Summary: Halloween - THE American Slasher Classic...
Review: There's not much you can say about a film that has been talked about to death. This, as many have stated, is John Carpenter's best work. The Divimax Edition Disc is truly a gem to have. The 90 minute documentary included is worth the price itself. This film accomplishes what it sets out to do, with little bloodshed, by setting up a suspenseful plot, and an edge of your seat finish. A must have for anyone remotely interested in horror. It set the standard for the slasher film.

Review: If you've never seen this movie, join the rest of the world and go rent it. That is, unless you're overly jumpy. 'Halloween' is a truely terrifying work of cinema and definitely Carpenter's best work. This film practically revived the horror genre after hibernating for over a decade. The story tells of an escape psycopath (Michael Myers) who returns to his hometown to do what he does best. Completely devoid of any human sentiment, his only modivation is to stalk and kill. Myers' horrific nature is magnified by his ghost-white mask and almost inhuman motions. Sound campy? On the contrary, the characters are very relatable and the plot more believable that most horror flicks. Plus the combination of music, lighting, and camera angles made this the scariest movie since 'The Exorcist' and sent John Carpenter and then newcomer Jamie Lee Curtis into stardom. Carpenter's score is so erie that your already scared by the end of the opening credits and the pacing is just right to keep you tense. Simply put, 'Halloween' is a brutal assault on your nerves an is not to be missed whether you're a horror meister or not.

Summary: Treat or Trick?
Review: I saw this B-Movie in the theatre with a fellow film school friend and we sat there easily predicting to eachother what was going to happen next. If you've seen any slasher films before - you've seen this one.
I like the fact that there is a cheapo culture out there, it often produces some charismatic stuff, but please don't endow this bland teenager movie with superpowers because when you were a kid you jumped out of your seat.
Fortunately for John Carpenter he has a following of people who apparently just can't get enough popcorn.
I like dumb movies too like the AMAZING COLOSSAL BEAST and I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF but I'm not about to give them four stars.To anyone that hasn't seen this yet but is intrigued by the success of the series I say ring another doorbell - they're giving out cheap candy over here.

Summary: Sweet Horror Movies
Review: There is no doubt about it that Halloween written by John Carpenter falls into the place in movie heaven where all the great horror movies are. Its up there with Night of the Living Dead, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Omen, The Exorcist, Sleepaway Camp, Friday the thirteenth and The Shining. This movie was great at its time because it was about girls babysitting getting stalked by a serial killer, its like, every teenage girl is gonna be afraid of this movie. And this movie was bood on when it was first shown to college students before it hit theatres, but soon more people started to go see it, and everyone began to love it. you get a hot chick being slamed in her a hole by her boyfriend, numerouse deaths, creapy music( plus a little blue oyster cult). This was the first movie that had the serial killer that couldn't be killed in it. The killer from hell,Texas Chainsaw had him too, but this was different, one took place in the Texas(duhhhh, texas Chainsaw massacre) and one took place i the subburbs (Halloween). I am ashamed to say i dont own this, but by friday ill own the 25th annivrsary addition. This movie kicks but. Sorry i wasn't that helpful, but believe me, see it.

Summary: Best of the Best of Horror
Review: There are certainly horror films more gory than Halloween, but I have yet to find one that exceeds it in giving the viewer a relentless level of tension. It almost does a disservice to the movie to watch it on a television because that level of tension best comes out when the movie is seen on a theater screen. I saw the movie at the theater when it was first released. I can't remember the number of times I was jolted in the theater seat by this movie. I enjoyed the scares so thoroughly that I remained for a second showing, and I made sure to watch the audience's reaction during the scary parts that I knew were about to come up. Donald Pleasance is wonderful as the relentless Dr. Sam Loomis, a man who spent more than a decade trying to reach "The Shape," also known as Michael Myers, who, as a child, was committed to an maximum security hospital after murdering his sister on Halloween night when he was but six years old. Loomis came to know Myers very well even though the child never spoke to him. In his words... "The darkest eyes. The devil's eyes." One night, Myers decides he has had enough of prison life and he escapes (a VERY scary scene). It's back to his hometown of Haddonfield and...you guessed it...it's Halloween again. Jamie Lee Custis is excellent in role of Laurie, a teenage bookworm/wallflower who is eventually hunted by Myers. She just needs to learn not to drop a knife. As the official review says, this is a pretty bloodless horror movie. Believe me, that in no way degrades it's quality. With Myers moving in and out of the background (lurking) to build the tension, you don't need a lot of blood. John Carpenter's musical theme for the movie is a classic, and it certainly adds to the tension in the scenes. Solid writing, directing, and acting. It's a shame they felt it necessary to make sequels.

Review: I have seen this tripe, for probably about 50 times. The first time was scary, but then the second, third, and fourth etc., got boring. this movie has no plot. just a maniac killing teens. how many times have we seen this? friday the 13th, texas chainsaw massacre, nightmare on elm st., scream, etc. seeing the same thing over and over and over again, made me climb the walls. this slasher-movie garbage is getting old.

Summary: A horror Masterpiece at the very best
Review: I saw this movie when I was little and it was very scary. Not Gory to be gory(John Carpenter doesn't do that in this movie)It is a suspensful thriller that not only keeps you scared but for some reason interested. The Station wagon that Michael Meyers follows Jamie Lee Curtis and her friends around is just spooky and creepy by itself. The empty house plays a part in this as well. Donald Pleasance in probably his best performance to date is great as the doctor on the trail of this troubled man who becomes a killer and goes and terrorizes the town of Haddonfield but only a few people know it when he shows up. The rest would be oblivious to what is going to happen in their little town.

Summary: Overrated
Review: John Carpenter is usually regardede as one of the great directors of the genre, but I find him terribly overrated. In the seventies and early eighties he had a good grip on suspense, his movies were mostly amateurish, but inciting. Today one would expect him to be a professional, but he's still directing pure dilettantism, lacking the enthusiasm of his earlier work.
Although Halloween is quite scary, in a somewhat childish but effective way, the ethichs are really the most terrifying thing about it, hilarious and monstrous at the same time: Teenagers, having fun in their parents beds, are butchered by a heavy-breathing retard wearing a Halloween-mask. Only the virtuous babysitting heroine survives this sexual-fascist Endlösung. One would almost suspect that these kind of movies were made with the support of the Christian Right.

Summary: The Greatest Slasher Film Of All Time Turns 25
Review: This film is undoubtably the greatest slasher of all time, unless your a grandparent then your still with Psycho, which is still good. But both have had a big impact, but with Halloween being called the second scariest film of all time under The Exorcist the older does not mean the wiser. It is pacted with everything a slasher or just any horro should have, good kills, suspense, good characters, and the most important scary asss music which Halloween has claimed to this day as maybe the scariest. Well enough said if you don't buy it, your an idiot if you like good horror. Price may be an issue so just go to Best Buy keep it on the down low ssshhhh......
