Rating: Summary: "You be careful out there among them English." Review: A hugely promising concept marred by a wandering screenplay, silly editing, and a relentless string of tediously un-scary sequences in which teens are stalked by a boring demon. This is yet another lost opportunity to do something new and original with the horror genre - especially disappointing as it's an English film and therefore might be expected to deliver something beyond the Hollywood formula. As it turns out, "Long Time Dead" is only truly notable for confirming that, at age 24, Lukas Haas still looks precisely as he did in "Witness".
Rating: Summary: DJINN, NO TONIC PLEASE Review: After a rather listless start, this surprisingly effective little shocker becomes a very competent and suspenseful movie. Although we have been swamped with the Djinn in the four WISHMASTER movies, the Djinn in this one is a little different than the wishmaster's. A group of burned out college kids mistakenly summon the Arabic fire demon while messing around with a customized ouija board. The Djinn possesses one of the gang and starts bumping everybody off; if he can kill them all, he will be free. Of course, the prime suspect is the son of a serial killer who just happened to be at a ouija gathering in 1979 Morocco.
The movie has some tense moments, and a pretty good cast. Alec Newman is good as Liam, as is Lukas Haas (Witness) as the video freak. Joe Absolom (Extreme Ops) does a nice job as the nerdy Rob. Noted British character actor Tom Bell also steps in as the strange landlord, Becker.
All in all, I found the identity of the Djinn quite surprising, and the movie delivers its jolts with a surprise ending, too.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: I am always on the look out for something to scare me and if you are the same, do not get this movie. I watched it for the first and last time yesterday and it is possibly the worst film I have ever seen. It seems as though the film maker pocketed the budget and decided to scrap any special effects. The movie creates some excitment by showing pictures of a large fiery demon only to wait until the end of the movie to find you don't see the demon, it possesses a man who burns people by malling them with his arms. Regardless of a disappointing ending, the script is terrible and there are absolutely no frights throughout it. A terrible movie that has cut corners everywhere and will leave you very unsatisfied.
Rating: Summary: In the mood for a Scary Movie? Review: I disagree with the movie viewers who said this movie is not scary. To clarify , I think what they mean is that it's not a slasher movie with blood and screaming and sensless plot lines. This movie is recommended for scary movie buffs who like classic horror like warlock, the excorsist, Blair witch, or the Ring. It has a decent plot, a classic horror subject like ouiji boards, and the element of the unknown. If you loved Friday the thirteenth, you probobly won't enjoy this. I loved Long Time Dead and defenitely recommend it to collectors of rainy night, watch while in your pjs, kind of films.

Rating: Summary: a complete shocker Review: I often enjoy bad horror movies but believe me - this was not one of them. Its got to be one the the worst I have seen. It was a free DVD that I got when I bought Jeepers Creepers ... I couldn't resist the 2 for 1 offer.None of the characters were likeable and I didn't care at all whether they lived or died. In some horror films this is not a total negative as Freddy Kreuger was an entertaining villain. Sadly you couldn't even cheer for the baddie in Long Time Dead as he was basically unsighted during the film. And since the slasher plot was the standard fare where a character is dispatched in a grisly fashion one by one until the final confrontation - there is little to keep your interest. The film had a complete lack of suspense .. in a word - boring. If I was one of the actors on this terrible excuse for a film I would be embarrased about putting it on my resume.
Rating: Summary: Cliche scares! Review: I picked up this movie at my local video store cause I thought it could be a sleeper horror pick. What I got was just the tired out scares many of today's horror movies give you. You know the friend popping out of nowhere scare, or the mouses making noises scare etc. I always complain that they remake good movies (Planet Of The Apes, Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and never deliever. Why don't they remake movies that just missed. "Long Time Dead" was little more then "just missed", but it had strong potential to be a very good horror film. Plot is a bunch of kids decided to play gjijui (sp?) board. Of course the spirit or in this case the demon the bring up wants to kill them. For some reason they could only bring up this deman "Dijin" who is a fire demon and wants to kill all of them. So what happened to the good ghosts? Did they get pushed aside by the big bully Dijin Demon? Guess these kids are just unlucky. So the kids get killed one by one. The ending you could see a mile away. Why do they continue with these horror movies do this type of ending where you the film watcher is just sitting thinking "Ok, this is going to happen now." You want to be suprised, and even the writer and director must have realized that the ending that everyone including Stevie Wonder could have seen coming. Oh well, rent at your own risk.
Rating: Summary: Pretty chilling little movie Review: I see by the other reviews here I'm the lone ranger but, nonetheless, I was surprised that this movie actually kept me interested and was actually a little frightening towards the end. Let me put it this way: there's a whole lot of so-called "horror" movies I've seen in recent years (slasher films, the Screams, the Final Destinations, the Last Summer flicks, 13 Ghosts, etc.) and I'd put this movie a few notches above them. Truly scary movies are harder and harder to come by and this one delivered for me.
Rating: Summary: Not A Bad British Effort ! Review: I was'nt expecting much from this film when i first bought it - good British films are few and far between these days - but i was pleasantly surprised how well acted with a fairly good suspensful storyline existed . Unlike many American films , the characters were not all "beautiful" , cardboard and constantly having sex in every room !
This is the second time i have bought a British made horror this year on DVD and been PLEASANTLY SURPRISED with both - the other was "Shaun of the Dead" (AVAILABLE now in Britain on DVD)- ones to certainly miss were "Dog Soldiers" & "28 days later" - ignore all the reviews about this film - it is ceratinly worth seeing !
Rating: Summary: The Heat is On! Review: I watched this DVD with a bit of skepticism, I'll admit, as I didn't know what to expect from a film about oujia boards, and spirits. Well, let me say that I was pleasantly suprised! The beginning of the film brought kind of an introduction of the new situation, which gave me an idea of what I would be dealing with. The next scene was a break, and provided some comic relief...though I wondered how that really went along with the story, as it seemed kind of tacked on....but, that was a litle point that can be largely ignored. After that, the action starts to heat fast, with people dropping like flis....yes...like flies, and there is always a guessing game as to what is causing this! I also liked the kind of barrier that is thrown in our path as to guessing the truth of what is actually going on. I thought that the characters were really good, especially Joe Absolom, who played rob. I felt that he was very convincing,. The only thinbg that I would have liked to see more of was where the relationships between the characters were going. I felt like at the end of the movie that there were a lot of unanswered questions. All in all, I think that this was an excellent film, though I would only reccomend it to teens or those in their twenties, because it probable wouldn't be appreciated by older people. Blak Viper
