Summary: Horror Movies don't get much worse
Review: OK, this is an example of a cult horror movie that you shouldn't see. I mean never, not even to widen your viewing horizons. This movie is so horribly terribly terrible that if I had ever found a magic lamp, one of my three wishes would be to regain the time of my life I lost while watching this [garbage]. I know, supid analogy, but that is the best one I could come up with right now. Don't get me wrong, I love, I mean love horror movies. Even ones that are sometimes hated like the cult classic Last House on the Left that happens to be one of my all time favorite horror movies. If whoever reading this hates Last House on the Left and has never seen Sleepaway Camp, it is like comparing The Shawshank Redemption to Joe Vrs. The Volcano( now that was a bomb! ). I think you get the idea of how much I loathe Sleepaway Camp.

Now for the movie itself. Well, it is about a psycho mom that wants her son to look more like a girl. So then the transvestite teen goes to camp, gets made fun of, and kills. The he she then makes out with this other boy and reveals herself by the end of the movie.

If you thought that Nightmare on Elm Street 2 was [dumb], this one is ten times as bad. Well, not ten, but you get what I am trying to say. I cannot urge you enough not to see it.

Oh, and it has two sequels aswell. Number 2 is okay, and the third is the charm of the series. I would recommend those two instead, they are the funny exploitation kind. Just watch the third one if any but please keep your distance from this thing.

Summary: A newly discovered cure for insomnia!!
Review: The story makes absolutely no sense, but I suspect the he/she we have the privilege to meet at the end of the film has something to do with what happens, but it's hard to say because the film is so distasteful. I can't say I even remotely enjoyed it, even though I love horror movies.
I don't understand why we keep looking at the girl's past. It has absolutely nothing to do with any of the already mediocre events that occur during the film, but who am I to say?

Summary: Avoid the spoilers in other reviews on this site!
Review: First, let me suggest that you don't read the other reviews on this site. The ending is the best part of this movie, and while the other reviews don't completely give it away, they do foolishly give hints that might make you guess it ahead of time. What were the reviewers on this site thinking! For the best effect you shouldn't have any extra hints at all.

Now that I've warned you, I'll give a general review. I wasn't too fond of this movie. I read that the ending was one of the best of any movie, and so I gave it a try. Well, the ending was surprising in a way, but it didn't make the trip there worthwhile for me. I didn't really feel a sense of creepiness at all, and the movie definitely had a campy feel (no pun intended). I should say that I'm not really a fan of the Friday the 13th series either, though. If you like Friday the 13th, you'll probably like this more tame take on the same basic premise too. And if you like the bulk of the movie, the ending will really be icing on the cake.

Summary: Do Yourself a Favor
Review: Of all the teenage horror movies I love, and there are a lot of them, Sleepaway Camp is far above the rest. The weirdest and most awkward characters of all time make up this cast of muscle men that don't stop flexing, mad little quiet girls, and pedophile chefs. I am in love with this movie. It gets the award for creepiest mom ever, most uncomfortable/beautiful flashback sequences, and, as we all now know, THE MOST [MESSED] UP ENDING IN MOVIE HISTORY!

Summary: Without a shout of a doubt, one of the best horror movies!
Review: Step back Michael and Jason because Angela is here. And this movie is just what the doctor ordered. You got Hitchcock elements mixed with M. Night Shymalan type endings. What more could you ask for. The plot is basically simple, there is a camp and kids get killed off. While this may seem cliched, overused, and just plain rediculous, it's really not. The killer is extremely predictable, but the ending just steals the movie. If you watch it till the end, which you should, you're left with one of the most chilling and haunting pan out to freeze frame endings I've personally ever seen in a movie. This movie delivers everything except nudity, which can be done without. This movie was followed by 4 sequels, one of which is in the works now, and one of which was never finished being filmed. Expect the new one "Return To Sleepaway Camp" to hit theaters sometime early next year, as it is in stages of being filmed right now. As for Sleepaway Camp 4: The Survivor, don't bother, never was finished, for more info go to [the website], the webmaster is in the process of putting the what would of been a trailer for it, and pieces of the movie that actually were shot. Unfortunately for all SC fans, Angela will not be returning as the killer in RTSC, however she was set to be the killer in SC4, but since thats not gonna happy, oh well. Definitely check this movie out ASAP. If you're not off ur ass renting or buying it, you damn well better

Summary: Sleepaway Camp- A Gold Mine of '80's Cinema!!!
Review: Sleepaway Camp is a film like no other, except for maybe all ten Friday the 13th films, and any other slasher flick ever made, but don't let that discourage you. Sleepaway Camp is one of the best works of horror cinema I have ever viewed. Whilst the gore is not so intricate that it will make Grandma Rose vomit in her lap, it gets the job done. The screenplay is absolutely hilarious, in which every boy at camp is looking to get some play, and every girl at camp... is looking to get some play. For those of you who might watch part of it and said, "This is horrid. I'm turning this piece of [junk] off and chucking it into the sea," you haven't watched it long enough. This film may seem monotonous and overplayed at times, but hang in there. If you watch it until the end, I guarantee you won't regret it. This film is wonderful. I give Sleepaway Camp all the praise I possibly can.

Summary: SLEEPAWAY CAMP, the best gore & the best ending EVER
Review: SLEEPAWAY CAMP was awesome. I stumbled upon it on the web one day and I thought it looked cool. So, I went to my video store and rented it. I watched it with my best friend and till this very day (or this very second, even), we are trying to put the pieces together & figure out the ending! This movie truly makes you think very psychologically and with depth, unlike other horror movies. At first, it seems like a slasher flick, but after you see the ending (which, by the way, is so incredibly shocking and unexpected, that I found myself comparing it to anything Hitchcock has ever done) it turns into a very deeply disturbing movie that you need to watch over and over to get the clues. It is so easy to guess who the killer is and why, but when the ending comes, you realize that there was a MUCH different motive besides revenge. The gore was REALLY good and it was so medically accurate, that I completely forgot they were props! And, the deaths (were not only gruesomely realistic) but they were very creative! I liked the killer's sneaky approach and the cunning idea that he/she had! I thought the gore was pretty shocking, but then that ending comes! The way the killer just silently hums as he/she handles a human head is VEEERRRRRRY eerie, because they show no remorse for what they've done and they truly seem insane & very unstable (and for good reason!). I won't even begin to mention the plot because the ending just steals the whole movie! It is the single most shocking moment in cinematic history! Nothing can prepare you for what you see! I could not believe it and till this day, I still do not believe that they did what they did! All I can say is you'll never forget itt!

Summary: Could've Been Better
Review: I read one review and have to say I agreed completely. This movie had a chance to be a huge horror success. It has all the characteristics of the genre except one, it really wasn't scary. The killings were not the type you talk about with your friends. They could've been more gorey a la Friday the 13th as it takes place in the same time frame.

The movie itself, However is tolerable in that the story is interesting enough to get you to THE ENDING!! You may have seen some weird endings before but nothing can prepare you for this. As everyone else has said I'm not giving it away. If I could give 2 1/2 stars I would. If they would've expanded the killing scenes and spilled some more blood I would've rated it a 4.

Summary: A Missed Opportunity.
Review: They were so close. All they had to do is come up with 83 minutes of decent horror movie before "THE ENDING", but they couldn't do it. All the slasher bases are covered here; shy girl with a tragic past, rebel hunk with a heart of gold, bullies who make life miserable for the weaker kids, clueless adults. Unfortunately, to make an entertaining slasher movie, you need to make the deaths suspenseful (HALLOWEEN) or horribly violent and bloody (FRIDAY THE 13th). Sleepaway Camp does neither. It just gets some one of the boys/girls alone and kills them in clever (but non-entertaining) way. It seems like the filmmakers got the idea for "THE ENDING" and tried to hang the rest of the film around it.

"THE ENDING": Ah, yes. "THE ENDING". I won't reveal it to you, don't worry. It's overrated, though, and doesn't make up for the previous 83m. of film. What slasher movie doesn't have a "shocking" ending? Who can forget Adrienne King being dragged into the murky water of Crystal Lake? Or Donald Pleasance looking out over the balcony to the ground below? "THE ENDING" is good, but it doesn't justify sitting through the first hour and twenty minutes of the film. I understand that now they're filming "Return to Sleepaway Camp". I only hope they put as much effort into the whole movie as they do into the ending.
