Summary: Better than the other sequels, BUT still not the Originals!
Review: I am a horror fan, and I liked Friday the 13th and "Nightmare" and this film was the merging of two big companies. It didn't terrify me in any sense, but I did love the dark moody scenery and the frequent nostalgia from the two movies villains. The film did have too much nudity, and I think that the director could have upped the scare factor. The acting from the younger cast was not very impressive, but Robert Englund was wonderful, and whoever revived Jason Voorhees made him more brutal and impersonall. The fight scenes were very cool, (reminding me of King Kong and the T-Rex fight in King Kong.) The movie, when blended together was only average and did a very half attempted job. If you are a horror fan, or a Freddy/Jason groupie see the movie, and if this isn't your taste I recommend the other horror films of 2003 which included The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

Review: If you like slasher films than this one does not dissapoint. It is full of blood and teenagers getting slashed. What is best is that it is the two biggest icons of 'slash' battling each other. The story line is actually pretty good. Compared to usual slasher scripts.

If you think slasher movies are dumb, then why are you reading this? Don't write a review saying it was cheesy, corny, not scary, or dumb at all. This is a slasher film! Slasher films have always been, and always will be, full of cheesy acting, lame scripts, and lots and lots of blood!!!

Gear up blood fans, this one is awsome!

Review: Like Jason X, this crappy ass movie bites the big one. Why can't people make good horror films anymore? I mean, if some of you knew real horror, you wouldn't even watch this crap. Don't waste your time. This is pathetic.

Review: Here we have Freddy, who needs the children to fear him again so he can have his powers back. What does he do? He brings back Jason. The story is kind of weak, but then again who really watches these movies for the story. Bottom line is its fun. You get to see two horror icons go head to head against each other in a film I would call more of an action-with a little horror-type film that delivers. I only wish that Freddy and Jason would have battled a little longer.

Review: Right from it's playfully sexy opening sceen you know that this movie dose not take it self too suriously. Freddy is too weak to kill kids, so he uses Jason to stir up scares on Elm Street. Ronny Yu creates a heavy-weight bout atmosphare when the child shasher meets the goalie/killer in a cabin at Camp Cystal Lake. The film is an orgy of fake, gushing blood and bad acting(Kelly Rolan and the girl from Dawson's Creek). The thing I like most about the flim was the ending. You get to guess what happened and will happen to franchizes. You know there will de a sequell. After about 20 "Nightmares" and "Fridays" put together, something tells me the fight is not over.
Comments on the DVD: Ronny Yu should have gone with the other opening sceen. If you love classic horror, blood, and gore, rent this one (not TMC). Watch it without the kids.

Summary: Absolutely Horrible!!!!!
Review: This long awaited confrontation between the preeminent horror icons of the 1980s is an incredible disappointment. The director uses blood and gore in a failed effort to substitute for suspense and terror. The story is a sad effort, even by the standards of the two movie chains this poor excuse for a movie is supposed to be paying tribute to. I mean, for heaven's sake, since when does a forty year old zombie corpse (Jason) bleed?! Even Freddy's usual cleverness and creativity are lacking, once again buried under a load of gore that even fails to create disgust with anything besides this garbage excuse for a horror film. Bad acting, bad story, bad directing, bad EVERYTHING!!!!!!

Save your money and pass. In fact, when this one finally makes its way to cable, PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When a child killer and the goalie/murderer of Camp Cystal Lake meet is eqeals an orgy of fake, gushing blood, and bad acting (Kelly Rolan and the girl from Dawson's Creek). Ronny Yu creates a hevyweight bout atmosfare when the monsters meet at the lake. I almost expected a voiceover "let's get to rumble"! The thing I liked best about the flim was the ending. It lets you guess about what happened and what will come from the francise. The only comment I can make about the DVD is that Ronny Yu should have gone with the other opening scene.

Summary: A great movie
Review: What a showdown between two slashers. This was a great movie no doubt. Freddy was up to his old tricks of playing games and Jason just dont care to play. He would rather break you in half. I did find myself cheering for Jason before the movie was over though. He became like the hero and the only one who could stand toe to toe with Freddy. The last of the movie is really exciting when the two finally butt heads. A must see for Freddy and Jason fans.

Summary: In retrospect...not that great.
Review: It was never going to be an easy film to make, considering how many years and changes it suffered in development hell. When it first came out my review was kind of biased as I was really excited at seeing Freddy and the J-Man finally do battle. But now, some months after its release, I can see some BIG faults in the script and direction.

First of all, there is simply far, far, FAR too much set-up and exposition. There is scene after scene after scene of dull characters talking and some truly awful and awkward dialogue. There are long periods of virtually nothing happening in which the film seriously threatens to keel over and die! The acting is abysmal (with the exception of the Linderman character) and I've never seen a worse actor than Jason Ritter. He's completely wrong for the part and only Jason Marsden rivals him in terms of absolute expressionlessness.

For a film called Freddy vs Jason we shouldn't be given a sub-sub-Scooby Doo plot and the same-old, same-old story. This film features yet another, endless 'Freddy's Boiler Room' sequence. Honestly, we have had ENOUGH of these! Freddy vs Jason was a chance to give us something new and exciting and dynamic. But a lot of this opportunity was thrown away.

Harry Manfredini (who's score was rejected) is replaced by Graeme Revell). Now, I've liked some of Revell's stuff (his music to Bride of Chucky was great) but here he passes on the chance to give us something incredible. Instead he has cranked out a generic and homogenised 'horror' score, complete with crashing noises and horrid sound-effects. Only in a few places does it prove how cool it could have been with a few moments of inspiration.

Ronny Yu's direction is stylish and he brings a sophisticated look to the film. But he simply fails to bring any life to it. Only in the last 10 minutes (when Freddy and Jason FINALLY do battle) does the film live up to its name. It's no surprise that I only watch these 10 minutes whenever it goes into my DVD player. And another thing. One character being harmlessly startled by another to a sudden burst of noise on the soundtrack in order to cheaply scare the audience is NOT cool. It was done to absolute stone-cold death in the (thankfully) brief slasher-revival of the late-90's. How on earth Ronny Yu thought it was acceptable to have this terribly dated and pathetic mechanism worked into the movie is a huge insult to intelligent movie-goers. It only proves Freddy vs Jason is an absolute no-brainer, designed to appeal to the masses. Strange considering only fans of the franchises will tolerate the boring plot.

There are good points tho. Jason Voorhees is now played by a new guy, Ken Kirzinger (replacing the once great but now dreadful Kane Hodder), who brings a whole new level of power and coolness to the character. And Robert Englund is, once again, very energetic and irreplaceable as Freddy Krueger. But these dudes are only onscreen together for a few minutes (rendering the title and the film almost completely redundant). I blame the script. There were literally dozens of reject ideas for this movie and I reckon they chose the wrong one. Very, very little happens in this film and suffering 90 minutes of coma-inducing set-up is hardly worth the wait to anyone outside of Freddy and Jason fans.

The DVD looks great. The 2.35:1 anamorphic picture is immaculate and really shows off what a DVD is capable off. The sound only comes in Dolby 5.1 EX. The DTS option was dropped in favor of a fullscreen version of the movie (honestly, what intelligent movie fan actually WATCHES these). Thankfully, the Dolby track is very strong, with many uses of the surround channels and .1 LFE. The Region 3 (which I also have) edition comes with a DTS track and it's even better. There are an abundance of features but only some of them are interesting. The deleted scenes are slightly interesting but there are still some cuts scenes not featured.

A good DVD of a shockingly average movie. If the sequel ditches the moronic plot and cuts down on the lifeless characters then it has a better chance of being the movie we really want. Please Ronny Yu, next time less Scooby-Doo story and more ACTUAL Freddy vs Jason.

Review: Freddy Vs Jason a film which was talked about for ages finally got its movie release. Problem with movie directors today is they are lost with ideas for horror, either they make a completing silly movie or copy a old classic. I was actually looking forward to seeing this film as I thought ok well it's something different, unfortunately it failed to prove itself as a classic.
The film itself acts more like a Freddy movie then a Jason, more blood and gore as usual, also there is a number of critical errors with the film. For example Jason throws a bloke like a mile up into the air but when it comes to getting the knife out of the table he can't. Hopefully they won't make a sequel to this but when it comes to horror who knows. If you love a horror with suspense and terror then Freddy VS Jason should be left out of the choice.
