Review: A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET is I feel one great and scary movie out there today. I have allways like the way Wes Craven kept FREDDY in the shadows,plus I liked the dark setting,unlike parts 3 thru 6,number 7 was great and went back to its roots. I'm not saying I didn't like the rest but I feel they would have done better if they kept him in the shadows instead of cracking one-liners,and I agree with one reviewer that in the sequals they(except for #2) the make-up people lightened up his burned skin when they should have kept it dark and give it that burned look. other than that I highly recommened this movie.

Summary: The one!The only!The original!
Review: Surreal as it is scary,this one will keep you on the edge.Make no mistake the first is always the best.Ignore the campy sequels(well Wes Craven's New Nightmare was good but more of a psychological thriller with fantasy elements than anything). The shocker ending is a little strange but totally unexpected,much like Jason popping up out of Crystal Lake at the end of the orignal F-13th(not so good,but Besty Palmer shines as the murderously vindictive Mrs.Voorhees!). This movie ushered in a new era of scary movies.Worth multiple rentals.

Review: this movie rocks! not quite as good as halloween but hey I own 2 copies (dont ask) and every horror buff should have atleast 1. the effects are so awesome, better than some stuff today! ceiling scene is classic. oh and my favorite conversation in horror movie history between johnny depp and his mom, depp's sittin with his headfones on watchin tv, his mom comes in and sez: your watching tv with headfones on?" he sez "ya, ms. nude america's gonna be on." she sez, "well how r u gonna hear what she'll say?" he sez" who cares what she sez?"

Summary: I loved this movie!
Review: Wes Craven etched his self a spot in the horror movie hall of fame with this one. It is about 4 teens who are stalked in their dreams by a burnt up old man. As they begin to die off one by one Nancy ( the films female hero) finds out from her mom that that the parents of elm street burned a man by the name of Freddy Krueger in his own boiler room for Kidnapping and sexually abusing some kids. This movie has everything a scary movie should Scares, Atmosphere, and the occasional blood drenched death. So Ill sum up this review with 3 words.WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Summary: Not bad,but way too overrated
Review: Spoilers ahead.Read carefully. This movie isn't bad,but it's far too overrated and to call it a masterpiece is over the top.The movie has so many interesting and neat concepts. The idea of a child murderer badly disfigured, wearing a dirty red and green striped sweater,a dirty round hat and armed with a glove with four razors attached possessing the power to enter your dreams and if he defeats you your dead for real,is a wonderfully original and extremely imaginative idea.The same can't be said for how terrible the execution is.I didn't like the fact that Freddy was only in this for like 10 minutes. Hanging around with Nancy and her friends got so boring that I was just waiting for Freddy to kill them.I was REALLY annoyed that Freddy's face was always shadowed in the darkness.It was virtually impossible to see his face.The special F/X are very poor.Glen's death (the infamous "Bed Of Blood" death) is very cool,but looks laughably fake.The death scenes are imaginative, but weren't all that great.The death toll is way too low.The plot moves at a very slow pace and halfway I almost fell asleep.Most of the film has Nancy arguing with her mother.That's no fun.Seeing a mother and daughter argue in a horror movie.The ending is incredibly lousy too.The film however, has some redeeming qualities.Robert Englund's performance as Freddy,although disappointingly short,is very devilish.The death scenes are very fake,but are imaginative.The plot sounded neat (but had horrible execution) and well,that's about it.Overall,Nightmare On Elm Street 1 isn't a bad effort,but it could've been so much better.It's way too overrated and it isn't a masterpiece like people say it is.It's worth renting,but I can't see spending hard-earned cash on this.Rated R for gory horror violence,strong language and brief nudity.

Summary: One of my favorite horror films ever!
Review: Think for a moment how popular the title itself is. Its a classic title. One of the most classical horror titles in modern-horror cinema. Here, we are offered tons of bloody special effects which are always going to be effective. And Freddy is obviously one of the screen's most popular villains ever. Still Wes Craven's best work.

Summary: The first *creative* horror.
Review: This was a true innovation that changed the face of horror as we know it. I don't think anyone can forget the first time they saw Freddy's face. Although I was only about a year old when this movie came out, I can still appreciate it. After all, the only good horror came from the late 70's and the 80's (with the exception of a few good 90's (a few) It makes me wonder though how Wes Craven could go from this to selling out to the teeny bopper crowd with Scream. The best part of this movie is when Nancy's boyfriend gets sucked into his bed and then a huge rush of blood floods his room. That had to have been one of the most creepy things I had ever seen. Also, the first killing scene was awesome too. Maybe not as bloody as its sequels, but never-the-less, the BEST in it's series.

Review: Well what can I say, the director is Wes Craven. He has made a real horror jem with this movie. The ideas are so original and chilling. This movie does not scare me in the daytime. But come nightfall its a different story. One of the best horror movies around. Another masterpiece from Wes Craven. Excellent movie...I reccommend it!

Review: this movie isn't as scary as everybody says but it is very original and for those people who get scared easily I suggest that you don't watch this because it could keep you up for days. it is a very freaky movie. Very original movie with some bad acting, and very unreal dialogue. it's fun though

Review: a nightmare on elm street is a well organized horror movie about a burnt killer killing young teenagers in there dreams,this film could be funny to people but to others very frighting and shoundt be shown to a person any younger then the age of 18,if you liked this movie you should then watch wes craven's new nightmare.
