Rating: Summary: too weird for words!! Review: wow! this is some weird stuff! i have no idea what to make of this. it's very off the wall. a lot of it is very funny. over all it's really fun to watch. it's just soo weird!
Rating: Summary: Highly Over-the-Top black comedy, Could have been better Review: I've been exploring the Chainsaw series one movie at a time and just discovered THE NEXT GENERATION. It was obvious from the start why this one is so controversial since it's played and written very broadly and for comedic effect but that didn't turn me off. It won me over. Not on par with the original but it is a fun little movie.
Rating: Summary: too cleverly sly for it's own good Review: Kim Henkel: What were you thinking? Did you think people would "get" what you were doing and enjoy this black comedy for what it was? Right off the bat you hit us with your clever comedic nods the other sequels (very funny by the way) and the movie is filled with great little comedic gems. Then you ask your viewers to spot the "easter eggs" you included in this one and have fun with them. The final scene is especially filled with that sort of thing. But you know how fans can be. The original Chainsaw has plenty of die hard fans since it's now become 'art' and 'fans' is short for fanatics and I don't know too many fanatics with a good sense of humor. You tried though - and you even hit the mark most of the time. This is very fun and very funny. Thanks!
Rating: Summary: very funny! Review: Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Next Generation is one of the most entertaining black comedies EVER! The social satire is excellent! You'll either love it or hate it! I loved it!
Rating: Summary: At least it has a sense of humor Review: In a contest for the worst sequel to 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', what saves this movie over TCM2 is its sense of humor. This is almost a remake. It apes a good bit of the plot of the original. A group of teens take a drive (I would call it a country drive, but they did not have to go very far); their vehicle runs out of gas (I believe; it has been a while); they go in different directions looking for help and individually run into the family of killers. A few of the family members are changed; the gas station now becomes a real estate office; a conspiracy plot involving the Russians (something like that) is thrown in; and instead of a semi the guy gets hit by an airplane (I am not kidding). As a whole the movie is not very good. The first half moves along at a pretty good pace. Then they apparently decided they needed some character development; the family head decides to philosophize about killing and life and libido and Scooby-Doo (just kidding); and a conspiracy is thrown in (apparently world government is behind serial killing families). Although one could credit them for trying to develop a story and perhaps put more depth into it, it does not work. The additional elements drag the movie down. The art direction in this movie hurts it as well, it is chaotic not thematic. If they were looking for chaos in the script and art direction, they found it. The one thing that does help this movie is its sense of humor. It pretty much verges on black comedy, even, at times, irony. There is a scene at the end of this movie which takes place in a hospital. An orderly is wheeling a woman on a gurney down the hall. The woman looks like Marilyn Burns, from the first movie (although listed in the credits as anonymous). The orderly is Paul Partain, from the first movie. It is ironic that Franklin is now pushing Sally. In summary this movie does have quite a bit of humor and is entertaining in parts; but as a whole it is not.-Bob
Rating: Summary: So beautiful...I cried! Review: I have a tough time talkin 'bout this one without gettin' tears and snot all over me. the family in this film is very much like my own beloved redneck family. Beautiful!
Rating: Summary: Not bad Review: I really enjoyed this movie. The new members of the family are as demented as the old ones. Velmer is an extremely creepy character who even out creeps the rednecks from Deliverance. It's nice to see two members of the original Massacre back after all these years too. This is a fantastic "midnight movie". IT'S CRAZY!
Rating: Summary: Well.. Review: I guess this was supposed to be a remake of the original and not a sequal. You can see alot of resemblances of the original, but that doesn;t mean it's as good. The first 45 minutes of the movie is actually very good, but after the "family dinner" scene, which it seems every TCM sequal has-- got very boring and dull.
If you are a TCM fan, definitely get this. You won't be dissapointed, but then agn you won't be very excited. (unless you like to see Rene Zellweger running and scraming)
Rating: Summary: Yummy and home cooked horror! Review: God Bless America! Leatherface returns and he's even got his girlie side back from the end of the first Saw! This one messes with yer mind quite a bit! I like that! More good ole boy redneck mayhem that makes me proud to be from the Country! Pass the gravy and hand me the remote.
