Summary: Starts well--then goes down the drain
Review: The first 30 minutes of this film are great, though some of the language was unnecessary. A brother and sister are driving home from college when they are nearly run off the road. Later, they see the same guy dumping something down an old drain pipe. They are chased again. The movie could have ended here, and it would have been much better than the next 60 minutes of contrivances. Not to mention the worst plot twist in recent years.

Summary: Jeepers Creepers- You Won't Believe Your Peepers
Review: Recently I went to see Jeepers Creepers, the latest in the inundating wave of teen-horror flicks. Whatever happened to Carrie or Halloween, two movies that actually offered a little more than post-pubescent boys and girls prefacing their every thought with "like", and "no duh"? I read one reviewer's comment, where he admitted that, "the plot was a bit flimsy". Excuse me, could you refresh my memory, what is the plot?
The movie starts with a mildly interesting introduction, where they are repeatedly frightened by a speeding truck, just slightly reminiscent of Spielberg's "The Duel". Passing by, they notice the hooded figure placing wrapped-up bodies down a hole. Our two heroes decide to return and investigate. As the boy peers down the hole, the girl reminds him of all those stupid scary movies where people do something really stupid, and, like, get chopped up to bite-size morsels. Stupid movies, huh? At least she has something figured out. Later in the movie, we encounter a woman who has dreams about the future, and clues them in by singing an old 20's song named in fact, Jeepers Creepers. Wow. If that's supposed to be creepy, my mom's oldies tapes are mind-numbingly scary. In the middle of the movie, a change occurs, switching the tone from a mysterious Southern landscape to a full-fledged gore fest. We discover the real monster, which I happily rechristened Butterfly Boy, who you would normally expect from Wes Craven, not Victor Salva, the crafty director of Powder, a movie that blends moving scenes with suspenseful situations.
Sincerely, I would rather go see American Pie, which by comparison is a brilliant story about loving teens. I really hope the making of this movie was a sick joke, and that anyone who liked this go see all the Urban Legends and Screams, because I believe they will truly have, like, a totally ... time.

Summary: From thrilling to ...
Review: Why is everyone rating this 5 stars?

The film started out brilliantly, and though I'm usually jaded with movies like this I was truly SCARED during the first half hour. Just from the abandoned church scene and "psycho truck" scene I felt like I got my money's worth (maybe) and the overall rating would then be 3 stars if it DIDN'T DETERIORATE INTO MINDLESS ... and an ending that was so ridiculous and insulting to the audience that no one even groaned--everyone had sort of a confused look, not wanting to believe the movie treated them as it, unfortunately, did. Pretty good acting and a a suspenseful intro aren't capable of redeeming this slop.

Summary: Formulaic
Review: Go ahead, back away all you horror flick lovers. First, I must confess I am NOT a horror or scary movie fan. But the reviews on this looked good, so, since my other half was out of town (she won't go to these) I thought I'd break my rules (don't spend money on horror flicks) and check it out. I should have followed the rules. This seemed very VERY formulaic to me. The beginning was cast from a worn out mold. The monster was low budget, the scary scenes didn't rev my motor and I kept waiting for some good sounds to bring the scary parts to life. On the other hand, I have a feeling that my 17 year old son, who loves this kind of flick would enjoy it, perhaps precisely for the same reasons I found it disappointing. I do like good fantasy and science fiction stories, creatively done. But I just didn't see much creativity in this one. But it does follow the pattern for horror flicks, so if you've watched every release of Halloween and the other series of horror stories, this might be the first in a chain of movies named after old songs.
Who knows? The next one might be titled The Purple People Eater.

Summary: Refreshing Horror
Review: When I first saw the preview of this film I was immediately hooked. I knew this had to be the horror movie that would break the chain of crappy horror flicks that have been coming out lately. After watching the movie with some friends I was right. The monster in the film is very imaginative and a welcome change of pace from just a guy wearing a mask. The overall movie is very suspenseful too. So, if you've got nothing better to do you'll definetly want to check this one out.

Summary: scary movie 3
Review: This flick was one of the funniest movies I have seen this summer! I wasnt expecting much from it, but boy was I wrong. The acting was just superb. I expect big things from the two stars who played the young lovers in the film. If they gave out an Oscar for Best Screaming Actor and Actress, they would win hands down. There was just two many funny scenes to mention, but one in particular was when the demon/big cowboy guy was chasing the two stars. Instead of running like normal people, the siblings decided to just stand there and wait for monster! I guess the director wanted to show the characters' courage and courtesy. It was all just too funny to watch. And dont get me wrong, there were some pretty scary scenes. Some made me wake up from my slumber and made me jump out of my seat and grab the person sitting next to me (Here, I must apologize again to the old madame. I am sorry!). But in all, I had a great time, although I think Scary Movie 3 would have been a better title. I recommend this movie to everyone, except those under 98 (it's rated R). I simply cant wait for the sequel!

Summary: Don't waste the time or money, wait for the video
Review: I must say, I don't know what film the earlier reviews of this film are REALLY for, but definitely not Jeepers Creepers!

Search as hard as you might, I doubt you will find a plot....anywhere!

The main characters have the survival instincts of a doorknob (Rose on "The Golden Girls" has more common sense), and prefer to wait for the "creature" to finish killing/eating its victim before trying to escape or kill it. The "creature" is NEVER explained. All you get is a "psychic" saying it feeds for 23 days every 23 years, basically for spare body parts. That's IT! No other background, and apparently SHE is the only living soul to know it exists. Visually, you would expect it to be a villain from Scooby Do, since the costume and make up effects are so sub-par that it looks like they utilised a Halloween shop, and a cheap one at that.

Even after the dramatic police station scene, there is a cut to the next morning, and everyone seems to have experienced nothing more traumatic than a paper cut!

It's small wonder that it has a virtually unknown cast (though Eileen Brennan's cameo was it's one bright spot), no respectable actor, after reading the script, would have lent their name to it.

Jeepers Creepers should have been direct-to-video, if that. Imagine the worst elements of the worst films you've seen in the horror genre, rolled into one production, and you have this film!

Summary: The worst movie of the year...
Review: I usually don't write review's, but this movie was so bad, I felt compelled to write one. There was absolutely no direction taken in this movie. It was a weak attempt to simulate the success of of Scream, I know what you did Last Summer, etc. Get real, try something new... The directors attempted to make one of the main characters a hero (by wanting to go back to the pipe...) Yeah write, he was a WUS. I completely missed the weak attempts of horror satire in this movie b/c well, for lack of better words it was just plain stupid. (However, there was one and only one attempt that was funny... the part before the leading actress drops her brother down the pipe... go sis!)

The only part of this movie that was worth anything was the ending, for 2 reasons... One being that this horrible movie was finally over, and the other, well... Just incase you really must see a stupid movie, then wait till it goes to the dollar theater or rent it. It will probably be available at your local blockbuster in a couple of weeks anyways.

Don't waist your money on this movie at the real theaters.

Summary: Tragic
Review: What a freakin' let down. The first half of Jeepers Creepers is stylish and smart, despite the indulgent self-referencing "this is the part in scary movies when..." Once the "monster" or whatever it is enters the picture as such, though, all terror vanishes as the makers of this film seem to have hit a wall with the story. Granted, the gruesome end is disturbing, but that is partially because it is so arbitrary. As the credits began to roll my friend and I looked at each other as if to say "What?" We weren't alone. The audience booed loudly, and as we exited the theatre the guy in front of us looked blankly at his friend and simply said, "That (...)." That pretty much sums it up.
