Rating: Summary: this movie was too Taboo Review: Taboo is about a bunch of preppy friends, Nick Stahl (Bully, Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines), January Jones (Anger Management, American Wedding), Amber Benson (Tv's Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Can't Hardly Wait), Lori Heuring, Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie 1-3, Freddy Got Fingered) and Derek Hamilton who play a little game of yes or no with simple questions and one year later they reunite but some one starts to play games with them as they all end up dieing with words that discripe what they are but they eyes are decieved with lies and secrets. In the end it's too Taboo and too predictable so you know what the hell is gonna happen. Nick Stahl is the only fuel that keeps this thing going also with some interesting writing and direction. January Jones is just too much of a annoying (beep). Anyway you get my drift, hopefully
Rating: Summary: A Sick and Twisted Movie Review: Taboo is different from anything I have ever seen. When it starts out, it seems like it will be an average slaher flick. But then there is a twist halfway through the movie, that makes it really interesting and dark. This movie is not for everyone, because it deals with a very taboo subject (hence the title). The only thing I didn't like was January Jones, I thought her performance was pretty weak throughout most of the movie. Other than that...it was great!!
Rating: Summary: Horrible! Review: Taboo stars three of todays rising young stars. Eddie Kaye Thomas of American Pie, Nick Stahl of In The Bedroom, and Amber Benson of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. All three very talented actors. However, their performances in this film are utterly rediculous. However, they are the best things about this film. The other three actors involved are three of the worst actors I have ever seen. January Jones as Elizabeth should never work again. She shows no emotion whatsoever throughout the entire film. Not when shes being chased, not when shes having sex, and not even when she sees a dead body. The premise of the film is a cross between Clue and Ten Little Indians, and the film could have made an interesting movie, but we end up watching a mess. And this so called plot twist? Duh! It does not make the movie any better. Usually, I recommend bad films to people who are fans of the actors in it. However, fans of Amber Benson, Nick Stahl, and Eddie Kaye Thomas should stay away from this filmor you won't be fans much longer.
Rating: Summary: Got What I Expected! Review: Take Edgar Allen Poe horror story development, throw in an Italian Aria finale, blend with a solitary old mansion in a nighttime storm with lightening and wind, throw in 6 kids (JUST post college) for a reunion and you have the makings of a fun, entertaining, non mentally exhausting time, and that's exactly what TABOO was for me.Two points, without giving away the story: 1) I LOVE to OUTFOX the writers, and figure out endings to movies before they are divulged. This time, I COULDN'T figure out who were "the bad guy(s)". 2) I was totally SUCKED IN to thinking the movie was rapidly approaching finale, only to discover it was just two thirds through and approaching a second wind. Was I embarrassed with my "sophistication"! I give this film a rating of 4/5 or 8/10 because I think everyone involved, from producer through director and actors, aimed at a light, comedy-horror action product; I believe there is a complete genre for that, and relative to the genre it is GOOD. I got what * I * wanted! Bill Schaefer p.s. There was one GIGANTIC BLUNDER in the movie, but no one has commented on it, so I'll let it rest in peace.
Rating: Summary: This is, by far, the WORST movie I've ever seen. Review: This movie deserves no stars. I just finished watching this movie about five minutes ago, and couldn't feel anymore foolish for renting it. I can't believe I spent my money and time watching this movie. I wish I could go back to the video store and return in. As far as the story goes...there is no story. I mean, I verbally announced every scene of this movie before it happened. It was all so obvious. There was nothing original about this at all. Not only was it not innovative, but it was very predictable. The acting was terrible. I honestly can't tell if it was the acting that was so bad or the script. I think it's a heavy mixture of both. There was no direction at all. It's like they gave the actors this lame script and told them to go with it. It looked like it could have been filmed in one day. Editing and all. It was pathetic and a disservice to all who sat through it. The camera angles were really bad. I mean bad. It was somewhat distracting as well. Overall, this was the worst movie I've ever seen. I can't believe I picked this up. I have no clue what I was thinking. I guess I thought a Nick Stahl and Eddie Kaye Thomas movie couldn't steer me wrong, but I really had that wrong. I'm sure all of the actors that participated in it would rather forget that they did. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone at all. fatti
Rating: Summary: only one thing made this a 4 in my book Review: This movie was definitely pretty nasty toward the end. Overall: yes it was a B movie, the effects weren't so hot, and yes, it was like any other teen horror movie of the 90's (scream, I know what..) oh yea and the bad acting and bad music (as mentioned) is there too, so why 4 stars? The ending man!!! Not only is it kind of nasty, it is very Shakespearian, that is in 2 ways: what you find out about the 2 main characters, and how the movie ends. Loved it, hated the rest of it. Probably closer to a 2-3 star movie if you take out those aspects of it. when you watch you will see!
Rating: Summary: .......What?! Review: This very well may be one of the top 5 worst films I have ever seen. The reason I gave it leeway with 3 stars is because Amber Benson is in it. I love that woman, and I think she's a fantastic actor. Beyond her portrayal of a drunk, stumbling college girl (she even gets labeled a "lush", that was a funny scene), this movie has nothing. The plot-6 college friends (3 boys, 3 girls) play a game (if you want to call it a game) where they each get a card and answer the question written on it. It's just a series of questions about sexual and social taboos (hence the title! See its all coming together). A year later on New Years Eve they come together once again for a reunion. From there we witness the group get picked off one by one (is there any other way?). The plot itself is boring and not all that original. The greatest problem of the film however is that its so predictable! With each new shot you know exactly what is coming. The ending I suppose is amusing, but it's also very predictable. The actors were terrible (except Mizz Benson), even Eddie Kay Thomas does a bad job. His character is basically Finch from American Pie, only he's a jerk-off and a rapist! So unless you're a fan of one of the cast members I wouldnt recommend seeing this movie.
Rating: Summary: so very very bad.... Review: ugh - couldn't even get through 10 minutes of it --- anyone who managed to make money in the production, acting, etc related to this film should be subjected to the placement of their earnings to charity.
I do not know of any words/phrases to describe the horror that is this film
Stupidity on a GRAND scale.
