Summary: For The Most Part It Lived Up To The Hype
Review: In what was a long awaited film, Freddy Vs. Jason finally came to theaters in August of 2003. The Crossover adaption of the two horror icons was talked for over ten years. From what I heard The first Freddy and Jason film was suppose to In 1988 in A Friday the 13th part 7. However, got scrapped because The Freddy series was busy with it's own movies plus both franshises at the time were owned by different companies. In 1993 New Line purchased the Jason franshise formerly owned by paramount. Still for whatever reason the fun but difficult idea took years to get greenlit. By watching Freddy Vs. Jason there is no doubt that fans of the series will not be dissapointed. It had everything Freddy and Jason films over the years contained, such as a lot of gore, naked teens having sex, people getting stalked in there dreams and in the woods. The film had all the the good stuff. I was not convinced that the suspense level was that high, overall it's just not a scary movie which I think hurts it a little. Also, something else that hurt's it is that the acting was a little shaky such as Kelly Rowland's corny acting skills. I also noticed that it seemed more like a typical Freddy movie with Jason just chuked in it. Freddy is sort the narrator of film, where he talks to the audience in the begining explaining that he is trapped in hell and needs to be rememebred so people could fear him. Therefore he searches the powers of hell and finds the dimwittited Mama's Boy Jason Vorhees. Freddy tricks Jason by disgusing himself as Jason mother, telling Jason to invade Springwood, especillay Elm Street. The plot was something that was well thought out for the most part. Of the two franchises I thought the seven Nightmare On Elmstreet movies from 1984-1994 were a little more entertaining then the ten Friday The 13th Movies from 1980-2002. There is no doubt that along with Michael Myers From the halloween series, Freddy and Jason are the two greatest horror villains. I honestly felt that the movie also made up for the last few crappy installments of each series. Besides the decent New Nightmare in 1994, Nightmare on Elmstreet part 5 and 6 were boring. As far as the Jason parts 8 through 10 and maybe in even part 7 were just not good. Throughout this movie Freddy seems to be the more "EVIL" of the two untill they move to Jason's House Camp Crystal Lake at the end for the great fight scenes. Over here Jason finally gets to show the true villain he is by evening things out with freddy. I thought they did a good job with the Crystyl Lake setting with the old dead bodies of Jason's past victim's spread over the place, they also use a nice blue tint for most of the Crystal Lake camp scenes to build more suspense. The ending to this movie has sequel written all over it. It appears part two will involve Ash from the Evil Dead series. But nothing would be better than having Michale Myers from Halloween in a three-way. Say what you want but Myers made this whole slasher genre a thrill ride by coming out even before the Freddy and Jason franchise. The bottom line with Freddy Vs. Jason is that it is no classic but Fans of both series will dig it.

Summary: kevin smith should be offended
Review: I didnt mind the movie itself, it was quite entertaining if u enjoys slasher movies. But i had one real problem that damn stoner character. He was such an obvious rip-off of jay from all the kevin smith movies. His clothing, his hair, his use of the f-bomb,his love of marijuana everything!!

Summary: SO INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS IT HAD TO HAPPEN!
Review: "Freddy Vs. Jason" is the penultimate blood and guts fest that pits Freddy Kruger against the Crystal Lake psycho - Jason with inevitably predictable results. Conceding that this is a horror movie there is surprising little that's genuinely horrific about the killings. They're rehashed uninspired vignettes from a dozen other knock off, schlock and load junkies. The shock level hasn't been raised even if the budget for this film has.
TRANSFER: Good things to talk about here. A really pristine transfer that captures fine detail in the darkest of scenes - and believe me, they're dark! Colors are well balanced. Some minor edge enhancement and a hint of pixelization but really - it's only a hint. The audio is well balanced and just when you think things are getting too quiet it's sure to surprise and kick all five channels into action with all the visceral charm of bringing up one's lunch.
EXTRAS: Too many for a film who's plot is this thin. Only if you're a die hard fan of pure junk will you be encouraged to sit through the barrage of thought-numbing nincompoopery. I think it's about time both these murders hung up their torture devices and called it a night - a long one!
BOTTOM LINE: I love a good scary movie. This is nothing like one!

Summary: good but not great
Review: It was a good dvd and i say you dhould by it because it has alot of action and the special effects are great. But it is just not scary. It is more funny than anything. I just didnt really like the ending and i think they should of kept some of the deleted scenes in the movie to make it alittle better and i would have given it 4 stars but i give it 3.

Summary: Really ready, really rumbled!!!!
Review: The showdown a whole generation has waited for, was it gonna happen? when?, where? and most importantly, how the @*&% is it even gonna work? The idea of a production company actually taking this serious was unbelievable, it's more believable that some geek running a unauthorised internet site actually came up with the idea. But it came and it really gave the goods, (Milky Bars on New Line!!!!) A throughly enjoyable fight club, with only two members. True to the (real) fans fears, it seemed that someone (we all know who) actually listened, a big thumbs up, the story was actually really well thought out, for what seems (at poster and title level) a massivly cheesy cash-in money spinner, actually was taken seriously as an honest effort to extend to the storys of two franchises that were becoming very thin with effort of story telling and expanding the worlds of two major horror icons. Mentioning Freddy and Jason getting together in the same breath, apart from the ending of 'Jason goes to hell' (which seemed to be conveniently forgotten 'cough cough' Jason X) was always going to produce a frown to many a horror fans forehead. So what can you do? do what can only be done, let them slug it out. Unite there worlds in a clever, but suprisingly simple way, which both fans and a whole new generation will accept. Accept that both characters have a interesting back story, explain this quickly and get on with what we've all been waiting for. What it really comes down to is Jason and Freddy have got a grat big VS. between their names. It's Showtime! Now after 10 Jason and 7 Freddy films, the blood is really gonna spill and you will not be short changed, along with both Jason and Freddy's blood, many more victims are added to their ever growing tallies. The effects are top quality, not only the killings and monster make up, but a visual effort has really been put into creating the environments, both real and dream world. Of course alot of the effects efforts have been focused on the evident showdown (the title gives it away!) and it really shows, they really go for it, neither holds anything back, they really really go for it. Yes Jason is thinner and taller, yes, some of us do know who we are actually really missing, but to actually finally get the film, many of us thought we'd never see, we cant have it all now can we? Big thumbs up, both in the entertainment value and dvd extras department.

Summary: what the?!
Review: This movie was..."eh"...and then it was "woah!"

The dialogue was cheesy during the first half of the movie. So excruciatingly clique and typical....I couldn't tell it they were trying to be parody or not. It was almost like a watered down version of "Scary Movie" (which was good by the way). And what's worse the acting in it was dry...

To criticize Freddy Vs. Jason as dumb, unnecessary and another sign of the downfall of civilization is not the point; we don't go to movies like this to rejuvenate our spiritual juices or discover grand new insights into the human condition. We just go to see how in the heck the filmmakers are going to stretch out a long wondered concept (Freddy vs. Jason) into a 98-minute movie.

Well, they can't!!!!! As a film, Freddy Vs. Jason is kind of a mess - and there is not a single memorable human character. I mean, you had the guy who hears a noise outside his house and of course he walks out calling, "Whose there? Is anybody out there?" he dies. Then you've got the chick who strips butt naked skinny dips in a lake : "I know you're out there! Now stop trying to scare me!"

*sigh* Maybe it was intentionally corny to poke fun at the horror movie clique's. I just wish they didn't promote this movie like it was serious like Nightmare on Elm Street and Wes Craven's New Nightmare...etc...then maybe I would of viewed it a bit differently. I anticipated it to have clever twists and turns with the psychological thrill. But the story line in this movie Freddy Vs. Jason was basically rushed though just to get to the long awaited ending. Which was kick ass ending! Lots of clever fighting scenes. They should've let a more experienced group of writers write the beginning of this movie.

If your into blood, gore, sex violence and could care less about the storytelling then you'll really love it.

If your more for the thrill like the classics then chances are your not going to like it.

All in all I'll give it 2 stars for the ending.

Summary: blah
Review: It's a descent flick, but I was really hopping for something better. This movie had too much plot and people running around screaming. I wanted more of Freddy and Jason just going at it together, more random blood and violence and killing. I was exspecting a huge blood bath, but left the theater feeling entertained, but dissapointed.

Summary: FREDDY VS. JASON! (RE-REVIEWED)
Review: Well, I reviewed this movie when it first came out in theaters, and now that it is out on dvd I can watch my favorite scenes over and over! Great special features for all the fans to see! I wonder if they will make another one! I mean you think they would stop but if they don't keep flippin out these sequels then the series will die out! Anyway the nightmare on elm street series and the friday the 13th franchise will always be horror favorites!!!
