Summary: Okay, Now Wait a Second...
Review: Now, let's see... we've had Jason, we've had Jason's mom, we've had Jason in a bag, we've had Jason in 3-D, we've had Jason dead, several times, we've had Jason's ashes, and now we have Jason in Manhattan. Now we should be thanking the Lord that directors have thrown in some humor in recent releases preceding this one, but there really isn't any here, which makes it all the more, let's say, stupid. Now I know a couple of people myself who would watch a movie with no plot just to see a couple of people diced like Mexican tomatoes, and that's really what this movie is all about. The anti-plot, we'll call it, is that Jason Voorhees, the incredibly ugly and incredibly stupid bad guy (or maybe we should say hero?) with a knack for not dying, is making his way to Manhattan to kill a couple peeps. Basically, the movie isn't worth the buck it costs to rent.

Review: This has got to be the worst film ever made in the history of film. How this guy was given the green light to make this movie, I'll never understand. This is an Alan Smithee case if I ever saw one. But, ironically, I find this one of the most enjoyable in the series because of this. Being that this movie is so rotten, it's one of the most amusing and hilarious films I have ever seen. It is the perfect Mystery Science Theater party movie. Jason is(naturally) brought back to life(by electricity again. Who thought of this juvenile idea anyway? What is he, Frankenstein's monster?), and slaughters everyone on the boat. He may have been on the boat only an hour or two, but he knows the layout better than everyone else. He manages to teleport himself everywhere. He's huge, black, slimy, wears a hockey mask(not exactly a low profile), and manages to stroll about the ship without anyone noticing him. When they get to the Big Apple, does Jason go beserk and murder everyone? Nope, for some unknown reason he only goes after the surviving crew members who can't seem to shake Jason even in a city the size of New York(all you'd need to do is get in a cab and say "take me to the other side of town", and you'd lose Jason forever.). Of course they all roam about the alleys and side streets instead of staying out in the open. Jason also knows the layout of New York City as though he were a native. And what's with this stupid psychic link between the leading lady and Jason? Ever notice when a horror series goes on for awhile, they throw that stupid, unscary psychic angle in? Halloween 5 for example. The most unbelievable thing in this movie is when the two survivors run into the sewer. If you were being chased by Jason, would you run to a friggin' sewer? They meet a sewer worker who informs them(and I am not kidding here!) that the sewers fill with toxic waste at midnight. Maybe this is true in the New York sewer system, but I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. Jason's unmasked and he's in much better shape than the previous movie. In fact, he looks about as scary as Steve from Blue's Clues. Jason's "death" defies any kind of rational explanation. There had to have been some serious drugs used by the filmmakers to come up with that crap, and even more serious drugs consumed by whoever agreed that it was a good idea. Watch this one folks, it's funnier than any intentional comedy out there.

Review: I'm not lying that this is better than any of the past films, and I'm also not lying when I say that I really like this movie, and the only Jason film to match this is Jason X. Kane Hodder returns to play the homicidal maniac Jason Voorhees, who climbs onto a ship called the Lazarus, and it is full of graduating High School teenagers and teachers bound for New York. Jason gets a new mask, and I'd have to say it's about time, but I think that Jason got a new mask in Jason Lives, because it wasn't as damaged as the mask in The Final Chapter. Anyway, I think Kane does an excellent job as Jason Voorhees, and this is actually his second time playing him, his first time was in the previous F-13 movie: The New Blood. There's something I don't get...if Jason gets a new mask in this (which he does), how in the world could it have the axe mark from part 3, unless maybe it was damaged before Jason got a hold of it. Oh, and by the way, Jason does NOT get a hold hockey mask, the one he has is off-white, but his mask is chrome in Jason Goes to Hell. The supporting cast is okay, but the girl who played Tamara Mason was NOT sexy. Jensen Dagget did a good job as Rennie, Scott Reeves was good as Sean, Peter Mark Richman was splendid as Rennie's overprotective uncle Charles McCulloch, and, as you expect, the magnificent Kane Hodder as Jason was truly creepy, because he did everything slowly, and not quick like the previous movies, however, The New Blood was probably the scariest of them all because almost ALL of it took place at night, and you could actually see some of Jason's bones. The mask is like the one in part 6, only it has been more damaged: the axe mark is wider and there is a huge chunk of the lower left side missing. The music wasn't all that great, though, they should have hired Harry Manfredini again, but the music in this will just have to do unless they decide to re-do it. And, you know, it would be really nice to see a Jason movie that actually plays Drowning Pool's "Bodies" sometime, or any Jason movie that had some heavy metal in it for a change, and what would be more fitting than Jason X, but oh well, maybe next time. So, overall, Jason Takes Manhattan is a definite keeper for me, it [took] me straight it, and it will you too. So, take a couple hours from your day to day life and just have fun, watch it.

Summary: Sort of disappointing, unfortunately...
Review: I bought this video a couple of months back on a total whim; Jason X was on its way to the cinema and I thought I'd better catch up with the saga so far. Big mistake! It certainly does feature a lot of Mr Vorhees (which is always good) but the murders are goreless and boring, and the acting is tedious. Only one bit really sticks in my mind (**POTENTIAL SPOILER**) and thats when Jason reaches New York (actually Toronto) and comes face-to-face with a giant poster of the hockey team with his masked face on it! Pretty groovy, but only for, like, three seconds.
If you want gore from a Friday the 13th film, try Jason Lives or The Final Friday (but only the Unrated version) and if you want good plotting and suspense, just stick with the original. If you want all out fun, just go for the newest one, Jason X, which is out to buy from 8 October. That's pretty much all I can say about this one - but give it a go if you want, just don't expect great things.

Summary: My Favorate Friday The 13th
Review: A lot of people do not think that this movie was not good...but I did. I thought it was original and there was a lot of killings. Kane Hodder is the best Jason ever. I suggest you rent this first if your unsure so if you like it then buy it! Hopefully they will come out with a boxset when the rest of them come out on DVD.

Summary: THE WORST SEQUEL IN THE FILM SERIES
Review: Well, well, well. I had my breakfast today and went out to get this DVD alongside Friday the 13th Part7 - The New Blood on DVD as well and the results are just way too disappointing. With all the promotions, the advertising, the tv, teaser and theatrical trailers for this film, this film was sheer evidence that Jason has lost his prime when this film was theatrically released on Friday July 28, 1989. This film was a flop at the boxoffice, was a complete downer for the film series and left theatres after only 10 days of release. This film was also the last outing for Paramount Pictures as theysold the rights for the films' franchise to New Line Cinema in 1991. The story is basically simple. Jason who comes back to life with 2,000 volts of underwater cable attacks a couple on a boat, then follows a group of campers on a boat cruise to New York City. Writer and director Rob Hedden keeps things at a smails pace here. He tries to do something diefferent with the series, after complaints of "it's all the same", but we know that "different" for a horror series hardly never works. This film is sheer evidence of that. This film is very bad from beginning to end. The music score by Fred Mollin is so awful, no wonder why series musicman Harry Manfredini sat out on this one. The Jason look in this film is so bad, even Jason would scream at the sight of his own ugly face here. The special effects and gore effects are all awful, cheap and shoddy for horror standards. Most of this film takes place on the cruise ship and only the last half hour takes place in NYC. There are some shots of NYC in the film but most of the NYC sequences in this film are all shots of Vancouver East, BC. I very much hated this sequel and this is defintely not a film for fans of the film series or of the genre. Critics were the only ones I know that liked this film. Could I saythat the acting is bad in this film too or am I giving away too much already ??? This film for the first time is presented in widescreen (1.85:1) format with Dolby 2.0 Surround Sound. Both picture and sound quality for this film are both just fine. The DVD cover art, menu board and all are just completely awful. Should have stuck with the original artwork guys or even the teaser poster would have made a great DVD cover. As for extras - this is something that does not exist in Paramount's vocabulary. There are no extras here. Just the film on widescreen and that is it. ANother disappointment but why should this surprise me coming from Paramount Pictures and it is their 90th Anniversary too. Such a shame. This film is a have for Friday fans, I guess, but I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone. I give this film no stars, no nothing as this film, in my opinion, is the worst sequel in film history, next to Exorcist II, The Heretic.

Review: This film has an incoherent plot seemingly unrelated to any of the previous Fridays. It is mindless, and not in the humorous way that you might find in some other "bad" horror movies. It is just a dull sort of mindlessness. The movie is not so bad to be unwatchable, but it's still a waste of time.
