Rating: Summary: One of the best musical horror type movies made to this day Review: A poor sweeper of a flower shop discovers that the unusual plant he bought during a total eclipse can not be fed by water, but needs blood in order to grow. But this peticular plant doesn't just grow on blood, it turns into a monumental plant and brings business blooming into the failing shop. After finger pricks aren't enough to satisfy the original thinker, the sweeper begins killing people to feed the plant until is learns to feed itself and alterior motives come into play. Outrageous ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW genre flick is one of the best of it's kind and a rarity to be blunt. Martin makes the dentist from MARATHON MAN look like a pushover and Greene is hysterical as the little woman. One of the "Not to be missed" movies.
Rating: Summary: Flowers bloom for SKID ROW! Review: Little Shop Of Horrors is a fantastic movie. With the musical/lyrical duo Alan Menken & Howard Ashman taking control there's hardly much to worry about! A fantasic performance by Rick Moranis (much better than Honey I shrunk the Kids!) he also has a surprisingly good voice! With the highlight songs being "Feed Me", "Mean Green Mother" and "Dentist" the musical version of the classic dark comedy will get you itching for it to finish so you can watch it all over again! One of the funniest parts of the film has to be seeing Steve Martin so young! It's worth buying just for that! If you know the story I recomend it; if you don't I still recomend it! So....what are you waiting for!
Rating: Summary: Somewhat of a letdown Review: Little Shop of Horrors is a very good movie. Currently I'm in this play, and let me tell you its nothing like the movie, so many songs edited out it takes away the excitement. So if you've seen the play, don't get yourself all hyped up, true Ellen Greene is still fantastic, but what happend to her voice? I would recommend seeing this movie, it is something no one should die without seeing. And if you want to see the play, you can see it Jan, 28,29,30- by Applause Theatre.
Rating: Summary: One of the best "remakes" ever done Review: Being a great fan of the original Roger Corman dark comedy, I was thoroughly prepared to dislike this film, particularly as a musical. Every film buff remembers the original classic "Lost Horizon" and the unspeakable musical disaster they tried as a remake in the '70's. I was convinced that this would be a similar embarrassment. I could not have been more wrong. The casting was absolutely inspired, particularly Rick Moranis and Steve Martin. The music was masterfully done and impeccably performed. Levi Stubbs and Ellen Greene were no surprise, since their voices are widely known and admired, but Rick Moranis? You won't believe just how well he pulls this off -- I'm reminded of the great surprise performance of Rod Steiger as "Poor Jud" in "Carousel." I have watched this gem perhaps twelve or fifteen times and still look foward to "Suddenly Seymour" and "Mean Green Mother." And I am not, strictly speaking, a big fan of musicals. This should have taken home at least four Oscars: Best Musical, Best Song (either of the two I listed above), Best Supporting Actor (Steve Martin or the Plant), and Best Score. You should NOT miss this flick.
Rating: Summary: Both "cute" and dark Review: This is both a great and bad movie: What's bad? For some parts of the songs, there's too much "empty" wordless space and in some spots as well as too much crammed in some spots. Something that's good and bad: Having the original ending (where several Audrey II's take over the world) cut off, which would have made it depressing; yet more strong metaphorically (someone being persuaded by riches into destruction).
Rating: Summary: Supper dupper Review: My comment will begin: If you were luck enoough to see the show in 1982 with ellene greene, you will love the movie. Ellene Greene is still Audrey who gets beaten up by her boyfriend. Steve Martin is the sadiastic dentist known as Orin Scrivello D.D.S. who afflicts paon to all of his paitents or tries to. Vincent Gardinda is Mr. mushnik the owner of mushnik's flower shop. He gets eaten by audrey II Rick morranis plays Seymour Krelborn the guy who creates Audrey II. This movie has lots of effects and a excellent cast. I suggest you see hte movie.
Rating: Summary: Moranis at his best! Review: Loved the movie, would have liked to see it on stage, though... Moranis does great as the role of "Seymour". Ellen Green does a good job as "Audrey". Therefore, you should see this movie. You'll laugh out loud a lot!
Rating: Summary: 'Little Shop' Is Fun! Review: 'Little Shop Of Horrors' is one of my favorite films. It puts music and wonderful effects together perfectly like no other movie I've seen before. Ellen Green is so wonderfully perfect, it's no wonder she went stright from the stage production to the screen. And who else (besides me of course) could play Syemour better than Rick Moranis. Such a treat. Still has a tone of darkness about it. Probably because of the sets being so colorless. Still, full of humor and great directing by Frank Oz.
Rating: Summary: Ellen Greene Steals the Show! Review: What can i say but "Little Shop" is one of the best stage-to-screen musicals. I have to admit I loved the play alot more. But since the first time I saw it at a very young age, I fell in love with the storyline and the character Audrey (played by the fantastic Ellen Greene). Ever since then I wanted to play Audrey in the stage version. And I got my wish, last year I played her in my boyfriend's high school production of it. The play and the movie are the best. Wonderfully wriiten music, especially Skid Row, Suddenly Seymour and my personal fav, Somewhere That's Green. If you haven't seen it, rent it. And if you haven't seen a stage production of it, go out and find one because it's the best. "Little Shop of Horrors" will live on Forever!
Rating: Summary: Can't live without it Review: I bought this video for my sister when it first came out on video. She loves it. Actually, I like it a lot too but she's obsessed. Some months back there was a fire at her house and all her videos were destroyed. So once again I am buying it for her to surprise her for her birthday. The songs are wonderful and the acting great.
