Summary: What a Long and Boring Trip It Has Been
Review: I admit I had never heard of this movie prior to renting it on DVD. In fact, the only reason I DID rent it was due to the appearance of the beautiful and talented Eliza Dushku. I am sorry to say Eliza, that not even you could save this movie. I could not help but wonder, as I watched this borefest, what the point of it was. Part of me prayed and hoped for a Lynchian type ending that would at least make me think "Ohhhhhhhhhh" and appreciate what I had just watched. I was sadly dissappointed.

In an attempt to not ruin the ending, for those of you who may actually appreciate this movie, I will suffice it to say it wasn't worth the long and grueling wait. It made me feel as if I had wasted my time. There was no "Ohhhhhhhhhh" to be found. It was actually more of an "Are you kidding me?" Don't get me wrong here. This movie had serious potential to be great, as did another dissappointment, the sequel to Urban Legends. Neither were worth the time wasted. I will however, like I have done so many times before, rewatch it to see if knowing the ending makes for a better movie. In the case of this movie it actually might. I doubt it, but it might.

Check it out for yourself but remember ..... I warned you.

Summary: great.
Review: All I have to say is that this is a really good movie. It started out a little slow for me though. However, I do not think "The Killer Cut" actually suits it. There were a lot of twist in the movie, that made it a little confusing at times; but you can still find out the theme in the end too.

Melissa Sagemiller (Cassie) did very well in the movie, Casy Affleck (Sean), was decent too. Eliza Dushku (Annie), was of course a great actress and Wes Bentley (Matt), was alright.

Summary: Soul Survivors Doesn't Survive Bad Editing
Review: Unlike a lot the post-Scream teen horror movies that have spilled out, Soul Survivors showed signs that it could have been a standout. Although the plot is borrowed, this movie had a talented cast,a great look, and a decent metal/techno soundtrack. The story is about four friends who get into a car accident. Some survived while others did not. But who really survived? That is the question. Poor editing is what is at fault here. Director Steve Carpenter decided to bypass important elements such plot and character development in order to get to the scenes where Cassie is being chased by two maniacs, only to turn around and see nobody there. It is never discovered who the two men really were or why they were important. The funeral scene is treated like an afterthought, and the movie's opening scene doesn't make any sense. The DVD packaging is just as confusing. There are two deleted scenes which would have actually helped the movie. There is a limp four minute "making of" featurette. Also on this DVD, (though I will never understand why) is something called Living Dangerously-The Art of Harvey Danger. Apparently this band had one song on the soundtrack, but they are given an interview which lasts an astounding 25+minutes. It lasts longer than all the other promo stuff combined! Despite all this, the DVD does have some redeeming value. The sound is good and the picture is incredible. The colors are vibrant and the cinematography captures a real goth tone. Unfortunately, the movie never pulls it together and the ending is a copout. A missed opportunity.

Summary: Skip it
Review: I learned a valuable lesson after purchasing this movie. I am never going to buy another movie again unless I've seen it, or have gotten great recommendations from my friends. I bought Soul Survivors: The Killer Cut before I even watched it mainly because it stars Eliza Dushku, who has co-starred in my all time favorite television show, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'. I was expecting this film to be released nation wide in theaters, but for some odd reason, it never was. Now I know why. It's because this movie bites!!

The movie actually has a nice plot, but it is tragically mishandeled. One night when coming home from a rave, Cassie and her friends get into a brutal car accident. Everyone but one seems to make it out alive. Or did they? Soul Survivors is a very twisted movie, and I had trouble keeping up with it through the course of the film. There's nothing wrong with a movie full of surprises and twists, but this film weakly delivers them, and they confuse the viewer more than it does surprising them.

This film is from the producers of 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' and 'Urban Legend,' but it fails miserably at landing on the same level in quality. The only highlight of this movie is the character played by Eliza Dushku. She provides the few and far between scenes that are actually enjoyable and worthwhile.

Overall, the movie could have been improved greatly. It managed to score a pretty impressive cast, but they're shamefully misdirected. They did the best at what they were given. This movie is extremely forgettable, and hard to understand. The DVD however includes some great extras. But they're not of any use unless you actually like the film, which would be hard to believe. If you did like it though, then you'd be very happy with the extras on this DVD. The only good thing I got out of this purchase was a pretty art cover case! I tell ya, false advertising these days . . .

Summary: GOOD SCIFI/FANTASY, THRILLER, MYSTERY MOVIE!
Review: I know people gave this movie bad reviews. But I would like to say that I think the movie is good. Sure it is not a Scream movie, but for a suspense movie, it works. The people in the movie are Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, Eliza Dushku, Angela Featherstone, Melissa Sagemiller, and Luke Wilson. This ORIGINAL movie that was shown in theaters was rated PG-13. That had Violence/terror Language and Sexuality. There is one that us the KILLER CUT version. That is the one you can buy. That is rated R. That has in it Violence/Terror Heavy Sexuality, And language. It has some Nudity. And adult situations. It is not for children under 13 or 14. I gave the movie 4 out of 5 stars for only 1 reason. The ending was a little difficult to understand. Other then that the movie was good. I would put this movie under SCIFI/Fantasy, Thriller, Mystery. This movie was not a horror movie. So enjoy and watch the show!

Summary: Not bad, but a bit boring
Review: Not a bad movie, but a bit boring. Eliza Dushku looks great, but unfortunately doesn't have all that much screen time.

Summary: Almost worthless........ this film stinks
Review: Im a horror fan. Halloween, The Thing, Scream, Christine, I know what you did last summer, Alien, Urban Legend....... im all over all types of horror films. Soul Survivors is barely above aweful. It made little sense to me. After the movie was over I wasnt sure if the lead character was just dreaming the whole thing or not. Yes folks, it one of those "it was just a dream" films that we all hate. You know what im taking about. We are tricked into thinking these things are really happening when they are just someones dream. And if the film wasnt someones dream it wasnt all that scary anyways. Dont waste your time. Besides a SUPER HOT CHICK (the brunette) I hated every second of Soul Survivors.

Summary: piece of ...
Review: without wanting to complain to much i will say one good thing about this movie, it ended! after a stupidly unoriginal plot and absolutly no scares at all. if you at all like a movie with intelligence and any thrills at all don't see this movie, stick to the basics like maybe silence of the lambs, or if you like slashers, which this one was trying to be and failed, see a classic like nightmere on elm street. but whatever you do stay away from this piece of ....

Summary: Soul Distroyer
Review: Soul Survivors has only one thing going for it and thats Elisa Dushku of Buffy fame, its not scary, tense or remotely interesting. Granted for guys Elisas (clothed) shower scene and lesbien kiss scene might peak the interest for, oh, two seconds.

Director Stephen Carpenter deserves some credit though not many directors can make you want want to sue them for the 80 minutes of mental strees they've caused you. The disc itself isnt too bad though as it acts like a machine cleaner once this has gone through your player everything else is Oscar worthy.

I guess this move will find its market i.e. people whove been labotonized. Thank God I only rented this. You've been warned!!!!
