Summary: A good sounding heavy metal band of the 80's!
Review: The movie was alot of fun to watch which featured Marc Price(The Keaton's neighbor Skippy on "Family Ties")who does an energetic performance in the movie. I thought that Fastway did very well with their music for the movie. I really like "Stand Up." Other great numbers are "After Midnight", "Get Tough", "Don't Stop the Fight" and the theme song "Trick Or Treat." Tony Fields plays the dead rocker Sammi Curr who lipsynchs to the songs. If you have the soundtrack, and haven't seen the movie yet, watch it on Halloween, you'll want to eat it up!

Summary: Great soundtrack to a great 80's classic flick!
Review: I noticed that these reviews are supposed to be for the cd but tend to be for the movie. Oh well I thought I'd be different and review the cd instead. So we have a classic soundtrack to a classic 80's flick. I wont go into the movie details. I am just glad they didnt ruin the soundtrack like they did in the movie by putting the Whodini rap crap song whatever the heck that was. I know it's Whodini cause I read the end credits. Of course the best songs being the short but to the point Tear Down The Walls and Heft. I dont know what a heft is but it is a cool trippy song. After Midnight rocks as well the rest I just cant give enough kudos to the cd. Get it with the dvd and you wont be dissapointed. "It's time to get tough the boy's had enough" Cliche' lyrics but to the point.

Summary: Perhaps the ultimate heavy-metal horror movie ever made
Review: Fans of horror movies and heavy-metal music are both in for a treat, literally, with this movie. Directed by character actor Charles Martin Smith (Terry Toad in "American Graffiti"), the film gives us a main character in Eddie Weinbauer (Price), who more closely resembles the high school "burnout" types of the 80s that you either knew or might have been yourself. The aspect of the villain, heavy-metal superstar Sammi Curr (Tony Fields) returning from the dead via a record played backwards might seem campy to some, but overall this is an excellent variation on the revenge fantasy genre. Weinbauer has a geekish yet likable quality, while Curr is scary and yes, believable enough to pass for a satanic 80s rock star. As a bonus, the film features cameos by real-life metal icons Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne, the latter playing an anti-rock preacher in a sequence of high comedy. If you're looking for a horror film that delivers the goods as well as possibly bring back a few memories of a decade gone by, get "Trick Or Treat".

Summary: Treat. Definitely Treat.
Review: Sometimes a movie can become a perfect little time capsule. "Trick or Treat" is such a movie. I have no idea how seriously the filmmakers intended it to be (the casting implies their tongues were quite firmly lodged in their cheeks), but it hits on, and satirizes, so many themes of its time - the alienation of outsiders, the perceived danger of heavy metal lyrics & backward masking, the fear of satanism - that I have to believe there's some kind of genius at work here.

It's not a perfect flick, by any stretch. It isn't the least bit scary, for one, and it has some awkward dialogue and pacing. But darned if it doesn't hold up as a nifty little satire. Oh, and the scene where the dead metal star seduces the girl through her walkman - that's pretty hot, and pretty much caters directly to the frustrated adolescent male mind. Which only illustrates the point more.

I'm a sucker for good genre movies, so I'm a sucker for "Trick or Treat." Plus it's great to see Skippy try to stretch a little.

Summary: "Trick or Treat" a timely classic
Review: How can I express how much I love this film? The combined elements of heavy metal and beyond-the-grave vengeance are the greatest in the history of 80's films. I recall back in 1986 sitting in the theatre watching this film and experiencing a euphoric sense of pride when the mother in the film digs through Ragman's (Marc Price) record collection. I owned every one she pulled out! Not to mention the character of Ragman made me feel less alone, and I'm sure many others felt the same. When Sammy Curr says, "WE . . . WILL BRING YOU DOWN!!" I still say, "Hell, yeah!" This film is glorious fun from beginning to end. It's more entertaining than any film of its kind, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the movies' representation of the McCarty-esque tactics of the PMRC, and the moralistic intent of the religious right (a hilarious cameo by Ozzy Osbourne), which gets plenty of lip service in the flick. The soudtrack by Fastway is still a classic. "Stand up and be counted" and buy this film! It will rock you senseless!

Summary: The best rock n roll soundtrack
Review: Even though this is a cheesey movie.
It's still a great movie with a killer soundtrack.
This is kind of a true story to.
Back in the 80's kid's were playing their
record's backward's.
But the record's did not talk back to them.

The soundtrack is awesome.
Even the song's that the bad guy sang were excellent.
If you like horror's this movie is for you.
Most of the film is not scary but it is cheesey.
It's still a classic 80's movie that everyone should own.
The film features Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne in it.

A classic soundtrack and a classic horror.

Summary: A product of the times
Review: Do any of you remember when all that bull that came out in the 80's about playing records backwards and how they had subliminal messages? Well that little controversy is main point of this film. When a teenage metal head plays a demo record of his favorite dead heavy metal singer backwards, he resurrects him as a demonic force. Why this hasn't become an even bigger cult classic than it already is is beyond me. This film is a definate product of the times. I am a huge 80's heavy metal fan, and I really enjoyed all my favorite bands making an appearance in this film in some way or another. The lead characters mom is going through his record collection with a shocked look on here face, and one of the records she comes across is Megadeth - Killing Is My Business. That just made me smile because Megadeth is one of my favorite groups. This film is a must watch for 80's horror film fans and heavy metal fanatics. It may have a silly premesis, but its played straight, and it has great results.
