Review: The Craft is a solid, yet still somewhat predictable thriller, that tried to ride the surging horror wave started by Scream. Sarah Baily (Robin Tunney) has always felt like an outsider all her life. So, when she and her Dad (Cliff De Young) move to a new town, she finds herself having to start fresh. As the new gal at St. Benedict's Academy, she immediately falls in with the high school's female misfits. But, this group of girls won't settle for being just powerless outcasts, that nobody wants to hang out with. Indeed, Nancy, (Fairuza Balk) Bonnie, (Neve Campbell), and Rochelle (Rachel True) have discovered just how much fun school can be if you have the skills to use "The Craft" and they plan to show Sarah the way. Director and co scripter Andrew Fleming plays things pretty safe throughout the film. The tried and true horror formula isn't tested that much. Young and trendy stars populate the cast, with moments of humor and a few jolts, thrown in for good measure. The breakout performance for me here is Balk's sassy Nancy. She is one tough witch you don't want to mess with. She helps make the film better than it would be otherwise. As with any film about the wicken way, there's also a certain female "bonding" subtext that has to play itself out, as well. The special edition DVD substitutes for the movie only edition from awhile back. The audio commentary from Fleming is a nice mix of the tecnical and on set trivia about the film. There are two making Of featurettes on the disc. The first,is a six minute EPK style prepublicity kind of thing, while the second is a 24 minute retrospective, produced for the DVD. Conjuring THE CRAFT features "new" interviews with Fleming, Robin Tunny, Rachel True among others, intermixed with on set comments from Balk and Campbell. This is well produced. Fleming provides commentary for the deleted footage that, doesn't really amount to much as far as the final version is concerned The entire film score from Greame Revell is preserved and given its due as an isolated music track. Talent files, as well as, theatrical trailers for The Craft, among other films top off the bonus material on the disc. Addtional production notes can be found inside the keep case. The Craft is worth a dabble, with a *** and a half star rating, as long as your expectations are kept in check.

Summary: The Craft (1996)
Review: No matter how many times I see this movie, I still find it hard to resist. This is the movie that made me a fan of Neve Campbell's. The creators decided to make a film where witches are no longer old hags. They decided to make a film where witches are high school teenage girls.
Robin Tunney is in the role of Sarah, a teenage witch who has had a hard life. She is moving to L.A. with her father and his girlfriend, Jenny. In her first day of school, a catholic school I might add, Sarah meets and befriends three other witches: Nancy (played by Fairuza Balk), Bonnie (played by the sexy Neve Campbell), and Rachelle (played by Rachel True). The four form a coven and promise to be friends forever, until one night, Nancy surrenders to the higher power by envoking the spirit, which drives her to insanity, causing her to ruin their friendship with Sarah. Now Sarah must confront her former friends by envoking the spirit and proving that she is strong, just like her mother, who died while giving birth, not to mention, who was also a witch. Some people said that this was a cheesy film. Again, those people have proven themselves to be brain dead. They wouldn't know a good movie, even if it bit them on the ... This is a great film. It's a movie that will definitely "cast a spell on you".

Summary: Girl Power
Review: "The Craft" is a silly movie about four teenage girls who are into goth, darkness and witchcraft. They`re mysterious, edgy and hip, know what they want and how to get there, so beware. As the story unfolds, the more childish and ridiculous it gets, presenting teen rebellion in an obvious and over-the-top way. It even has a dated soundtrack with some mid-90`s alternative rock bands, and it`s not very good either. The characters aren`t menacing or interesting, so why should we care? Probably some 13 year old girls will like this, though. Otherwise, it`s just a powerless craft.

Summary: It's not real people
Review: Ok as a practising druid, I have a few things to say to the "It's not accurate" people. Wicca isn't the only pagan religion out there and they never mentioned wicca, what they said reflects much of the pagan (not wiccan) ethos. It's a film about witchcraft and teen alienation. Some reviewer complained about the crosses. It's a goth uniform people, the characters (especially Nancy) were goths and that is what they wear. I don't believe in the threefold law, I do believe that what you send out comes back, but I don't believe it multiplies by 3. Paganism/wicca/witchcraft has many branches of the same trunk and it's stupid to say "It's not Wicca!" They weren't making a serious Wiccan film.

Summary: Great Show!!!
Review: Great storytelling and different plot. I wish teen movies were still like this. Girls get magical powers and anything they want they get, but drama comes with it.I guess the magic is Wicca but I am not sure, The special effects are great, the levatation, and morphing scenes are very good. Very funny and spooky. Watch with some popcorn and enjoy.

Review: It is an accurate statement that the followers of witchcraft do not usually proselytize, which means you aren't going to find us standing on your local street corner. Nor do you have to worry about jumping out of the shower to answer the door. But just because they aren't the foreible type doesn't mean that they don't exist. Trying to find them, though, can sometimes be tricky. Which is part of the fun. Witchcraft is definitely an enjoyable practice. There is no fear, no hatred, no cowering at Divinity. Each of us has the right to enjoy all that the Universe has to provide.
My point is that these people in the movie can take the real world and superimpose upon it the world of illusion, in order to either fix or prevent many of life's difficulties-or even better, create happiness and well being for themselves and others. Witchcraft is a natural and practical aspect of being. If followed properly, it doesn't hurt anybody, and can help many. It meshes easily with the cycles of the Universe. On the
otherhand, if not followed properly, then you will be punishsed at the end just like the character, "Nancy".
An unelighted individual will tell you that the bulk of witches in our society are people who seek solace in a specialized group which relates better to fantasy than to reality...societies reality. There are three words in our language that come to mind that mean something different to everyone. They are "LOVE", "Happiness", and "Divinity". There are many more. But, what is right for you may not be right for someone else. Therefore, it is necessary that your "truth" conform to anyone else's. Conversely, one cannot be expect the world to conform to your truths, either.
It is my personal opinion that most people are attracted to the Craft not by its religious content, but by its scientific and technological allure. Examples of the science in the Craft are telepathy, spell casting, divination, astral travel, dowsing, etc. The outside world is more likely to hear and become interested in a new technological of the Craft because it appears to be less threatening in nature than a new religious structure that is different from their owm. Well. what can i say? Besides, the movie was okay but there could have been a little bit more action in terms of witchcraft.Basically, the choice is yours because not everybody thinks the same way. Everybody has there own oppoion about good
witchcraft movies.

Summary: Wonderful - one of my favorites!
Review: This film is a gorgeous one and one of the first including some Wiccan-Rites and a better (but modified) view on today's Paganism.
The film was under custodianship by Patt Devin, a High Priestess of the Covenant of the Goddess. She and Fairuza Balk (acting "Nancy Downs" in this film) are practising Witches of "The Craft" (Term used to refer to Wicca and Witchcraft) and were helping a lot on the set, told much of Wiccan Rituals and Gods and Goddesses. In the cutting scenes (watching the gorgeous EXTRAS) you'll find a scene, in which Robin Tunney is invocing a healing Goddess!
For Wiccans a very interesting film and for all those, who're interested in films including witchcraft, which is not shown as EVIL or something, which has to to with Satan. Blessed be

Summary: Fairuza Balk deserves more credit!
Review: Fairuza Balk made this movie great. If it wasn't for her, i probably wouldn't have liked it nearly as much. She's an amazing actress. And she was definitly perfect for this role. There is something about that beauty of hers that is kinda of dark and creepy, but in a good way. She is the only "witch" out of the group that sort of makes it look real.
Overall the movie is good, definitly worth a watch!

Summary: LOVE this movie!
Review: I'm not giving a summary because hundreds have already. What I will say is that this movie is GREAT! It's just dark and fun in an intriguing, supernatural way. Fairuza Balk without a doubt made the movie...she is an under rated INCREDIBLE actress. She just has that piercing presence/beauty that just fit all to perfectly. Robin Tunney I could take or leave...she kind of gives me a weird vibe. But to be honest, the more I watch the movie the more she does grow on me. Neve was dam good...thought she gave an excellent performance and fit in the movie very well. Rachel True I could take or leave also, her character wasn't developed right...they could have done a much better job with her. But overall this is a movie I can watch OVER and OVER!
