Rating: Summary: If The Urban Legend Is Boredom And Stupidity, It Wins! Review: Can I take away that one star I put? What a terrible film with a flimsy premise! The only kind of bright spot was seeing Freddy Krueger veteran, Robert Englund in the film. And then they killed him! Lousy acting and not at all believable villian. Scream, while meant to be tongue-in-cheek anyway, was much more fun than this quickly processed garbage! Go and watch Halloween or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre if you want to have a good fright. The only thing scary about this was everything that wasn't intended to be: script, plot, acting, direction, etc.
Rating: Summary: Urban Legend Review: Gezz, I guess they really don't make movies like they used to this move was so horrible I walked out of the theatre and I never do that. The plot was okay but after the first 20 mins it was all down hill from there.
Rating: Summary: Another Scream clone Review: A group of young college students get stalked by a killer obessed with making urban legends reality. This movie had a good enough story but made it to much like any other Scream clone. Very pradictably all the way through and a hopeless ending. Very disappointing.
Rating: Summary: A complete waste of time! Review: A bunch of readers nailed it right on the head. This Saturday afternoon tv matinee romp reeks of Scooby-doo chararcters and story lines. Rebecca-duh-Gayheart needs acting classes way bad, ten year's worth. Only then would she barely qualify for squeeze-the-Charmin- commercials. This is not horror, but a lame excuse for a slasher movie trying hard at times to be funny. Nothing works for this waste of celluloid except the intro scene with Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) as the gas station attendant. After that, turn your set off and watch something else. This movie is so bad, Burt Reynolds collects royalties.
Rating: Summary: Creativity.... Asset or crime. Review: Scream 1, Scream 2, H20... yadda yadda yadda. If you were looking for a "Scream" or "Jason" then you need to view those movies. If you want creativity, then Urban Legends will fit the bill. The young Mr. Blanks took an ancient set of stories and put an atractive, and dare I say, genuis spin on things. For the 35+ crowd you may actually learn some new ones. (Pop-rocks and soda?) Not taking into account the impressive cast, the music and special effects (that poor doggy) were good for a scare. I was privy to information regarding some of the choices presented to Jamie Blanks. Believe me, the guy is a prodigy in his field. One of the best imports from Ozie-land since Mel Gibson. Friends are VERY proud!
Rating: Summary: A Great Thriller. Review: As you can probably tell my nickname, I enjoyed this movie alot. I was suspensful and fun to watch - great for a party! The story goes like this - Natalie (Alicia Witt) has just put together her past and the terrifying link between her dark secret and the murders of her best friends. Now, with help of hot school journalist Paul (Jared Leto) and best-friend Brenda (Rebecca Gayheart) they take the madness further and try to find a serial killer! This one is gonna blow you away!
Rating: Summary: Okay, here's how it works... Review: if you know ANYTHING about Urban Legends from the many books written on them (or fireside camp stories you were told as a kid) then there's really no reason to see this movie. I knew EVERYTHING that was gonna happen before it happened. Most of the murders are based on some urban legend, which is creative, but alas for anyone with knowledge of these tales, it's also predictable. Ordinarily I wouldn't even review a movie like this because it's unfair for me to judge when it's disadvantage is so obvious. But this movie is flawed in other categories. For one, too many cheap scares. How many times are we gonna see a really tight shot on a person who bumps into something that turns out to be just a friend (sneaking up without introducing themselves for no apparent reason). These "jump" scares just aren't effective in this film. The beginning sequence showed promise and skill too, not going the route of the jump scare at all, relying more on atmosphere and tension buildup. Alas that was the last scene of the movie I enjoyed. I won't spoil the ending, but let's just say that our killer must've been the progeny of Michael Myers or something, and I REFUSE to believe that they have the strength to carry out the murderous acts that have been performed. Quite frankly, I don't think it's a very good film, but go ahead and add a star to my review if you know little to nothing about Urban Legends in general.
Rating: Summary: Awesome! Review: I really enjoyed this movie. From the moment the gas station guy yells at this girl, "There's someone in the back seat! ", my full attention was given to this movie. The story line is what makes this movie a smash. I am fascinated by serial killers for some reason and even a dumb movie like "Serial Mom" appeals to me. I never knew what an urban legend was until I saw this movie, and now I know what to call them. I heard of a few of the legends before and it really excited me to try and discover which legend the killer would use next and who would be the next victim. A must see action-packed thriller!
Rating: Summary: A unique and mostly entertaining horror film, but not Review: exactly Event Horizon... This movie has the standard contrived plot common to all but the very best of the genre. The only twist is that all of the killings in this movie are done based on cheesy urban legends. Rebecca Gayheart plays a convincing gullible friend/psychopath, and the other actors & actresses play their parts well, even that guy from the abhorrent Dawson's Creek. Overall, this is not the best horror film out there, but it is a good way to spend an hour and a half.
Rating: Summary: The Best Horror Movie since The Exorcist and Halloween Review: When a college is terrorized by a man in a coat with an ax Natlie must find out who the crazed psycho is and stop him. Great for any horror movie fan! Scary and bloody! You'll love to see it again and again.
