Summary: "FREDDY VS. JASON"-Legends Never Die
Review: "FREDDY VS. JASON" was by far, bar none and without exception the most purely "fun" movie of 2003! Hardcore veteran fans as well as the uninitiated came out in droves to see the battle between Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund, in another perfect performance as the "dream demon") and Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger, doing well in his first portrayal of the hockey-masked killer). Screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift created the perfect scenario in which to place these two icons together without straying from the original two series' plotlines. And you can just tell Ronny Yu had a blast directing with the intent that the heart of the film lie within classic 1940s monster-fests like "Frankenstein Meets The Wolf Man" and "House Of Dracula". Like those films, "FREDDY VS. JASON" isn't particularly scary but it is enormously entertaining, fast-paced and an absolute MUST for every single horror fan that ever debated in 5th grade study hall with friends just who would win in an unholy war between Freddy and Jason! Being a HUGE horror film fan myself, I paid and saw this film SIX times in theaters (twice on opening day itself). I was ecstatic when it made $36.4 million opening weekend with a final box office cume of $82.5 million in the USA alone. The day the DVD was released, I bought it and I have to say that it's probably the best and most complete DVD I have ever purchased. The two disc set is full of extras and bonus features that will keep you entertained LONG after you've watched the film a 7th, 8th, 9th time. Also, now that this disc is out and has already charted at #1 on the Top DVD Sales lists its first week of release, I'm sure we'll all be seeing a "FREDDY VS. JASON 2" in the future. And that would be just fine with me!

Review: As I watched the opening of "Freddy vs. Jason" I was immediately struck by how much things have changed since I first watched the original "Friday the 13th." That was because this 2003 film opens with a naked woman. So much for teenagers sitting around the table playing a game of strip poker that never gets anywhere. Besides the explicit sex is nothing compared to the upgrade on the violence, blood and gut quotient and as I watched the rest of the film I was also struck by how strange it was to watch a splatter flick with production values this strong. Part of the charm in the old days was the cheap effectiveness of these low-budget movies. Those days are clearly gone, which is evidenced by a montage in the film's prologue that takes some of the choice moments from previous films in the "Nightmare" series, all of which suffer in comparison to what they came up with for this one.It seems to me that there had been talk of a film throwing together the slasher icons from the "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchises for about a decade, which is about how long Jason and Freddy had been in mothballs. When New Line acquired the rights to both franchises we eventually ended up with a script by first time scriptwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, directed by Ronny Yu ("Bride of Chucky"), with old hand Robert Englund back for the umpteenth time as Freddy Krueger and oversized stuntman Ken Kirzinger as the new Jason Vorhees. It is not that the script is original, but it does set up an interesting idea with regards to the "rules" of the two series. The problem is that everyone on Elm Street has forgotten all about Freddy, which is a fate worse than death, because he cannot enter the dreams of kids who no longer remember him. So Freddy resurrects Jason to do his dirty work for him. When Jason shows up on Elm Street and starts slicing and dicing, the locals remember Freddy and the game is afoot. The only problem is Jason continues to kill the kids that Freddy thinks of as "his." This sets up the films two battles between the title characters. Not surprisingly, one takes place in Freddy's nightmare world and the other at Jason's old haunts at Camp Crystal Lake (kill, kill, kill...kill, kill, kill...). This makes for two rather different fights since Freddy's powers are much more impressive on his own turf. At this point the film also has the advantage in that Freddy and Jason ripping each other apart is not exactly a bad thing, when compared to what the two arch-fiends have been doing to teenagers for the first two-thirds of the film. Caught in the middle are Lori Campbell (Monica Keena), Kia Waterson (Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland), Will Rollins (Jason Ritter), and Charlie Linderman (Christopher George Marquette) as the teenagers who have a 50-50 chance of making it to the end of the film alive. Of course these teens have twice the problems of most kids in splatter flicks because they have to not only set up Freddy and Jason so that one of them will take the other one out, but they need to be able to take down which ever one is left standing on their own. The first half of the film is rather standard fare for a splatter flick as the body count escalates, which is really just setting the table for the point when Freddy and Jason start going head to head (more machete to body and razor blades to face actually). Since these are pretty much indestructible killing machines the kid gloves are really off with the violence, and things that would make you close your eyes if done to a "real" human being are now the splatter flick equivalent of a championship fight. There is a tendency to see "Freddy vs. Jason" as a modern day version of the old Universal monster fests that brought the Frankenstein monster, Dracula, and everybody else in the studio stable together for a romp. But none of those films delivered the big confrontation the way this one does. The title along will tell you whether or not you have the stomach for this one. I have missed a lot of the films in each of these series, losing interest after the first several films, but those gaps in my knowledge of the cinematic histories of Freddy and Jason did not hurt my enjoyment of this film, which succeeds on its own level. "Freddy vs. Jason" does not really attempt to be a great splatter flick, it only wants to satisfy the fans of these two monsters. You might think that is setting the bar a tad low, but this film has no problem clearing that particular hurdle.

Review: This is the Best Jason movie ever made. The special effects make the death scenes are a lot better to those of the past movies. In addition to that, you get to see him fight Freddy! The fight scenes are NOT cheesey. They are long and elaborate, and very brutal. I HIGHLY recommend this movie even if you're like me, a person who wasn't a fan of the past movies.

Summary: I thought this movie was pretty good.....
Review: Wow. A lot of people hate this movie, although it was pretty good. The acting wasn't horrible, although there were some that sucked. There were a lot of jumps in this movie, which constitute most of the scares, but that's what Slasher movies are about. This movie was also very funny! Freddy still has his sarcastic and humorous charm when he is going to kill or is killing someone (or in the case of Jason, trying to kill...). The fight scenes between Freddy and Jason were great, but made the movie seem a bit 'martial artsy.' But it was all good in this film. I just don't understand how people could get so disappointed. This movie wasn't THAT bad, but it is, however, very entertaining. Just don't go in expecting a grammy-winner!!!!

Summary: What A 2003 Type Film, With Budget Spent On Digital Editing
Review: Wow, I don't remember the last time I wanted to turn off the movie and return it to the store the same 10 mintues I started the movie. First off I believe I rented a movie called "Freddy Vs. Jason", but there the least seen in this movie besides at the end. Sure their going to be seen in the film since their the stars, but I saw those who were going to get killed by both jason and freddy in the film more then I saw the killers. This film as lost it's touch since it took most of it's time trying to explain what was going on, what had happen, and what might happen. The acting was horrible with most of the actors, a few were good, and a fre were decent. I'd suggest if your going to rent a movie and want to get a bit scared rent Cabin Fever or Texas Chainsaw Massacre, those are both great films that will keep you watching instead of wanting the movie to end. Summary: Not great, but good enough!
Review: Well, where in the world do you begin in a review like this? I grew up in the slash 'em up era and the 1st Freddy scared the living snot out of me. Friday the 13th did the same. After about the 2nd in the series of each, they both kind of went downhill. So about 20 years after I saw the first one, I find out that the 2 greatest horror icons of all time are going to duke it out! I couldn't wait. But I also didn't think this flick would be much of anything more than just stupid. Of all the ways they have brought Jason back to life before, and killed him, then back to life again, I just couldn't imagine what this would be like. To my pleasant surprise, the movie kept to the original humor of the Freddy movies and the sheer slash 'em up of the Friday 13th series. Freddy has some memorable one liners and Jason has some historic machete kills. And when the two do battle, they keep you on the edge of your seat to figure out which one really one the fight. And that is the point of the movie, not those teenagers that just get in the way. There is a lot blood (duh) and some nudity (go figure), but hey, if you were a true die hard of the first ones (not so much the 12 that followed) then I think you will enjoy the movie. Some additional features on the DVD would have put me over the top to purchase it.

Review: There is nothing to say about this film except that it was a disapointing disaster. I saw it in the theatre and couldn't stop laughing at the fact that every tiny cut someone got would spurt blood across the room. This movie is altogether stupid. Don't see it. A great horror flick is 28 Days Later, see that one instead.

Summary: 9, 10, He's Back Again!
Review: I'd just have to say that this is great movie! i always been a freddy krueger fan. he has style, all jason does is slice up someone and move on the next victim he sees. forget about how people say this movie aint worth watchin, if it was that bad it wouldnt hit #1 at the blockbuster. the special features are pretty cool, and deleted scenes were good too, one really kicked seeing freddy insult jason, tellin jason how he doesnt have style when it comes to killing. as for the alternate beginning and ending,well you will see why they were deleted if you know what i mean. Robert England, a.k.a Freddy Krueger still has it after all these years. after seeing all that he did in the film, id have to say he looks like he could do one or two more nightmare on elm st. films. im sure people miss Kane Hodder playin jason, i do but ken kirzenger did well. it aint the first time kane wasnt jason. not that i want to complain but i dont know why they didnt exactly followed the past sequels? i mean, freddy's house was condemed, old and haunting like, why would anyone wanna fix it up and live there?? and westin hills asylam was remodled too, it was condemed and haunting like in A Nightmare on Elm St.5. but i guess if freddy has been fogottin for years, they might thought remodleing freddy's house and the asylam where freddy's mother was raped and freddy was born. if you're a big time freddy fan, you'd be happy to know that u will see scenes from the past freddy films except for wes cravens new nightmare cause that doesnt take place in the movie world. and fans of jason will be happy to see how jason comes back, seeing him crawl up outta the ground. i loved how freddy was givin jason a whopping in his dream world,especially seeing freddy getting mad cause jason doesnt die easy like any other victim does. but in the real world, jason has pretty much the advantage though this time, freddy still keeps some of his dream world powers in the real world. be sure to look at the special features, i forget where i saw it but reveals that freddy was one the camp counselors that wasnt watchin jason. when watching the movie, be sure to watch as Lori dream and walks up and see jason being picked on, you will see freddy as a teenager doin some girl on the porch, and it reveals that girl is jason's step-sister Diana. i wish i could tell more, but i dont wanna ruin it for those who havnt seen it yet. if you're really a freddy and jason fan, you wont be disappointed. trust me,i thought the ending would be boring and dule. i was wrong, the ending was better than i thought it would be. see the movie, and if you're like me. watch all the nightmare on elm st. and friday the 13th movies in a row! just dont watch Wes Craven's New Nigtmare, takes the thrill outta the movie world. i hope this review was helpful, enjoy the movie and remember what freddy said in Freddys Dead: The Final Nightmare- i just keep on tickin,lol.

Review: First let me say that I LOVE horror movies. Especially slasher. Jason & Michael are my all time faves. This movie did nothing to impress me at all. The storyline was very weak & I did not particularly care for the way they made Jason seem "dumb". The thing I DID like was the way they showed us how Freddy was before he got burned & then played out the way they torched him, etc. That was great. They did a short scene of Jason as well & how he was picked on at camp & pushed into the water. This was also good but I don't think that his drowning happened exactly that way. Those were the best parts of the film & that equaled about ten minutes of the movie. Those ten mintues alone can't hold up a 2 hour movie. The acting was REALLY bad. Really bad & that is not something that bothers me much in other movies but it did in this one. I guess because it is already 2004 & directors should know how to have their actors act. *Sigh* anyway ~ Worth a watch but not to own. More funny than scary. This was not great but not simply terrible.

Summary: I don't like horror... but I like this
Review: Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) has haunted Elm Street for ages. Killed in a horrific house fire ignited by angry parents, Krueger swore revenge by killing their children in their dreams. However, the residents of Elm Street have managed to stop Freddy from killing. A new drug that allows the kids of Elm Street to not have dreams. The kids don't know about this, and Freddy is understandably angry about this. How can he kill in their dreams when they don't have any dreams to dream? So Freddy goes for the next best solution, and enters the dreams of someone more lethal... Jason Vorhees (Ken Kirzingher). When the residents of Elm Street are struck by the murder of a teenanger, stabbed repeatedly and then having his spine snapped in half, the police begin to cover it all up. A conspiracy begins to cover the murder, and none of the teens seem to know what's going on. But more and more murders become apparent and the fear is just starting to sink in. When two mental asylum patients hear of the murders in their old street, they break out and try to warn the students. Their matters are only made worse when Freddy finds out that there's a big party being held in a cornfield outside of town. So he sends Jason to send the message out and make them remember Freddy. But Jason gets carried away with the killings and won't stop. This in turn aggrivates Freddy, as he is no longer taking credit for any killings. So it's only fitting that a showdown between the two greatest horror buffs is in place. And in doing so, let the killing spree begin! Freddy Vs. Jason is a movie where you can't hate it. If Freddy doesn't get your attention with his black humour and dry wit, then Jason will surely grab your attention with his Terminator-like attitude and evil persona. And even though the ending leaves you feeling like you've been ripped off, at least it's telling you something. Beings I only saw the actual movie at a friend's house, I can't comment on the special features as I never got to see them. And in all honesty, I hate horror. But this just managed to intrigue me, and I have to say, this is a generally satisfying film and one that will leave you craving more and more.
