Rating: Summary: Enter the dead... Review: Evil Dead has gone on from it's Midnight Matinee to become a well-recognized movie of it's time and genre. Of course it is one of the most follwed Cult Classics, it is this way because of the superb director and cinematography. Yes, it's cheezy, but people, thats whats so great about it! It's fun to watch people disembody each other for there own good! AOD (Army of Darkness) & Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn follow up this cool, slightly humorous movie! this movie is a movie to be recogned with!!!
Rating: Summary: Banned in UK..... Review: ...so thank god for Dual PAL/NTSC videos!!Rockin' movie - better then all the crap 'Tounge and Cheek' Horrors that we get these days such as Scream. "Joooiinnnn Usssssss!"
Rating: Summary: This is my old time fave movie without doubt Review: Well I must admit, I saw this when I was well under the age of 18 but I think that was one of the reasons what made it the greatest movie ever for me. The style and atomsphere scared me more than any other movie I had ever seen and every thing in it seemed to fit my idea of the perfect horror film. I watched many horror films when I was young but this is the only one that I still talk about.
Rating: Summary: A TRUE Tour de Force of Horror Cinema Review: Sam Raimi's 1979 college project becomes one of the scariest and grossest horror films of all-time as 5 friends search for serenity and solitude at an isolated cabin in the woods but instead find malcontentmaent and macabre. A perfect example of creativity using an extreme low budget and no film since has been able to create the ambient terror that this film did. Was the bloodiest film until Dead Alive but still may be the grossest. Excellent camera work (later aped by other director's in more prominent films). Followed by two sequels which were more on the comedy/horror side but excellent nonetheless. Don't jump on the bandwagon with all of those Scream/I Know What You Did Last Summer fans, and check out the original camp/gore fest.
Rating: Summary: the feel-bad thriller of the century Review: I saw "Evil Dead" in high school, in an almost-empty theater, occupied only by the wierdest of wierdos -- the way splatter movies were meant to be seen. Never have I been more terrified at a movie. On video, it's not quite as scary, but it still makes me look away (remember the "pencil-in-the-ankle" effect?) If you're a fan of the genre, you need this one.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest. Review: One of the greatest horror movies I have ever seen. Straight to the point of being a horror movie. Not one of those horror/comedy combos, just straight horror. If you want horror/comedy, that's Evil Dead #2. And to think, all this was done for a college class project. I can't say enough good things about it, just go get it, or at least rent it, you owe it to yourself.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious Review: Evil Dead is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen . Yes , it's scary and gory , the camera as the eyes of the demons as it moves about the cabin is fantastic for keeping you on edge , but the dialogue and delivery [especially by Bruce Campbell] is the height of camp . For a night of fun rent the trilogy , invite over some friends , turn out the lights and sling one-liners at the screen . I almost think that is what the Raimis' want you to do . Could this be the next Rocky Horror ?
Rating: Summary: Good movie but acting left something desired Review: This movie has a good story to tell and it is a cult classic, but for a movie that was made in '79, I expected the acting to be on par with the storyline.
Rating: Summary: Filmaking at it's best Review: I have seen this film several times and have to say it is necessary for all horror fans to see. It is at the top of my movie list and if you've seen it, you'd agree. Anchor Bay Entertainment has done an excellent job restoring this film. It looks and soulds great. Includes the trailer after the film.
