Summary: JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT..
Review: IS EXCELLENT IN THIS MOVIE, SHE KINDA REMINDS ME OF JAIME LEE CURTIS WHEN SHE WAS IN HALLOWEEN. HER CHARACTER IS SMART, PRETTY AND BRAVE. THIS STARTS OUT WITH A GROUP OF TEENAGERS OUT JOY RIDING AND THEY HIT BEN'S DAUGHTER SARA, BUT INSTEAD OF TELLING ANYONE WHAT THEY DID THEY DUMP THE BODY, THAT'S A BIG MISTAKE. THEIR'S A FISHERMAN WITH A HOOK IN HIS HAND, BEN, AND HE TAKES HIS REVENGE KILLING THEM ONE BY ONE. IT'S REALLY NOT A BAD MOVIE FOR A TEEN SLASHER. IT KEEPS YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT UNTIL THE VERY END.

Summary: I feel your pain
Review: That is an actual quote from this movie. The dialoge never improves, and it is gory. And the plot? Where is the plot? No where that I can see. By pass this movie, it blows.

Summary: Not Horrifying, but Certaintly Entertaining
Review: I Know What You Did Last Summer is noted as the 2nd teen horror movie in the new teen phases that started with Scream. Kevin Williamson, the writer of Scream, also wrote I Know. And it shows in the witty dialogue and actions of the characters. But this isn't a bad thing, because there are great differences between the two movies' characters. I Know tells the story of four teens who commit a hit & run, and cover up. Turns out, they didn't cover it up as well as they thought when whoever they hit has come back to kill them. Stellar performances are given by Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillipe in this movie. Too bad they're the ones to meet their demise, because I think they would've worked better in the sequel. If they would have agreed to do it. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. faired well, but didn't shine as much as Sarah and Ryan. I must comment on the directing. I think it was very good. Especially Helen's (Sarah's character) chase scene. To me, it's one of the most tense chase scenes out of any horror / suspense movie. Jim Gillespie really took the effect of the dark and shadows in I Know. It seemed as if he used them every chance he got, and it worked well. But his commentary on the dvd wasn't that interesting. It had it's good points, but most of it was - in a way - boring. In conclusion, I Know What You Did Last Summer was full of suspense, great acting (especially Sarah & Ryan), and good directing.

Summary: Doesn't really Hold Up after Repeated Viewings.
Review: When I saw this film at the cinemas, I loved it. It was Scary, Funny, it Introduced the world to 4 top young stars and it had a Really Cool Killer.

When I hired the film.. I still liked it, but my Love for it was gone. It's the sort of film that loses value after every viewing because it relies to heavily on False Scares and it has too many long stretches between Killings. By the Third Viewing, I was just plain sick of the film. I Knew What They Did Last Summer, and it doesn't change after multiple viewings.

The Acting is Average for the Genre, Jennifer Love Hewitt Secures her Screen presence for Years to come in a Sympathetic role that, in Lesser hands, Could have come off Annoying. Freddie Prince Jr, on the other hand, Does come off annoying. He is Not the sort of actor who fits well into the Horror Genre, as his "Scared" looks identical to his "Dopey, Puppy dog" face, all he seems to do when he is supposed to be fearing for his life is open his mouth wider.

Ryan Philippe's Supporting role becomes a Lead role as he Bullies the rest of the cast into taking the back seat . He comes off Strong and Appropriately Smug in a role that Overpowers anyone Unlucky enough to share the screen with him, he is still a lot of Fun to watch though. Sarah Michelle Geller Looks Mighty Fine and Screams well, so she also comes off well.

The Death scenes are Few and Far Between, the Ending is Anti-Climatic and the Acting is Merely Good, but on the First viewing, none of this gets in the way of the Fun. It's after Repeated viewings that all of the becomes more Evident, so if you Still haven't seen it, do so and Enjoy yourself... And try not to Think too much.

Summary: Good acting, some excitement, but clichéd.
Review: Capitalizing on the success of "Scream" and "Scream 2," screenwriter Kevin Williamson has brought us yet another teenage horror film in which young people are stalked by a mad killer out for some type of revenge. "I Know What You Did Last Summer" brings nothing new to the genre in terms of action, suspense or thrills, but does possess a certain degree of originality in its story which makes it watchable. The cast of teen characters, played by good, not great, actors, also contribute to the film's likeability.

The story begins in Southport, North Carolina, where four friends, Julie, Ray, Helen and Barry have graduated high school and are ready for the summer of their lives. One night, after a party in celebration of Helen's crowning as the queen of the town's annual festival, they four drive out to a beach, telling scary legends, Barry drinking himself silly. Through slightly predictable circumstances (tell me you couldn't guess what was going to happen), their car runs into a man in a fisherman's slicker, and they assume he's dead. Taking his body to a local dock in the late of night, they dump him into the water, all swearing to an oath never to mention the events of that night again.

The story does a commendable job of keeping us involved with what's happening in the plot, and doesn't stop here. A year has passed, and Julie, who has been away at college, is returning home for the first time since last summer. She has become despondent and detached since that night, and actress Jennifer Love Hewitt is able to bring life to the role that requires none of it. She portrays quite convincingly Julie's depression, as well as her hidden fear when Julie receives an unaddressed note that bears the words "I know what you did last summer." She immediately takes it to the rest of the group, who have all gone their separate ways, as well as leaving their own dreamed unfulfilled. They all begin to speculate about the identity of the sender, but soon, its gets even more personal when he starts appearing in person to tease them before the final showdown.

This is the point at which the story gets a little silly, with Julie and Helen rushing to the home of the supposed stalker to converse with his mentally unbalanced sister, played by a disturbingly evil-looking Anne Heche, to play detective, trying to find clues as to his past. They think this is the person they ran over, his name being David Egan, and the fact that he died exactly on the same night as the night they ran over the fisherman seems to make sense to them. They begin throwing all sorts of clues out, intercut with shots of Julie tapping into the Internet to find more clues into the past. Call me crazy, but why not read ALL of the articles the first time?

His sister tells the two that David had a friend by the name of Billy Blue, who they think may have some information into the identity of the person following them. This is the point at which the bodies begin to appear, as is customary for a film of this sort, leaving the four main characters to run and scream while the killer pursues them. There is a good bit of violence and gore, but it does not overtake the film like you would think (most of it really doesn't look that convincing). The final payoff for the movie seems like a bit of a letdown as well, because the person who ends up being the killer is the person you knew would have the position all along. I'm not going to give it away, but seriously, anyone who possesses half a brain will figure out who it is before the movie is even halfway done.

While the movie does have more than its fair share of clichés and is confusing in places, the story does have a small ring of originality to it. The entire piece about running over someone and then throwing the body away, only to have someone come chasing after you with a fishhook, really never has been done before, so you have to give the movie credit for coming up with a new way of killing people off, even if the killing part is done conventionally and without anything new.

The bright young cast does bring a lot to the story, no matter how you look at it. Jennifer Love Hewitt brings a lot to her role as Julie, who is the center for most of the action and suspense that goes on throughout the movie. Freddie Prinze, Jr. plays Ray, and does so well, being one of the teen heartthrobs that bring a teen girl audience to the movie. The other heartthrob is Ryan Phillipe, who plays Barry, the rough-tough guy who is basically all talk and no action when it comes to intense situations. And Sarah Michelle Gellar plays Helen, and while this is not one of her best roles, she does a nice job of instilling a sense of fear in her character.

"I Know What You Did Last Summer", while having an original story, does nothing new in terms of mayhem, and brings more confusion than lucid understanding to the table. It is clear that this is a movie aimed at a teenage audience, unlike the "Scream" films, which seem to be aimed at a broader audience. Still, this movie is good in acting, and its story does have a slight ring of freshness to it, so really it all depends on what turns your crank.

Summary: I Love What They Did Last Summer!
Review: My brother and his girlfriend went to the theater to go see this movie, on the first weekend that it came out, and they could not stop talking about it. One of the reasons that they didn't stop was because it scared (the toughest of people to scare) my brother. I thought oh yea sure, this is just another horror movie, and it will probably end up just like another big horror movie, which will remain nameless ( a clue...it starts with S and ends in Cream!). I waited until it came out on video before I watched it, and I loved it! It gave me chills and thrills like I had never had before!

The story is about 4 teenagers who are starting their road into adulthood. Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has just won the Croaker Queen title, and they decide to celebrate by going to the ocean, and getting a little drunk...I mean tipsy. Big mistake. As they are driving home, they accidentally hit a guy. Through fear they take him to a dock and throw him over into the ocean. One year later, what do you know, he comes back, and starts knocking them off one by one.

The entire movie is well done, and I was surprised that none of the Scream elements were used. The chase scenes are even more inventive, and some of the other parts are even more scary then it's prediscessor.

If I can make a recomendation rent Scream and I KNow What You Did Last Summer, and watch them both one after another. They are both fine films which both deserve credit for being totally original.

Summary: Strangely enjoyable slasher flick
Review: First of all, if you are hoping to see a screen adaption of Lois Duncan's chilling novel of the same name, look elsewhere. The two are completely disimiliar save for the "i know what you did last summer" note sent by the "killer". Taken as a new experience I know is a pretty good horror movie. Sure it's illogical, but aren't they all? The cast is good, and Anne Heche makes a brief but cool appearance. It's fast paced, will make you jump at least a few times, and is quite fun. The identity of the killer doesn't really matter. Bear this in mind as you watch.
