Summary: Utterly Ridiculous
Review: Anyone who thinks this is a "definitive" version or a "director's cut" is sadly misinformed. For the record, Carpenter filmed these 'extra' scenes for tv as the censors had cut so much material from the theatrical release that it wouldn't fill the necessary time-slot. That's why the 'new' scenes are not widescreen. Furthermore, and more importantly, Carpenter has said that he HATES these scenes. Just his to his own words on the Criterion LaserDisc commentary. That this version is marketed and hyped is pathetic.

Review: Finally the TV version is available without having to record it will cuts off of TV. This version is the only one I watch, now, because it adds oh so much to the story. My favorite scene is the first one where Loomis fights with the sanitarium officials. The other three scenes are great, though!

Review: Halloween is a masterpiece in horror and something that should be seen for anyone interested in horror. The 'Extended Version' does not inclue scenes that were deleted, but added a few years after the film was released.While John Carpenter was working on Halloween 2 the first film was set to be shown on network television for the first time. Some content was forced to be deleted and the running time was significantly shorter than the normal two hour time slot. John Carpenter used the some of the second films cast and filmed a few additional scenes to boost the running time, and to connect the film with the revelation in the sequel. You can notice why Jamie Lee Curtis has a towel on her head, in the film she has obviously just come out of the shower, but that was done because she was actually forced to wear a wig during the second film because her hair didn't fit with the way it appeared in the original, that is most likely why she is wearing a towel on her head. The scenes add little or nothing to Halloween, and actually don't drag it down from its high point. I can recommend the 'Extended edition' simply for fans of the series because the scenes link the film to the sequels, unlike the theatrical version. THEATRICAL EXTENDED VERSION 31/2 stars A limited and standard edition have both been released, the standard containing no extras, and the limited containing a still from an actual theatrical reel of the original Halloween. That alone should sell the product for fans of the series as it is a true collector's item. PLEASE READ THIS. Review: Halloween is Best horror movie ever made. The addition of extra and deleted scenes in this dvd make it the definitive and more complete version. Halloween still scares me to death everytime I watch it! Buy a copy now. Lock your doors, bolt your windows & turn of the lights. You wont be disapointed, Just terrified.....

Review: Hallowwen is a great movie. I believe that most of the Halloween's are great for exception of 3, 4, and 5. All in all Micheal Myers will always be the scarest creations alive.

Review: I have the THX remastered theatrical disc and also the extended television version. I was not particularly thrilled with the sound on either disc. The 5.1 THX disc was clear as crystal and it enhanced a lot of obscure background sounds that help enrich the production, but I was constantly adjusting the volume to hear dialogue then avoid ear-splitting music and/or "stingers" (one-note musical bursts to catch you off guard and make you jump). The Dolby 2.0 track on the extended TV version was much more even. Picture quality of the two discs was too close for me to be concerned about. Both offer sharp, brightly colored images, though the added scenes on the TV version are a little muddy and the sound is definitely not up to par. I was thrilled to find that the extended version is indeed the "R" rated version (brief nudity and some objectionable language) with the TV scenes thrown in. Both discs boast a 2.35:1 aspect ratio but the view on the THX disc is slightly wider than the TV version (who really cares). As for the story, it is a masterful classic. Younger viewers need to look for the art of the film and not expect a bone-chilling thriller as those of us did who quaked in our boots at the film's 1978 debut. The times have changed too much. This film is a keeper and a huge credit to the film technology and writers of the 1970's, a decade where so many films were just too trendy and dumb. Buy both discs. View one of them on Halloween and watch its immediate sequel!

Review: I hope Anchor Bay has finally finished releasing this movie on VHS and DVD. This is now the sixth time they have re-released HALLOWEEN and I'm tired of waisting my money by having to up-grade to the latest and greatest version. Now having said that, Anchor Bay has done a good job in re-releasing the extended version of HALLOWEEN seperatly on its own for die hard fans of this version. The last re-release, the 2-Disc set which featured both versions in a clam shell case, is still THE BEST available on the market. But if you like the extended version more than the theatrical version, this DVD is for you. The new scenes, which were shot for TV but look theatrical, blend in perfectly and make HALLOWEEN all the more better. If you liked HALLOWEEN before, than you will like it 10x more after you see it with the new scenes. More Loomis, more younger Michael, and more girl talk make HALLOWEEN an official masterpiece.

Summary: Tv version or still rated R?
Review: I just wanted to know if this is the exact real movie with no edited scenes but just extra features, or if it is the actual edited version they show on tv. Im not sure cause its not rated so I dont want to buy it if it has the curses blocked out and edited parts. I do want to buy it if it is the real halloween movie but just with extra scenes. Please help
