! The special effects are awsome, and the acting is good. I am the owner of all three special collectors editions, and all the regular movie boxes. See my page of the dead!
Rating: Summary: Nobody Does Zombies Like Romero. Review: Day Of The Dead is the third in a series of zombie films by George Romero. The other two previous films were Night Of The Living Dead (the classic) and Dawn Of The Dead. This one is about an undergroud group of scientists and military who are researching and trying to survive in an Earth that has been taken over by zombies. The DVD is widescreen with some great behind the scenes footage. There is also the theatrical trailer. There have never been any zombie films better than their creator, George Romero.
