Summary: One of the best horror shows of 2003
Review: The movie Freddy vs. Jason is a good motion picture, because the person that acted as Jason made you think that he existed in real life. Jason, in this movie made us think he could not die. Only because of how many times It look as he should have died. Freddy should have played a better role in this movie, because he did not seem like a mass killer. The fights in Freddy vs. Jason needed to be longer. because the fights needed to appear longer. The killing that those two did should have been better, because the killing did not seem like anything in the other movie they've made in the past.

Summary: 1, 2, Freddy's Comin' for You! 3, 4, Jason's At Your Door!
Review: It has taken more than 10 years to get this promised pairing of horror icons Freddy Krueger (of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET fame) and Jason Voorhees (bemasked killer from the FRIDAY THE 13th sequels) to the silver screen, but the waiting sure has paid off. Director Ronny Yu and screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift stay faithful to the established origins of both characters, yet they still manage to merge the two cinematic mythoi in a way that seems logical and uncontrived. They have also peopled modern-day Springwood (Freddy's original stomping grounds) with fresh meat for the two serial killers to pursue, but most of these new characters are not the cardboard cutouts that are usually found in lesser slasher-flick fare. Instead, the audience is offered three-dimensional characters that, with all their human foibles, are familiar, likable, and easy to relate to. When the audience can identify with a character, it makes it all the more terrifying when the killer comes for 'em. And gettin' terrified is what these two horror franchises are all about.

The basic plot: Nightmare fiend Freddy has surreptitiously and deceitfully enlisted the aid of Jason to help him spur the memories of the kiddos he once terrified in the quaint little suburb of Springwood. If he can awaken images of himself in their memories, Freddy reasons, he will again be able to inhabit their nightmares and thereby continue his acts of terror and murder in the realm of Morpheus. But Jason is no yes-man, and he has a deadly agenda of his own. Eventually, this difference of philosophy leads to a showdown between our two prolific homicidal maniacs and....

As is the norm in the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET series, a lot of gallows humor is thrown into the mix, which should definitely please fans that back Freddy in this monstrous match-up. And those who root for Jason will be pleased to see that the ol' boy is still his reticent, esoteric self--and just as adept as ever at wielding that machete. Add in the outstanding special FX and make-up work, the good acting, and the occasional bare female breast, and Yu and company have cooked up one "killer" of a movie!

The outstanding two-disc DVD set is a slasher-flick lover's wet dream. Disc one offers a beautiful anamorphic widescreen transfer of the print, a feature commentary from the director and the two principal actors, and an amusing Jump-to-a-Death chapter-select option. Disc two is chock-full of other wonderful extras, including deleted and extended scenes (with optional commentary), behind-the-scenes featurettes, FX featurette, trailers, and more. Definitely a must-own for fans of the two horrific franchises, as well as for aficionados of the horror genre in general.

Summary: Shoulda been a Super Bowl halftime show
Review: Okay, first of all, I loved all the old Nightmare on Elm St. movies and Friday the 13th movies. But this movie was a total waste. It's not scary - AT ALL. The story and characters were ridiuculous. Don't waste your time. Even for pure camp value its worthless. What a letdown to what shoulda been a great idea come to life.

Summary: Great film.
Review: This was a really cool film with a sweet fight at the end. The only problem is that they ignored some things about the chrarctor of Jason. It said in Jason goes to hell that Jason was really a worm demon thing. In this it say's he kill's people because everyone picked on him. Besides that, Freddy vs Jason was one of the best film's of the year. I liked Jason X and New Nightmare better than this. Worth your money.

Summary: An Ok flick
Review: When Freddy Krueger brings back Jason to kill and let everyone know he is back, freddy starts appearing in dreams again! But when Jason steals Freddy's kills, Freddy desides 'it's time to put that bad dog to sleep for good!'

When I rented this movie, I expected it to be real stupid. But I was wrong. This movie is not stupid, but it wasn't good either. If you want to see a great horror flick, see the original 'Friday the 13th' and 'Nightmare on Elm Street'.

Summary: Rocket Scientists Abound...
Review: You know, after the first dozen or so reviewers copy the plotline from the original amazon review, I don't think it is a bonus when all four hundred other reviews try to recap the plot also. Sheesh! The folks reading this stuff understand the plot by that point. Freddy Versus Jason doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. Its a rollercoaster of a thrill ride set to the eighties tradition of the cheesy splatter flick. If thats what you call a good time, than by all means, enjoy it. Don't fret over these folks that can't seem to enjoy anything.

Would you guys please stop calling "Scream" a scary movie? That was the dullest thing on film. It was pretentious and unintelligent. That whole telephone call scene, taken from urban legends, in the beginning, was so overplayed on television commercials, that to go to the theater and be scared of that is just downright silly. Sorry, 'Scream' is a loser.

So is the awful "Blair Witch Project". That thing would have been scarier if you could actually see anything. Three dumb college kids lost trampling around the same twenty yards of woods for the duration of the movie, shaking the camera every time the stumble over a rock wasn't exactly scary. Gee, look, they've run out of everything EXCEPT batteries for their lights and cameras, how convienent. After watching them run around crying and screaming "F--- You!" at each other, over and over again, I was hoping they'd get killed. Glad I wasn't dissappointed on that score.

Is Freddy versus Jason oscar material? Get real--but then some reviewers on here act like they were expecting 'Citizen Kane' or something. I love the reviews by the folks upset that the 'winner' of this horror battle wasn't clearly resolved. Hello? Both these guys are supposed to be dead already, what part don't you get? This wasn't a movie designed to enlighten or seek morality answers. This movie was designed to be fun, and that it was. It was well done. Anyone seeking anything more than that is just plain goofy. When was the last time you went to a horror movie for the acting? Thats like saying you drink beer for the taste, lol!

This movie was done in the tradition of fun horror flicks that came before it, like Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness; not to mention the Elm St. series and the Friday the 13th series. Also check out Dog Soldiers if you want to see a fun low-budget werewolf flick. I also enjoyed the french made Brotherhood of the Wolf---it is a period-piece werewolf movie with sci-fi leanings and kung-fu fights. Sound weird? It is, but also oddly enjoyable.

Summary: My curiosity got the better of me
Review: I'm not what you'd call a devoted fan of the slasher genre; I saw the first "Nightmare" and thought it was clever. Saw the first "Friday" and liked it well enough. I saw the sequels roll in as the years went on and passed them all by. Once I heard they were actually making "Freddy Vs. Jason," though, I decided to give it a look-see, just to find out who won. (Answer: kind of ambiguous, but then I didn't really expect to see one picked over the other.)

I'm a big weenie when it comes to horror films, so to keep myself from being too scared I watched FVJ with the commentary on; it features director Ronny Yu, and stars Robert Englund and Ken Kirzinger. (I turn on the subtitles to catch the movie dialogue.) The commentary was pretty funny, with lots of remininiscing and joking about the making of the film and horror films in general ("Oh, I just saw people having sex! So you know they're going to die."). I'm not a big fan of pure gore without something more behind it, so the commentary was a nice addition to the film.

The second disc of features was also well done, with all the behind-the-scenes goodies die hard fans could want. I especially liked the fact that Ronny Yu would discuss a scene, they'd show storyboards, dailies, and then the finished scene as he spoke to illustrate his point.

Summary: Go Freddy
Review: Let me start off with saying Freddy has the advantage already. If anyone remembers Freddy dragged Jason into Hell in Jason goes to Hell. The movie acts as though Wes Craven's New Nightmare and Jason X never happened. So both of our heroes are in the same place. Hell. Since Freddy gets his powers from the fear of kids and nobody's afraid of him now he uses Jason to go to Elm Street to stir up trouble so Freddy can make his comeback. Things start to go wrong when Jason won't stop killing people so Freddy's not having any fun. Then Freddy manipulates a boy to make Jason unconscious. Then the surviving teens drive Jason to Camp Crystal Lake so Jason can have home field advantage. But Freddy decides to kill Jason in his sleep while he can't fight back. Then a girl grabs a hold of Freddy and brings him out of dream world to fight Jason. The battle was pretty cool but since they both keep coming back. Then two of the teens knowing what both of the villain's fears were lit a dock on fire and they both fell into the water. This movie was pretty clever but it was unrealistic.

Summary: Freddy vs Jason
Review: I've been a 'Nightmare on Elm Street' fan for some years, and the possibility of this film being made has always been up in the air. I never really thought much of the 'Friday the 13th' films. It's not that I don't like them, I just like Freddy more than Jason.
When I heard that after years of rumours, this film was finally going to be made, I jumped for joy. I must admit, though, I was a little worried. To be honest I thought that it would just be terrible. I am pleased to say I was very wrong.
This film was a blast. More of an action film rather than a horror, I thought it was exceptional. The film is ridiculously bloody and all of the actors apart from Robert Englund, a.k.a. Freddy Krueger, are awful actors. But hey, from a film entitled Freddy vs Jason, you don't want good acting. You wan't extreme violence, which you get. You wan't nudity, which you get. And you want Freddy and Jason to finally come to blows, which you get, and what a fight it is.
And talking about the fight. The only word I can say is...WOW. I know that's not even a word. But really, though, Freddy and Jason's fight is a kind of fight you would exspect from two titans of terror. It is, well and truly, the most brutal fight you will ever see on film.
So, if you didn't get this already, my advice is BUY THIS FILM! Your be glad you did, I can assure you of that.

Summary: FINALLY, THE BATTLE HAPPENS!
Review: THIS IS THE BATTLE THAT MANY HORROR FANS HAVE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT FOR YEARS. WHEN A DREAM SUPPRESING DRUG LEAVES FREDDY POWERLESS, FREDDY RESSURECTS JASON TO DO HIS DIRTY WORK FOR HIM. BUT WHEN JASON WON'T LET FREDDY RESUME HIS KILLING SPREE, THE TWO BATTLE IT OUT. IT'S BASICALLY STANDARD STUFF UNTIL THE CLIMATIC BATTLE BETWEEN FREDDY AND JASON. THIS MOVIE WASTES NO TIME GETTING TO THE PLENTIFUL GORE. I MUST SAY THAT THIS MOVIE IS BETTER THAN MUCH OF THE SOLO MOVIES THAT'VE COME FROM FREDDY AND JASON OVER THE YEARS. SLASHER FANS DEFINITELY WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED BY THIS MOVIE!
