Summary: My idea of a perfect horror movie
Review: Original, hip, witty, thrilling, and very very scary, this is my idea of the perfect horror movie. It's the archetype for good chills, with a brilliant cast to boot. Courtney Cox was brilliant as Gale Weathers (so much for typecasting!), and the rest of the cast put up a startling original performance. It might be a bit sad that the only place left for horror movies to go is self-ridicule (then again, the Blair Witch Project might set new standards), but if Scream is the future, the future is very bright indeed. Or should I say very dark. Well-conceived, sharply-written, cleverly-executed cinema. Loved it.

Summary: Puhleeeze!!
Review: The ending was cheesy and I think the killers should have killed Neve just for her "not in my movie" quip. At the risk of sounding like a bore I have to piont out that anyone that riddled with bulletholes and stab wounds (I'm talking about Billy) is not going to get up again. I didn't find this movie scary, only cheesy. Not only was it improbable, but obvious. The second one is even worse.

Summary: Trend-setting Masterpiece
Review: The masterminds of Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson created a masterpiece with the '96 film, "Scream." Not only did "Scream" bring back a demand for horror films, but it also started a trend that brought teenage related movies back into the theatres. "Scream" was obvious to do well with a pair of creators as Wes Craven, an expert in horror ("Nightmare on Elm Street" series), and Kevin Williamson, an expert on teenagers ("Dawson's Creek"). Shortly after "Scream" was released, such teenage films as "The Faculty," "I Know What You Did Last Summer," its sequel, and "Urban Legends" were released. They did well, because "Scream" put teenage horror films into high demand, and brought on the need for such prominent young actors, such as Neve Campbell, who plays the heroine, Sidney, in "Scream." Neve Campbell was a wise choice for the role because of her innocence, looks, and the powerful karma in which she presents herself. Her role as Sidneyis to play the killer's main target; the reason discovered later as the facts learned throughout the film are brilliantly tied together. Matthew Lillard's character, Stew, provides exceptional comic relief throughout the film, his girlfriend Taitum (Rose McGowan) supplies clever sarcasm, and David Arquette plays the police officer, Dewey, that no one takes seriously "because of his boyish good looks." The aspects of humor and horror are two popular reasons people attend films; by mixing the two , the reason to see "Scream" doubles. The biggest name in the film is Drew Barrymore, who appears in a short role, because of the film's low budget, as Casey Becker. The film brings in one semi-big name, Courtney Cox, known well for her work on the situation comedy, "Friends." She plays the egotistical, sassy, and funny news reporter, Gale Weathers. "Scream" brought most of the films' stars into more fame because of its wisely selected cast that works exceptionally well toghether in a film never to be forgotten.

Summary: Terrific, but not a suprise
Review: While "Scream" is one of my favorite movies, the ending didn't suprise me. My husband and I went to see the movie and before it was half over I knew who the killer was; he said that I was full of it. Suprise, Suprise ... I did the same thing in "Scream 2." "Scream" is wonderfully produced and written , but I would have like to have been suprised. I believe that the actors and actresses portrayed their characters wonderfully. To sum it up... if you haven't seen it, rent it or buy it like I did. Enjoy!

Summary: Predictable but fun to watch anyway.
Review: Anyone who is willing to think about it can pretty much figure out what is going to happen next, although the end is a little less predictable. I wouldn't call Scream "the best movie of the century" by any means, but it is still an enjoyable movie to watch.
