Review: Wow, what a beautifully done film! I had NO idea, 'til I was invited to a private screening of "Le Pacte des Loups," its French title, how great this movie is. Mark Dacascos, as "Mani," is unbelievable -- what amazing moves this actor/martial artist has! The cinematography is stunning, and I love the Director of Photography's artwork. I love the scenery, I love the cast, I love the mysterious storyline, and I think this movie, as "Brotherhood of the Wolf" in the United States, will do very, very, VERY well, as it should!

Summary: SURPRISINGLY Great!
Review: My, my, my! Mark Dacascos can ACT! And MOVE! What an incredibly under-rated martial artist he is, and this movie proves it. I was really taken with this intense, beautiful drama -- the scenery is luscious, and the director of photography outdid himself with fantastically artsy shots, which kept me highly entertained. Yes, there is violence and "gore," which I did not appreciate, but because of the REST of this film, I'm glad I stayed through the entire 2+ hours. It is remarkably beautiful, and I think the cast was a splendid mix. A most enjoyable movie, and truly worth seeing.

Review: I had the great luck of screening the US release of this film recently. Before I list the good, I'll list my one and only complaint: It is quite gory. If you have difficulty with gore, bring someone with you to the theater who can tell you when you can look up again. On video or DVD, there's always fast-forward. Now on to everything else: This movie is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. The cinematography is inventive, unique, and truly gorgeous. The use of odd camera angles and slowing of time (more subtle than The Matrix) make the simplest shots (i.e. feet landing in a puddle of mud) a thrill to watch. Some of the most incredible fight sequences grace this movie, most starring cult-favorite Mark Dacascos. This is probably some of his most beautiful work, giving us a broad spectrum of his great skills. It's also quite obvious that the cuts used during his fight sequences are only there cinematic effect, and not for lack of ability or stamina. Some of his moves (all without wire-work) will leave you breathless. See it in the theaters, and buy it when it comes out on video. You won't regret it.

Summary: A French Sleepy Hollow
Review: This incredible film is almost a French version of Sleepy Hollow, it moves along exactly the same, until it gets to the action, where it leaves the Tim Burton film way behind. Not that Sleepy Hollow is bad, but this movie was influenced heavily by Japanese video games. It makes the French 18th century country side look like something out of the matrix, with the camera almost stopping in some scenes, then starting up again, only faster.

Review: This was definitely one of the best movies of the year for me. Fast, but well thought-through, sprinkled heavily with action sequences (I especially enjoyed Mark Dacascos and his superb martial arts training) but still not exactly an action movie. Also, the movie's pretty dark both in respect to mood and visual setting, very much like Tim Burton's The Sleepy Hollow. If you liked that movie, you'll love this one too.

The camerawork is mind blowing,the photography is outstanding and the fight scenes are among the best i`ve seen.If you don`t like French cinema do yourself a favor... this movie is a must see because director Christophe Gans gives us a mixture of Genre
unseen until now in movie making.
The only thing you have to do is to let the Poetry of this Dream
takes you miles and miles away.

Review: This movie could change your view on french cinematography. First of all great camera work. Christophe Gans, director, makes realy great mixture of ganres - historical drama with martial arts...Landscapes are so fantastic. Best movie for Mark Dacascos. For his fans a must see. Monica Bellucci is breathtaking in her femme role. What I realy liked was that there was not ending like most Hollywood has. Some of main characters die and get hurt so it becomes more realistic and believable. Fight scenes are truly superb. The plot is based on the true story of the Beast of the Gevaudan that terrorised France in the mid-XVIIIth century. The Beast has been attacking women and children for months and nobody has quite been able to harm it or even take a good look at it. I recomment it stongly.

Review: i am completely amazed as i read the other reviews of this movie and have to wonder if we saw the same film.
did we?
a movie with no characterization? terrible dialogue? a lot of slow-motion action sequences (trying desperately to copy the John Woo style)? a lot of style and glitz but no plot motivation to back it up? and a SUPER hokey ending?
and don't even get me started on the character of Mani. i'm from the region Mani is said to come from, and all of the displays of Native American traditions which are presented in this film are fabricated and presented to the point that i was insulted! did we see the same movie?
this is a good movie for cutiosity sake but little else.
